Highly Upgraded Oppo 105 Darbee DAC
Jeffo Gee replied to Eagleeyes's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
I believe I have the same conversion whereby the Op amps/electronics from the Sabre DAC’s is completely bypassed for quality transformers. The result is Killer and the unit will play everything audio the original Oppo will. I also use an Audiolab 8000 CDT via Coax for fantastic results from red book, just sensational musical enjoyment -
Further information: 2.1 meter lengths Kimber 4TC speaker cables x 2 with Kimber banana plugs. VGC hardly used. Price includes postage in Australia. SOLD: Totem Mite speakers.
Jeffo Gee replied to Jeffo Gee's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
Thanks Totem aren’t well established here but have quite a reputation overseas. These little Mites punch way above there size, sound staging is pin point and big, beautifully voiced, about $1500 new so a potential sonic bargain regardless of the cosmetic damage. I had the original Proac Tablettes year’s ago and these Mites are very good ood. -
Further information: I got these from a fellow SNA er, fantastic stands, one had minor damage shipping from UK which doesn’t affect performance. Filled with kiln dried sand and atrabites so very heavy and inert, pick up only, Sydney Northern Beaches. It would cost over $1500 new to replace these. 600mm Height, top plate 165mm W by 230mm L, bottom plate 245mm W by 325mm L. with original spikes. https://www.whathifi.com/au/partington/dreadnought-broadside/review Photos: PLEASE READ If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved

Further information: I’m the 3rd owner, one unit has damage to the top rear corners as per photos which hasn’t affected the integrity of the enclosure that I could tell. I have immensely enjoyed listening to these used near field on good stands and with T Zero subs. Tweeters and drivers in good condition. Best DAC to revive digital listening
Jeffo Gee replied to evil c's topic in Digital Sources, DACs, and Computer Audio
The entire Op amp output of the Oppo 105 is by passed with the Sabre DAC’s feeding directly into a pair of super quality step up transformers. So it retains all the wonderful functionality of a 105 eg plays about any disc format, however the 2 ch performance goes to another level. I believe the transformers preserves the time domain spatial information and acoustics of the recording. Adding a Audiolab 6000 CDT then lifts red book well beyond SACD,DVD-A of a standard Oppo transport, quite astonishing. My system is John Farlow era Exposure 19/4DR to Shahinian Obelisk with T-Zero subs. -
Best DAC to revive digital listening
Jeffo Gee replied to evil c's topic in Digital Sources, DACs, and Computer Audio
I had my Oppo 105 modded to replace past the Sabre DAC’s with transformers, once I heard it I boxed up and sold my Giesler Gross3 Kraftwerk PSU without listening to it again. Since then I’ve added a Audiolab 6000 CDT. All I can say is it makes me put my phone down and just listen with a BIG smile ? -

SOLD: Sold: Giesler Gross/Kraftwerk
Jeffo Gee replied to Jeffo Gee's topic in Stereo, Home Cinema, Headphones Components
Thanks Pete, I certainly never regretted buying this DAC on your recommendation and it lived up to all expectations, noticeably better than the Bifrost Multibit I was using and happy with IMO ? -
Further information: 3 input version. I purchased this from a fellow SNAer less than a year ago. I’ve really enjoyed its performance and not regretted going all digital from vinyl. Pick up with regards to SD or post Australia with careful packaging. Original PSU included. price includes donation to SNA. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be

Nice, what are the stands in the pictures and are they as good as the Factorie metal ones?
