Thx - the routers have different sonic signatures. The latest Testra Gateway is the best I have experienced for audio/video but I use an outboard PS, ground it and then feed it with a very high quality cable. (also the NBN box). If I use it as stock, the difference is significant. As I use for HT as well, it is very noticeable. I also run this part of the rig off a different power feed. That also makes a difference re noise.

Hi John, I absolutely agree with multiple switches. I have an etherregen > SOTM > CISCO all linked by Shunyata Ethernet cables. The SOTM and Etherregen are powered by SBooster LPS fed by Shunyata cabling. The effect is massive. I would love to have less "equipment" but the difference is very significant with the cascading units. Some forums overseas swear by the method - which is where I got the inspiration to give it a try. I use it on HT too and the effect on video is remarkable. An audio dealer friend of mine said that cascading data is very different to multi power and interconnect links where "more" is often detrimental. It is definitely not the case with switches. You get refinement upon refinement. It isn't a cheap exersize but unless you "fix" the source, you cannot adjust it back downstream. Proper power cabling a must. A quick question regarding the router. I use the stock Telstra Gateway (although fed by an Sbooster and grounded). Would the Waversa work as a replacement? ie stream netflix, you tube , computer duties etc.... Thx By the way - very worthwhile to use an LPS /quality PC on the NBN box. Really big gains to be had there. I use FARAD 3. Awesome.

Empirical Audio Synchro-Mesh, now with latest generation Crystek clock The Synchro-Mesh provides a method to improve the sound quality of virtually any 2-channel PCM digital audio source without needing modifications to the source device. It inserts between the source device and the DAC, SS processor or SS Receiver. No drivers are required. An additional digital cable is required. The Synchro-Mesh has both coax and Toslink optical inputs and outputs. If you have two sources you want to improve, you can connect both of these to the Synchro-Mesh inputs (one coax and the other Toslink) and select between them with the front-panel toggle switch. Devices that can benefit from the Synchro-Mesh include: Squeezebox, all versions Sonos CD Transports Apple TV Music Servers AirPort Express Mac computers with Toslink output PCs with S/PDIF or Toslink output iPod/Wadia iTransport PC PCI cards Smart TV feeding 2-channel audio system Audio quality is improved by reclocking or logically replacing the source clock with the clock inside the Synchro-Mesh. This clock has lower jitter than almost any source device, so the result is a improved clarity, imaging, dynamics and bass impact. Because of the very high speed of our S/PDIF coax output, we highly recommend using either our Standard or Reference BNC cable. The Synchro-Mesh is fairly immune to incoming jitter, but not 100%, so using a high-quality cable on the input is also beneficial. An optimum configuration is the Standard BNC cable on the input and the Reference BNC cable on the output, with the power being supplied by a Dynamo LPS. Some people believe that a DAC with internal reclocking will negate the need for an external reclocker like the Synchro-Mesh. We have NOT found this to be the case, in fact we have yet to hear any DAC in our system that does not benefit from the Synchro-Mesh reclocking it's coax input. Most PLL's in reclocking DACs achieve lower jitter when the input signal jitter is also low. Further information: If you have a streamer like a Nvidia Shield, Computer Audio or any USB interface, this interface will convert your USB to SPDIF, BNC or AUS out. (or multi so you can feed Audio/HT) Note that this is the same hardware as used by the top Weiss DACS. It is outstanding and comes with the weiss power adapter so you can run your high end PC into it. It is very versatile re connections and built like you would expect from a Weiss product. Retail is $3,600. Selling for half of that so no low ballers please. Priced to sell. I am the only owner and unit purchased here in Melbourne. Have box as well - presents like a brand new piece. See online reviews on the SQ. The interface outperforms all DACs that I have tried it with (high end). Perhaps as it is dedicated unit with own power supply feed. Your favorite D/A converter may not be the latest but you like its sound, appearance and features. So you don't want to buy another expensive DAC just to connect it to a computer. This is where our interfaces come in. The INT204 allows any DAC to be connected to a USB ported computer. This is done, optimally, by slaving the computer's clock to the INT204's internally generated clock. The INT204 is a USB to AES/EBU (unidirectional) interface which also handles DSD to PCM conversion. DSD files played to the INT204 result in conversion to PCM at a, selectable, sampling frequency and word-length. So your trusted D/A Converter becomes a DSD capable DAC. In addition the INT204 can work as a digital volume control device, controlled via an infrared remote unit. MAIN FEATURES Mechanics The INT204 is housed in a silver anodized aluminum frame. Power Supply Two power sources are required for the INT204. One is the bus power fed via the USB connector, the other is an external power supply which is supplied with the INT204 unit. This scheme allows to have the input and output sections of the INT204 galvanically isolated. Synchronization The sampling frequency is generated with an internal generator in the INT204. This makes sure the transfer between computer and D/A Converter is low jitter. Digital Input A USB type B connector is used a connection to the computer. Digital Outputs There are one XLR socket, one BNC socket and one RCA socket. BNC and RCA sockets are driven by the same driver chip. Front panel controls There are eight LEDs for sampling frequency display and power status. A switch allows to select the sampling frequency when doing DSD to PCM conversion (176.4 or 88.2 kHz). Another switch selects the word-length when doing DSD to PCM conversion (24 or 16 Bit). A power switch handles the power on/off for the external power supply input. Back panel elements from left to right There is a power inlet for the external power supply, the USB connector, the three output connectors (BNC, RCA, XLR). Software features The INT204 can do DSD to PCM conversion at selectable sampling frequencies and word-length (88.2 or 176.4 kHz and 16 or 24 Bit). The DSD input is in the DoP format with a sampling frequency of DSD64 (2.8224 MHz) or DSD128 (5.6448 MHz). Supported PCM sampling frequencies are all standard frequencies between 44.1 kHz and 384 kHz. The sampling frequency of 352.8 kHz is automatically converted to 176.4 kHz and the sampling frequency of 384 kHz is converted to 192 kHz as the AES/EBU or S/PDIF formats do not support sampling frequencies higher than 192 kHz. Yes - I have a few of them in the HT and Hi Fi rig. Extraordinary. They are not cheap but in the world of Shunyata - very reasonable pricing. They are also extremely good for video. I would buy them just for that! Highly recommended.

