  2. Perfectly functioning Blaupunkt 39" LED TV with remote control. Bought a bigger new one. Pick up only.
  3. Western Electric 420a >> 12AX7 or 12AT7 Tubes with Adaptors NOS - 3 pairs. Date marking: 7952 For sale are these great sounding Western Electric 420a /JW 5755 NOS tubes which when coupled with an adaptor (included) function as a superior 12AX7 or a 12AT7. NB. The height of the tube plus adaptor, to its base, is about 66mm. This is a little taller than the usual 12ax7. They are much better in many ways than other 12AX7s I have tried, including: Mullard, Telefunken, Amperex and any Chinese tubes (Psvane etc). The most obvious improvements came in bass drive and resolution. Greater timbral information and texture is evident throughout the mids and bass. Glorious textural information not experienced with any of the tubes mentioned above. Dynamics are scary. Clarity is excellent. Designed for very low microphonics… The WE 420a "features special cathode springs which reduce microphonic response. This characteristic is controlled by a "microphonic stability" test for balance in which the tube is tapped at shock levels of 400 - 600G." Very fine wires (springs) just above the top mica can be seen in pics. The specs are a little different from a 12AX7 which has an amplification factor of 100, 12AT7 is 60, and the Western Electric 420a is 70. I have tried the Raytheon 5755 and GE equivalents and as expected the Western Electric sounds better and is reliable (the Raytheon is not). WE is the real deal!
  4. How about this Western Electric 10 gauge?
  5. Perfectly functioning, famous woofers from JBL's golden era of high efficiency and musical tone with AlNiCo V magnets. Have been re-coned with genuine JBL kits. The JBL K-140 is a superb low frequency transducer designed for bass guitarists and organists to reproduce the rich fundamental tone character of their instruments. With its AlNiCo magnet structure, the K140 delivers pure bass notes even at thunderous levels with unmatched efficiency of 98dB per watt. The K140 is 15-1/2 pounds of low frequency dynamite! The punch in bass notes is deep and solid; midrange bite is crisp and clear; with brilliance in the highs for distinctive tone character. JBL at its best with efficiency to match. The K series woofers have that famous AlNiCo sound from the sixties and seventies before civil war in the Congo forced speaker manufacturers to switch to ceramic magnets. Power Capacity: 300 W Sensitivity: 98 dB SPL Frequency Range: 40 – 2500 Hz Voice Coil: 4” Copper Magnet: 5.4 Kg AlNiCo Photos show JBL cone numbers 52254.
  6. Hi crtexcnndrm99, The Onken project has been very good and continues to contribute musical and experimental pleasures. With regard to front vs rear mounting, I have seen some quite vague reference to rear mounting being a little better. However, I haven't read or heard anything concrete about it. For me it's been an aesthetic thing to hide the speaker frame behind the baffle but needed to front mount the 18" speaker as it didn't fit inside the cab. It all sounds good. Yes the Onken calculators are cumbersome. I believe that the same result can be attained using a standard T/S box design program like WinISD as long as you follow the Onken guidelines: In order to achieve an optimal quality (Qtc=0.707), the so-called Thiele Alignment (n) is used - usually n=5.7. This number can be increased and most Altec 416 tuning is with n = 7 or above. The total area of the tunnels is about 90% of the total area of the active diaphragm surface in the best case. With the 604 the surface area of the cone (Sd) is reduced by the horn and its surround in the middle. So the eight ports are 40mm by 220mm. Moved air masses behind the driver and in the tunnels should be identical. The resistance of the low-pass inductor is to be included absolutely also into the computation of the total quality factor (Qts) Using WInISD I tried to get the port area in the range of 80% to 100% of Sd the speaker area. So for the speakers I was trying, 8 ports with a width of 40mm and height 220mm, giving the port length of 380 to 430mm, depending on tuning. With other drivers I sometimes needed to block some ports so that the tuning doesn't require a port longer than the cabinet, although this wouldn't strictly be an Onken as the port area is smaller than Sd. Still worked well. For a 416, my cabs were 260L. 1050 tall, 630 across and 530 deep. 25mm ply. This is smaller than a Hiraga Onken but i have limited space in my room. Tuned to 40Hz, the port length is 380. I tried tuning lower but preferred the extra slam the higher tuning gave. MarkAL on SNA whose Onkens with huge Mantaray horns shown earlier in this thread made the full size Onkens and may be able to help you further. Best of luck on the build. Let me know how it goes.
