  7. I have seen the threads on the Hashimoto upgrade. They are very good transformers I bet. Not sure I would want to play around with electrics to be honest. Heavy Iron can sound very organic but also can sound a bit damped as well. Use a top quality power cable; stillpoints or Grand Prix Audio apex footers and a Furutech riser around the PC plug and you have something very special. I have a few Sboosters and there is no comparison. Not in the same ball park.
  8. Recently took delivery of the Uptone JS-2 power supply and it is a remarkable unit. My system is already tweaked to the eyeballs with Metrum, NAGRA and Tidal Audio supported by latest shunyata cabling and Furutech risers. Have played with a few power supplies for the source/SPDIF converter and Clock and the JS-2 is the best by a large margin. It adds a lot of scale, holographic imaging and detail to an otherwise very satisfying system. One that is a special mention is the speed of attack and the textured decay trails - brings music more to "life" and that quality that you seek so you can keep listening and immersed. The build and packaging is also first rate. Additionally, for those who are looking at DC powered servers or HTPC with low noise wattage profiles, the JS-2 is pretty much unbeatable given its amp ratings and voltage flexibility. ( two rails). Very highly recommended. I must also mention that Alex Crespi's service, knowledge and willingness to go the extra mile is extraordinary. I have purchased a few items from him and the quality of the communication and professionalism is excellent.
  9. Thanks for the responses. It is very difficult to get AV streaming hardware that suits us audiophiles. I do get an excellent result through reclocking the NVIDIA signal through an Empirical Audio Syncromesh. (via an older USB/SPDIF) converter. I have also played with Telstra TV box with SBooster PS, high quality HDMI cabling into a Cambridge bluray as the converter to SPDIF. It is surprising on what can be coaxed out here. The objective has been to get a hifi experience for home theatre - merging hifi and HT rigs. Quite tricky but a great experience when you watch and listen to live concerts. Youtube is a great platform as it is like Tidal and Spotify with Video.
  10. Its very difficult to get info on this so hoping some audiophiles may have an answer here. I use an NVIDIA Shield into cheapo USB to SPDIF converter (USB is the best audio output here as apposed to HDMI on this unit) and then into a Empirical Audio Sybchromesh reclocker and then a Metrum Dac. The SQ is exceptional but have been wanting to upgrade the USB/SPDIF converter to something more befitting such as a Mutec USB 3, Weiss 204 or Empirical Audio Offramp 5. Its been impossible to get an answer from Nvidia or the converter suppliers as to whether the USB is compatible. The Nvidia is USB3 UAC1. Android. The old copnverter off ebay I have works but dubious quality. Putting the question out there to anyone who has used the Nvidia Shield as a source for high end audio (youtube A/V streaming) and what converters work. Apparently most do not. Welcome thoughts!
  11. Yes, I have a pair exactly the same and they are fantastic, They are better than my Argento Serenity Reference.
  12. ARCAM 850 if you can afford it. Extremely musical and in a top end system with care for cabling and isolation it IMO leaves others behind. You can also go for less power and still have the same electronics - 550 350 (ex amp stage). The thought I will leave you with is to pay attention to cabling and isolation - massive rewards to be had. I use a quadraspire rack with Voodoo ISOPODS for isolation. I use Wireworld Silver Starlight for HDMI and Purist Audio power cabling. The dimensionality and musicality of ARCAM is astounding. Use quality speaker cabling. I use single driver Eclipse speakers.
  13. Yes - I had one made up by Clay from Gieseler Audio. Excellent. I can also use it with Telstra TV 1 as that is 5.99 volt (Clay made a special adapter) and jumper to 5 volt. It is an excellent product and I use it in a hifi rig. Email Clay at Clayton Gieseler <sales@gieseler.com.au> and mention Andre referred you. It is audiophile quality.
