Vero 4k+ OSMC media streamer/ player
AudioFool18 replied to Mr_Gimlet's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
I use one of these for my music. What I found out is that the Vero 4k+ is the only Kodi media play (that I know of) which outputs 44.1kHz. Everything else (Android based) can only do 48kHz. Also the Vero 4k+ will output 192kHz when I play hi res music like SACDs. Everything else tops out at 92kHz. -
I have no doubt that DLBC is great. My issue is the price which I need to pay to get 2 subs running DLBC. The DRX8.4 is already 2.5 x the price of my RZ50. Add to that the DLBC license, and that makes it over 3 x the price, which I just can't justify. I guess I'm just happy with my RZ50 with DL at this stage. Eventually I will be getting a 2nd sub and I'll be using a MiniDSP to make it work. Who knows, maybe when that happens I'll decide to give up and just buy the DRX8.4 and DLBC.

I had one of these. Bought it to replace my RZ50. It does everything which I wished my RZ50 would do Backlit remote 2 x independents subs XLR inputs and outputs I have nothing bad to say about the unit other than the price. In the end I sold it and kept my RZ50. There were 2 independents subs, but to get DLBC would cost $499 USD. Add that to the already high price, and I just couldn't justify it. Especially while I'm not using the XLRs at the moment.

SGR CX4F Mk II Active Speakers
AudioFool18 replied to AudioFool18's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
I've added more photos showing grills off, sides and rear view. Condition of the speakers are excellent with not faults of blemishes that I've been able to find. -

Help with Subs - SVS vs M&K vs Monoprice
AudioFool18 replied to AudioFool18's topic in Speakers, Soundbars and Subwoofers
I have had Paul from Red Spade Audio come measure my room. 1 sub can either do the very low end of the high end, but not both for the MLP. Hence the miniDSP. I too am leaning towards the Monoprice. I had recently bought the Integra DRX8.4, but couldn't justify the price of the 8.4 and the DLBC license just to add 1 more sub. The RZ50 does everything I need except the 2 subs, which the miniDSP should be able to do. I am not 100% sure on the miniDSP setup at this stage, but will jump into it once I get the subs. Certainly never hard of MSO, so this will be very interesting after I get the subs. I think the general consensus is the Monoprice (2 of them) is more than enough for what I need. Then the fun of integration begins. -
Help with Subs - SVS vs M&K vs Monoprice
AudioFool18 replied to AudioFool18's topic in Speakers, Soundbars and Subwoofers
The subs will be 90% for HT and 10% for music. The room is approx 5m x 4m with 7.2.4 setup. I have a few high end speakers which I rotate for the L&R, all are big full range such as Polk L800 and SGR CX4F. The centre, surrounds and top speakers don't tend to change. I'm using an Onkyo RZ50 as a processor and currently have 1 sub. I have a mini dsp which I intend to use when I have 2 subs. I intend to set up the 2 subs with the mini dsp, then Dirac Live. -
I am in the market for 2 x subs and want some opinions on my options. My short list is 2 x SVS SB2000 Pro 2 x M&K V12 2 x Monoprice M12 On paper, the Monoprice seems to be the best. I would like some opinions on this. TIA Currently they are similar in pricing. The SVS is 12" Sealed 550W RMS Has phone app The M&K is 12" Sealed 300W RMS THX Select rated The Monoprice is 12" Ported 500W RMS THX Ultra rated Has XLR

Polk Legend L800 speaker review
AudioFool18 replied to cafe67's topic in Speakers, Soundbars and Subwoofers
I have a pair of these. I've also owned the older SDA 1.2TL 20+ years ago. My memory is that the SDA 1.2TL are an exceptional speaker, and I don't think you can do better (assuming all the drivers and components are working well). However this may just be my memory. The new L800 are a fantastic speaker also. My set hasn't really been driven in yet, but they sound great. I asked the Mrs to sit in the middle to tell me which speakers were running, and she thought all 3 front speakers were running. When I told her it was only the 2 main ones, she was stunned. To this day she talks about the 'thing' that these speakers do. I think they are great value for money, but I don't think they're as good as the originals. -