  7. Reduced $$$: Western Electric 10GA Tinned Copper with Cotton covering. Twisted Pair Speaker Cable The price is for a stereo pair of 3 metres. This is the wire Duelund copied "A wire originally born of the desire to improve upon legendary studio vintage cabling." The legend is this WE cable! This is great speaker wire especially for bass and mids. It is twice as thick and has 4 times the cross sectional area of the famous WE16GA as featured on Jeff's Place https://jeffsplace.positive-feedback.com/the-vintage-beat-western-electric-we16ga-speaker-cable/ NB. Other lengths available - to be listed.
  8. When I had these Valencias, both crossovers needed attention. The capacitor values were all over the place and two of the inductors were way off spec and the third one open circuit. Capacitors were replaced with Russian hybrid PIO K75 and bypasses were with Russian teflon caps and also Mundorf. Wiring was replaced with Duelund and some Western Electric 10 awg. I wanted to keep the external crossover plates and pots original. And they were working without issue. The fibreglass damping was replaced with felt by Ben the previous owner. Drivers went from Altec 806 to 902 for added highs and the woofers with original cones, being AlNiCo needed a recharge, which was done at Speaker Hospital in Sydney. At this stage, the speakers sounded great but looked very shabby. That is where Alan of alcojoinery.com came in with this restoration. Looking great Alan!
  9. A pair of 1970's JBL Musical Instrument Speakers with original cones. Work perfectly and are very rare in this condition. As used by Fender and many famous guitarists https://pro.harman.com/insights/harman-pro/loud-and-clear-the-story-of-jbl-fender/ JBL K130 15" -> For Lead or Rhythm Guitar, Electric Piano, Organ, Vocals. SPL - 103dB/W Power - 125W Continuous Frequency - 50Hz - 6000Hz Fs: 40Hz, Qts: 0,25, Qms: 4, Qes: 0,27, Sensitivity: 103dB, Vas: 297.3L, Eff: 6.7, Pe: 125W, Xmax 0.76, Re: 6.3, Le 0.6, Sd: 0.09, Bl: 18, Mms: 60, Flux: 1.2 "The K130 is JBL's most rugged and efficient extended range musical instrument loudspeaker. Its 125.watt continuous sine wave power handling capability qualifies it as the ideal reproducer for lead and rhythm instruments. The 15 inch cone area provides considerably more output than smaller cones without the slightest sacrifice in midrange and high frequency reproduction. K130 - the only choice when loudspeaker size is not restricted and tremendous musical sound levels are required." "In the early sixties, performers using amplified musical instruments had very special ideas about the kind of sound they wanted - sound they couldn’t get from standard loudspeakers. To satisfy their unique requirements, major guitar manfacturers and musicians - from professional to beginner - turned to JBL. The F Series provided the answer -with sound quality, efficiency and reliability only JBL could offer. That was the sixties. Today, amplifier power is much greater, listening castes have grown increasingly sophisticated and the demands placed on musical instrument loudspeakers are more critical than ever before - precisely the reasons why JBL developed the K Series. New materials have been formulated for high stress areas of the cone and voice coil which give K Series loudspeakers double the power handling capability of the previous F Series. For example, a K140 will cake the full output of a 150.wacr continuous sine wave amp and still sound clean ac any volume level-from a whisper fo an explosion. The K Series delivers more sound per waft than other musical instrument loudspeakers. The punch in bass notes is deep and solid; midrange bite is crisp and clear; with brilliance in the highs for distinctive cone character. JBI. sound at its best, with efficiency co match. The K Series technology Each loudspeaker in the K Series is designed co traditional JBL quality standards. High strength Alnico V magnets in massive cast iron magnetic structures conduct energy directly to large, handwound voice coils made of ribbon wire. These precisely machined components yield maximum loudspeaker efficiency and power handling capacity. Cone surround fatigue has been virtually eliminated by the use of new compounds and materials developed by JBL. Such improvements meet the stringent demands of amplified musical instruments and provide unsurpassed durability."