Mola Mola or Metrum Adagio. I have the Metrum and it is outstanding NOS. Heard the MM in another system and also very good. Had the Merlot at home for a while on audition. The Metrum a lot more natural to my ears. -

I have the Audioquest Diamond HDMI which I preferred to the Wireworld Platinum. I think Wireworld Ethernet is better than the AQ. The Shunyata is better than the WW. Just IMO. -

Yes will be very interesting. I did a lot of streaming testing and the Shunyata Sigma Ethernet was the one I chose - it was pretty easy, it is just another level. I have a few. They have a sister company who supplies the medical industry as well interestingly. Shunyata is built on a copper platform and the Sigma has two inbuilt filters (not galvanic isolation). I also had the one filter Alpha and no filter venom on test and tried a heap of combinations for a good month. I am using a top of the line Cisco switch as per a lot of US audiophiles, and feed that with a Shunyata Alpha NR cable. The Cisco was a clear improver over quite a few combinations. It wasnt hard to pick . That also feeds off to my HT rig and the picture and sound are improved dramatically. Looking forward to observations. I test a lot of equipment and spend a lot of time mixing, matching and listening. I find that you can reproduce the "differences" consistently and pick the trait of particular cables. I mean beyond the easy silver versus copper (and gold for those who have tried this - it is very interesting). And what surprised me the most in my audio career is the differences that can be made at the modem end. I use an external power supply (have Sbooster/Uptone JS2) on the router and the NBN box. Both have Shunyata cabling. Also, with the Sbooster, grounding the DC plug (using a simple IFI groundhog) makes a hell of a difference. I think we have to treat the signal from its earliest point. Also, look at proper vibration control on the modem, switch off wifi. I will be testing a lot of combinations to see how they interact. The Shunyata SIGMA ethernet was profound. It was more significant than the top of the range power cables recently put in - and they made a very noticable difference. The differences I note is the ability to convince that you are listening to a live real performance. Point being is that in my experience all things matter - and I do doubt that the Etherregen will perform identically with a Shunyata Sigma filtered medical cable versus a generic. This would astound me - but I have an open mind. Re Uptone. they are great guys there - I have a few of their products but I seriously doubt whether they have tested a loom of Shunyata Sigmas given their price. I am not sure they could make the claim - I don't think they are pushing it in fairness. -

Yes - My Etherregen arrives next week. Looking forward to it as switches make a big difference to SQ in my experience. I have tried many. Routers also make a difference. Replacing the power supply too - as does grounding the negative pin of DC adapters. If you have a resolute enough system and can tell the difference between sound signatures - by how you react and feel to the music being played rather than a bunch of measurements, then it is pretty obvious. I can say that putting an EMO medical isolator in the path does make a very positive difference. Shunyata Ethernet cables (SIGMA and ALPHA) are remarkable in both picture and sound. Personal experience from people with sensitive musical ears with high quality systems is the only measurement needed. -

I have seen the threads on the Hashimoto upgrade. They are very good transformers I bet. Not sure I would want to play around with electrics to be honest. Heavy Iron can sound very organic but also can sound a bit damped as well. Use a top quality power cable; stillpoints or Grand Prix Audio apex footers and a Furutech riser around the PC plug and you have something very special. I have a few Sboosters and there is no comparison. Not in the same ball park.
