  2. Sold pending payment and pickup this Saturday morning
  3. Item: 15" ported sub Location: Melbourne Price: 125 pickup only, too big and heavy to ship Item Condition: works fine Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This was a project I put together many years ago. The cabinets are made from 32mm MDF and are internally braced. They used to sell these drivers at Jaycar, I forget all the details. I do remember that these boxes were tuned more for high spl rather than low fq. I have two of these, I may get around to listing the other one soon. The plate amps were also from Jaycar and started playing up, iirc one developed hum whilst the other's auto on feature became unreliable. I had some NAD power amps, so converted them to passive by installing binding posts and wiring the drivers to them instad of the amps. (I used a powerboard with master/slave for powering on and off) I am no longer using these and am selling as-is. The drivers are fully functional with no operational issues. There is a front grill but the light grey cloth is a bit grubby and stained EDIT: Box dimensions in mm are approx 660H x 515W x 415D The boxes are biscuit joined and triton wood glued, also finished with several coats of high quality water based clear coat. The sub in the pics has SVS Soundpath isolation feet attached, which are fairly new and not included. I will include them for $75 extra Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

It has 326mm spacing with bamboo shelves and spikes on the bottom. This combo has RRP of $1600 Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  5. Other than that, it is in excellent condition. It has the brass upgrade spikes. This combination retails for more than a grand. 6. Item: NAD 216 125W amplifier Location: Inner Melbourne Price: 200 pickup, 55 extra to post in Aus Item Condition: Working perfectly, some cosmetic marks Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought this in the Trading Post many years ago, I actually have two, this listing is for the one in the photos attached. Has always worked flawlessly and has spent much of it's time in storage. I have never had the top off it, I tried to get some vision through the vent holes of it's insides in the pics. iirc, rated by NAD as 125 wpc @ 8 Ohms, stereo, or 400 w, bridged. I have used these both as subwoofer amps, and for full range speakers, and was very happy. I have now moved away from multi-channel, and have some powered subs for my stereo set up, so these are not being used. It has some scratches on the front facia, as can be seen in the pics. In the coming days (or perhaps weeks, time permitting) I plan to list the other 216 amp, and much other gear. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  7. Item: Audeze LCD 2 Location: Inner Melbourne Price: 675 pickup, or happy to post in Aus for $25 extra Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Prefer my PM-1's Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought these on a whim from here: These have mostly been stored in their case since I've had them. Finally had some time to sit down and enjoy a good listen and comparison with my Oppo PM-1's the other day. I could only keep 1, so had to decide, I'm keeping the PM-1's for now. Not an easy decision, love the sub bass from the Audeze - they obviously have more extension at both ends of the frequency spectrum. I also feel the LCD 2's are the more accurate of the two. Whilst I love listning to both, I felt somehow more engaged with the music with the Oppo's. As a side note, if anyone might be interested, I prefered the Oppo's with Dire Straits, but prefered the LCD's with Daft Punk - the bass sounds phenomenal! 8. Ditto, was it a NAD C658? The Node 2i is an amazing piece of kit, someone will be very happy with this.
  9. I feel at a bit of a fork in the road. Enjoying BluOS very much, having come from spinning discs or plugging a wire into my Pono Player / LG-V40 to listen to FLAC / Tidal. Late to the streaming party, and loving it so far, even considering a Bluesound Pulse or two for other rooms. This is why the NAD C658 (and miniDSP SHD) are on my radar, along with the promise of time & freq, correction via Dirac. Ease of use was never a priority for me before, but I seem to be dabbling with a mind change on that. The other road has me wondering if something like an Elektra Pnyx + Gieseler Fein should be where I head, something more high-end. I ponder if a decent pre between my Node 2i and power amp would improve the sound Also on my mind is whether I'll keep my TT as records seem so exy theese days!! Probably should wait until I've experienced it in a decent set up before deciding. (using an Art DJ pre II & upgraded power supply at the moment) Unfortunately got rid of all my vinyl in the 80's, have a recently aquired small collection now.
  10. Some great suggestions in this thread! Very nice beginner set up! Welcome to Hi Fi sound 😊 If you wind up looking for a phono pre - I would suggest considering the Schiit Mani.
  11. Interesting. What do you think will be harsh? Tech 2 Young or Gieseler? What did you move on to after your Apollo?
  12. Thanks Dave Top, that's good to know! I hadn't heard of that DAC before, more reading for me coming up. Very useful to get an idea of dac comparisons. One thing I have found is that I am sensitive to too much 'brightness'. I find the Elektra very detailed yet not harsh, would you say the same about the Tech2 Young?
  13. Greetings from Melbourne Been soaking up knowledge here for a while, and have purchased via the classifieds, about time I say hello! Have had a sound system of some sort since I was a teenager (some decades ago) Recently shelved an Anthem MRX710 and purchased a Bluesound Node 2i as part of a trial return to stereo from 5.1. My current setup: Oppo 103D Technics 1700 mkII BS Node 2i Elektra HD Reference 😍 JBL Studio 590's SVS PC13Ultra The incresed transparency and resolution has been a welcome significant change. 3 things recently contributed to this Node 2i replacing the Anthem Elektra replacing a NAD 216 Time spent tweeking speaker & sub integration I had indended to supplement the Node with an external DAC, however I have been reading much about the NAD C658 and may eventually purchase it, one of it's competitors, or perhaps whatever the successor to the M12 might be. (I have no knowledge of anything pending, just speculating there will be an update/successor at some point) In the meantime I am enjoying the Node much more than expected. The tweeking involved playing around with some sencore stuff I purchased a decade ago - RTA, Signal Generator, Matrixer & 4 mics. It's sounding pretty good at the moment but a frustation I have is a mode at 40-50hz with the main pair. Using the xover in the Node fixes this but it's a little too high for my system at 80hz. Gosh that's more than enough text for a first post! Oh wait- any opinions on using a high pass filter on the mains vs EQ to tame a mode? Or on using the high pass built into the sub? (I'll prob try this out at some point, but half expect a SQ hit) Cheers!
