  1. Hello MV, next time you fire up your beaut multicellular horns, I would like you to turn them up 90 degrees like pic below, have listen and might thank me later.
  2. I thing he will stay with the Wilson’s as there is no need to purve any longer at other speakers.
  3. Simple laptop an amp and stats for a movies and some you tube music this cold eve.
  4. Don’t be shy and show off your classic speakers, I think you have these !
  5. Hi, do you still have Azzura mid horns for sale ? Steve M told me just then about them. I am in Perth and into the whole full horn affair. May even be interested in all 4 of the Bayma 15” drivers , just unsure if they suit a small sealed horn enclosure like a Klipsch La Scala ? Thank you Volker
  6. Looks very cosy, bet you are enjoying that lovely full bodied sound. Very classy collection. This eve, dragged out the old Stats, just for their treble, mated so well with the mid and bass horns, very smitten 🥰 didn’t wanna stop listening.
  7. My La Scalas sound best in the room at virtually where your Maggie’s are. Should you accept the mission, placing them close to your Maggie’s Bass panels, the low end shall tighten and likely reinforce the bass. V
  8. Lucky man, been searching for a BAT like yours, if you get itchy feet to sell, please let me know. Have Steve Ms old Supratek Merlots amps with 6C33 Tubes. Nothing else I have ever heard comes even close to the sound of these, also own a ss state BAT VK500.. The only other semi affordable 6C33 amp I can find is from Ayon Audio - Spark III, followed by Wall Audio M 50. Should any one on SNA have one for sale, please advise. Cheers V
  9. Agree, i found dipoles really open up when approx 1/3rd into the room, well well away from the rear wall. Sounds silly but works. Ta V speakers - turbosound tms3, ambience grand reference, klipsch la scala, er audio esl III x4, er audio acorns esl, klipsch la scala horns, dynaudio contour 3, martin logan, magnepan, tannoy system 800 x5. amps - supratek merlots 6c33c, walcott audio pressence el34 220w, macintosch 2275 tube, consonance cyber 845, treshold t200, belcanto ref 1000, linn 5025. bass - jl fatom 113, kv2 audio x2, valodyne cables - moray james cryo speaker wire and interconnects, kimber, furotech, cryo valves. pre amp - audio research ls17, pass labs, bryston, linn source- marants cd sa11s2, linn cd, opera cd tube, project vinyl spinner, sonos and spotify.
  10. Ribbon for upper Mid / Tweeter made my day..... I found a astoundingly great solution in sound quality where I remove the upper mid compression driver 🔊 duties and use the Ribbon instead for 1800hz > God, sounds brilliant compared to the comp driver, so much details, air, no fatigue, dipole really rocks. Also the Ribbon is capable in keeping up with the rest of the all horn box to deliver a super clean 100db at the listening position about 6 meters away. Aussie made Ambience Grand Reference Speakers deserve much praise - 96 dB efficiency. Happy Chappy V
  11. A customes of mine has a Magnapan setup, 4x 3.6s - sorround system, with all Vave crossovers and very pleasant sounding setup, love all those details, scale and ultra low listening fatique factor. He does not like the Klipsch La Scalas as he respects his nieghbors..... speakers - turbosound tms3, ambience grand reference, er audio esl III x4, er audio acorns, klipsch la scala, dynaudio contour 3, martin logan, magnepan, tannoy system 800 x5. amps - supratek merlots 6c33c, walcott audio pressence el34 220w, macintosch 2275 tube, consonance cyber 845, treshold t200, belcanto ref 1000, linn 5025. bass - jl fatom 113, kv2 audio x2, valodyne cables - moray james cryo speaker wire and interconnects, kimber, furotech, cryo valves. pre amp - audio research ls17, pass labs, bryston, linn source- marants cd sa11s2, linn cd, opera cd tube, project vinyl spinner, sonos and spotify.
  12. Suggest to look for a Threshold class A amp which sounds like you described and I own. There is a 60 watt stasis on here for sale at $4k. Also, currently a nice Accuphase on EBay . Maybe a new Plinius unit would also be within your budget. A Ayon Audio Spark III Tube Class A unit with my favourite 6C33c valves would amaze, just over budget for new unit however. Class A amp ended a 6 year quest to get some Dyaudio Contour 3 speakers to really perform and other cone speakers also improved astonishingly well. Enjoy V
  13. Thanks for your kind reply Alan, On the mend now, Business was closed on and off for over two month since January I guess, just back to work again over the last two weeks. Perth economy is sad, my competitors are generally struggling to get German Cars to work on. Wow, the good old Walcotts have been great on the stats and horns, I like the low level or high level dampening / impedance level adjustment dials to tailor the sound. Re your JBLs you are building, I am curious, have you got those unique mid horns ? JBLs look like klipschhorns - corner loaded placement orientated ! Bet you can’t wait to complete them. Lenard Audio - site may prove useful to you when tuning yours, the education on horns, x overs, what frequency to use etc etc is well explained . Check out his Opal Towers from Lenard Audio 🔊🔊🔊🔊 Aussie Icon Removed the DEXQ x over from duties the other day and used the old Pioneer analogue active x over to compare = does sound much more analogue, more expressive , considering no time delay and EQ availability that I normally use. Lucky I don’t rely on EQ and delays to the old Turbosound clunkers, amazing old speakers. Cheers Volker
  14. A thought, may be to buy some new ER AUDIO ESLs from Rob McKinlay here in Perth and save $$$ or I have 3 pairs of them and compared to listening to various 2905 quads in retail environments, the ER AUDIO ones sound way nicer to me and Steve M . Much more alive, detailed and authoritive. Have 2 pairs of ESL lll s and set of Acorns, may sell if interested. Love those stats V