  10. Item: Western Electric 420a >> 12AX7 or 12AT7 Tubes with Adaptors NOS - 3 pairs. Date marking: 7952 Price: $135 per pair plus postage. 11. The Altec-Lansing Valencia 846B is an American audio classic that inspired the development of the legendary Model 19. It shares many similarities with the newer and larger Model 19, and can in fact be made to surpass the Model 19 as described by Great Plains Audio the successor company of Altec Lansing. Details: https://greatplainsaudio.com/gpa-vintage-altec-ezine/altec-lansing-valencia-improving-classic/ The speakers currently sound great but with the electronic crossover as described in this GPA article they could be made even greater. These have had substantial work done on them: * The 416-8A woofers have been re-magnetised and reconed using GPA cones to new condition. * The horn's compression drivers have been upgraded to the latest of Altecs - 902-8B with aluminium diaphragms. This gives extended and clearer frequency response. The original Valencias used the smaller magnet 806 drivers with limited high frequency extension. * The Altec N800-8k crossovers have been revitalised using Jantzen's "ultimate" audio inductor, the Wax-Coil is Jantzens top of the line Foil inductor for the bass. The coil is wound from 99.99% pure copper foil on a hardwood core. Jantzen air core coil is used for the HF. * Capacitors are the excellent Russian paper-in-oil, foil hybrids, bypassed with teflon and Mundorf Silver/Oil caps. * Wiring is a combination of Western Electric and Duelund. * Mundorf Silver/Gold solder is used throughout. * The old fibreglass damping replaced with cotton felt. * Covers not shown in pics. The cabinets need TLC as they are a bit rough but function perfectly. I have access to an excellent professional craftsman who can re-do these if required by the buyer. Pickup is preferred but Pack and Send is possible at buyer's expense.

  13. Further information: Item: Nakamichi BX-2 Cassette Deck This Nakamichi looks to be in nice condition except it doesn't work. The lights come on but none of the buttons actuate their function. Also the Play-Pause sticker is missing - a minor thing. Pick up only in Sydney near La Perouse.
  14. Further information: The sound will be more clear and natural throughout entire range with RSP-901EX. You will recognize once you listen. The sound will be more clear and natural throughout entire range with RSP-901EX. You could feel and experience more realistic sound with a full of musicality. In a word, you could be convinced that the RSP-901EX brings out fully potential of your audio system. RSP-901EX is not only an audio-accessory but also a real audio-gear for improving the sound quality of your system dramatically. Technical explanation When the amplifier drives speaker, at the same time, speaker generates counter-electromotive force. This is because the speaker operates according to the same principle as a motor. This counter-electromotive current returns to the amplifier via the speaker cord, making it difficult to drive speaker in accordance with the input signal. It is because this current makes negative effect to the feedback loop causing complicated phase delays. This physical phenomenon hurts the sound quality of the audio system. Absorbing the part of counter-electromotive force by RSP-901EX, the amplifier can drive the speaker more easily. This enables more accurate speaker drive, and it can reliably reproduce fine signals. Musicality is expressed by delicate and fine signals. RSP-901EX plays the sound with Musicality by reliably reproducing those fine signal. RSP-901EX RSP-901EX enriches low frequency and improves localization for mid-high frequency. Especially, vocals become very attractive. Specifications Compatible speaker impedance Preferably 10Ω or lower Max amp output Preferably 1 kW or lower External dimensions 100 x 47 x 117 mm (W×H×D)
  15. SOLID sub woofer is a good budget subwoofer made for Solid, the company, by B&W. Works well.
  16. Margules ADE 24.1 Audio Digital Enhancer works by supposedly removing all of the 3rd harmonic digital hash commonly generated by cds and other players. Really works well. Adds that "triode tube" warmth... more space and air between instruments, much more musical. It works! From the manufacturers website: Some listeners feel digital recording is flat and sterile-sounding, lacking the warmth and presence of analog reproduction. For those listeners, Margules Audio has designed the Magenta ADE-24 Analog/Digital Enhancer. Until now, the problems involved in reconstructing the original analog signal from digital samples have been dealt with in the digital domain. This requires complex—and expensive—DSP (digital signal-processing) circuitry. In our research, we found that the basic problems can be solved in the analog domain. The design of the ADE-24 is based on the idea that high-order odd harmonics are generated during the reconstruction of the analog signal. These harmonics falsify instrumental timbre, and create a bright, hard, or harsh sound. We designed a circuit with the reverse transfer function, to remove these unwanted harmonics and more-closely approximate the original signal. Implementing this design would normally require integrated circuits (with less-than-perfect sound quality), or costly discrete circuits. Our original circuit topology (patent pending) gives outstanding performance at a reasonable price. The ADE-24 is also a buffer. Its low output impedance reduces interaction between the program source and the interconnecting cables. The ADE-24 is connected to the output of any digital audio source.
