  1. Hi mate. Please be aware the L30 has been recalled by Topping due to an ESD related design flaw which can destroy headphones connected to it; it fails in a mode which puts a high DC voltage across the headphone jack. Unless the unit was built from December 2020 then it needs to be replaced (for free) by the supplier ASAP. Suggest you do this before selling or whoever buys it may not be aware or able to get it replaced. This issue can be googled (Topping L30 recall) and you'll see many people are in process of having their units replaced...I know as I was one of them. Ch
  2. Guys you should check the serial number of the L30, because they are subject to a recall from Topping. Any L30 built before December 2020 is potentially subject to catastrophic ESD damage which will destroy any headphones plugged in. Google this. You should return/replace the L30 preior to selling it as a second hand buyer probably cannot. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
  3. I am using the 353x with SR-L700 Mk2.....there is no compromise at all that I can see....punchy, clear and articulate with plenty of headroom (fed from a Topping DX7 Pro). Probably the best value energiser out there................you probably madfe a decision by now, but if not then don't be worried about the 353 it's a great piece of gear.
  4. Well, right now I'm listening to a brand new pair of LCD-X's being driven from a Quad VA-One EL34 amp; fed by a Topping E30 playing Tidal from my PC.....................all I can say is this combo is simply awesome. The synergy is great and I'm not feeling a need to EQ at all. I love these.....compares very well indeed to my Stax L700/SRM 353X.....

  7. Hi there. Not sure if you found your 800S or not as yet, however I have a nice pair of original HD800 doing nothing on the shelf in my collection; low hours and great condition. If interested PM me, otherwise good luck ! Cheers Sabercat
  8. Hi - saw this and realised I have a vintage (c 2001 or so) Mission DaD1 player which is in a half rack size format. Dug it out and took a few photos of it with some other equipment for scale (it is sitting on top of a normal sized NAD player). Im listening to it now and it sounds fine, no skipping or weirdness despite having been on a shelf for a few years. Needs some new rubber feet (old ones have gone sticky) but apart from that its fine. I replaced the laser mechanism before it went into storage so should last plenty of time. Its a nice unit with a cool display, and I have a re
  9. Hi there. I have a NOS 1961 and tested Tung Sol 7236 in my tube stash. See photo. I've also got a selection of 6080's but this may be what you want to look at first. Let me know and PM me if interested. Good luck ! Cheers
  10. Further information: Bought new in 2019, thought I would use it for a desktop DAC but found it was not a good match to my headphones, so its been kept charged but unused since. 11. Further information: Stax SR-L500 earspeakers purchased originally in 2019 as part of an SRS 5100 kit from Audiotrends in Vic but saw minimal use as I obtained a pair of SR-L700 separately and will keep those, though the differences in sound turned out to be very subtle and much less than I expected despite 700's being double the new price of these. These are the mid range Lambda Stax and they have an awesome sound stage, airy and hyper fast presentation with unbelievable micro details. Bass is fine and natural once you get a good seal on your face, though these are no
  12. Hi Yes its still available. If you are currently streaming from your phone directly into your amplifier then the Mojo should sound a lot better I am certain because it will bypass the noisy and usually low quality audio circuits in the phone’s headphone section, as well as provide the ability to access high bit rate streams. You will need an “OTG” cable to connect to an Android phone as the Mojo needs USB, similarly you’d need the Apple lightning to USB cable adapter, and then just plug the Mojo’s supplied USB lead into this. There are plenty of online guides to using Mojo with And
  13. I would think (and based on some quick research this view is generally supported) that they are likely to sound similar, given they are both from the same designer, Rob Watts at Chord, use the same -though differently implemented- multiple filter tap in FPGA technology and even have similar transistor based output stages with pretty much the same power handling capability. The major difference of course is that Mojo is much more portable, and can be paired with the Poly streaming module.
  14. I suspect the high impedance of the HD800's is not the best match. Anyway I found bass to be lacking; not an issue on the Mojo with various lower impedance phones I've tried, as well as my Campfire Audio Andromeda's. I built a Bottlehead Crack tube amp and since then I'm happy as thats a great solution for the 800's. P9 Signatures (I have a pair myself) do work perfectly with Mojo but I'm intending to sell those as well as I find them uncomfortable to wear; a shame as they sound great.
  15. Further information: Imported new from Japan in 2019, thought I would use it for a desktop DAC but found it was not a good match to my headphones (HD800), so its been kept charged but unused since.
