  1. Lift is such a sad song, if you over invest in thinking about the person Thom may be.
  2. The Church - Blurred Crusade This may be a desert island disk for me. Up there with a bunch of "perfect albums" (In Rainbows; Wish You Were Here; Blue Train; Strobe COma Virgo; Rostropovich's Bach solo cello, Emerson Quartets Shostakovich quartets). The feel, and the balance of the album are admirable. There is an ease, and in You Took and delicious edge. When You Were Mine strays early into intense guitar groove with an accelerating drum signature before vocals come in and a little restraint is imposed....really subtle. And it pointed to the places where live performance could step out. Was this the album Clearmountain produced? (I could google, but why when there is such an informed community near?)
  3. Oasis - What's The Story Morning Glory? I am going to a festival in December that has just announced Liam as the headline.....so i had better bone up.... ,,,as it were. 😑
  4. So i am confused re how to interpret from Amazon AU what versions of products they may be selling. @metal beat do you have any tips please for an over user of Amazon who has not yet encroached into it as a source of vinyl ? Their AU sseems to have a lot less info than O/S sites i had previously sourced other product from.
  5. Sviatoslav Richter - Artistes Repertoires : Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2; Beethoven Piano Concerto 1, Sonatas 22 & 12 Sticking with Richter.
  6. Sviatoslav Richter - Beethoven Piano Sonata 3 & 29, Bagatelles I feel another Hammerklavier fest coming on...and this is not a bad bloke to start with.
  7. Olafur Arnalds - Re:member The morning's commuting fare...(traffic didn't call for anything more insistent)
  8. Sigur Ros - Inni For me this album doesn't quite capture the spirit of Sigur Ros live. The Hvarf/Heim set, by comparison, I found enthralling, with song arrangements changed for contexts in which they were playing. The Heima DVD (recognising the influence of the visual on my response) would be more my "go to" live document. But always interesting to hear how they sculpt their sound regardless!
  9. A Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra La La Band - Horses In The Sky
  10. Sing Sinck, Sing - Sing Sinck, Sing A recent outing by Godspeed and Silver Mt Zion's Efrim Manuel Menuck. Interesting dronish qualities
  11. Neil Young - Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere
