This thread was an entertaining read! GLWS Eddie - what a phenomenal projector and price

Boxed and in mint condition. Price is for a single active monitor only. 7 are available from an Atmos studio system that is 2 years old. Moving into a new facility so these must all go. They also make incredible home speakers - I personally think you would need to spend 10x to improve on the sound. Neumann floor stands are also available for 6 of the speakers by separate arrangement. The cables run down through them leading to a very tidy but adjustable, heavy duty set-up. Shipping will be at cost. Thank you for looking

Meridian, DSP8000SE Active Speakers
Googaliser replied to Jono Dorset's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
The 8000's are spectacular speakers - not sure I have heard a better sound since owning a set (pre-SE model - but all Meridian set-up). Love the colour too. -
Keen to own a May KTE (not interested in the other models I'm afraid)

Sale pending internationally - would prefer to keep it in Oz if possible - but if no takers... -

Price reduced to $79,500. The system presents as brand new, boxed and with over 12 months of warranty remaining. Approx. $190K new.... Incremental upgrade for some by selling your existing DAC and pre-amp.... -
Hi - fellow ES enthusiast. I have plenty of pieces that probably should find a new home but all in champagne and gloss wood sides

MSB Select II
Googaliser replied to Googaliser's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
Hi George - according to MSB - indeed - you shouldn't need a pre-amp with the Select II. I haven't tried this though (our main rig is Atmos) and I guess it depends on how many sources you have - and if you like the pre to impart something into the sound. I even know of a vinyl lover using the Select II as a pre. It could definitely soften the upgrade cost though for prospective buyers and in all but the best systems - probably benefit the SQ over and above what the DAC contributes. YMMV -

There are a couple of other DACs around this price point that I am curious to try. My expectation is they will disappoint and I will end-up back with the Select II - perhaps adding the digital director next time round. But it's fun to experiment - and I take reviews with a pinch of salt (influencer owners / shills / magazines) at this price point. That's why I was so surprised when I heard the Select II - I approached it with a lot of scepticism only to be blown-away. -

Personally, I think the upgrade to the next tier-up MSB DAC is the way to go over the DD until perhaps the Reference DAC. Especially if you are using the Pro-USB interface -

You're spot-on - which is why I kept both interfaces. The Renderer v2 (ethernet) is extremely (analogue) musical and detailed. The Pro-USB lifts another veil that you wouldn't believe existed - which can sound too detailed on some tracks (i.e. stuff the mastering engineer obviously couldn't hear). I have grown to prefer Pro-USB and just marvel at it every time I listen, but for poorly recorded stuff - the renderer is a less analytical presentation. Sorry we wont get to do a shoot-out (unless you come to Perth....) - I do hold Playback Designs in very high regard. Good luck with the YouTube channel! -
MSB Select II

Those shoot-outs have ended badly for all the competitors thus far - and also for my wallet.... Have tried very hard to replicate or better the Select II with lower cost DACs and failed. And I wasn't a DAC believer - perhaps read too much ASR over the years. MSB are definitely doing something different. It absolutely wiped the floor with a Rossini Apex and clock. In the same way I came back to the HE1 after a couple of years (sold my first one) - I suspect I will be doing the same with MSB. Adding the Digital Director takes its even further - so there is still an upgrade pathway for buyers -

Dangerous thought - I thought similar and ended up here! -
Current flagship MSB DAC (and pre-amp) - with all factory options and over 12 months international warranty remaining. Complete with shipping boxes, remote and all accessories - would suit buyer looking for a new unit. Unmarked, as new. Twin mono power bases Femto 33 clock Silver (the best colour imo) Optional modules included in sale: Renderer v2 Pro-USB International unit (Oz purchased) - will work on 120v/240v auto-switching. Includes DHL Express insured to anywhere on the planet (takes about 4 business days to get to the US if required). By far the best DAC I have ever heard. Only selling to fund a new adventure in hi-end. Probably the best Xmas present ever for the lucky next owner.... More pictures etc. available upon request. [Headphones and rack not included!]

As a former owner of R1's - these are the best version of the best speaker in the world Imho. Outside of my current budget, but for the knowledgeable and well-healed audiophile - these make a lot more sense than the bling bling brands with new models every year.
