  1. Hiya Skippy, I'm actually experiencing the same thing to a certain degree. It only happens when I turn the display/TV on then it seems to go into approx. a 2-3mins delay of trying to sync, I'm assuming, which in this time doesn't allow you to operate any remote functions on the amp. I usually turn my amp on first in sequence followed by the source whether it be, BD or PVR and I still have full access of the remote, as soon as I turn on the TV, is when the remote functions freeze. I still get full operation with sound and display, just can't operate the amp remote which can be frustrating when you were previously listening to music cranked up high then next time when you turn on the system including the TV you can't lower the volume until the 2-3mins sync delay is over. I've tried scrolling through all the Syncing options on the TV and Amp and adjusted anything which seemed related but nothing seems to have worked. I've just gotten used to it now and just sequentially turn the amp on first, source on next, adjust volume etc and then turn display on last and let it do its thing. If anyone has any idea's I'd like to hear from you. Cheers!
  2. Mine's Jan '09 too and had the plastic tubes as Trof mentioned. Could be due to the build dates.
  3. Thanks everyone for their input and Trof for confirming and yes you are indeed correct. I have removed the plastic caps on the inside using a thin, long nose screw driver and wedged them out and banana plug slipped right in. Cheers guys!
  4. Thanks for the pics guys. I'm assuming I've just bought plugs too thick then? Can anyone shed some light on what thickness the ones that plugged in are knowing I've used 4mm which didn't fit?
  5. Strange how theres so many different comments. Are they somehow different throught the same models? I bought the 4mm Gold plugs from Radio Parts. Here you are; http://www.radioparts.com.au/ProdView.aspx...ANANA+PLUG+GOLD. I'll have to have a closer look. I've only just started wiring all mine up and I just assumed since my wall plates are fine that the back of the LX71 would be the same but obviously not as it wouldnt plug straight in. But in saying that I didn't have much space to actually look if anything was stopping it that needed removing so I'll look tonight. Cheers!
  6. Thanks for the feedback guys, I might have to make the back of mine a little more accessible if thats the case. Banana plugs make it so much easier but if its not possible, GRRRRRRRRR is all I have to say.
  7. I was just wondering, looking at the speaker plugs on the back of my LX71, what size banana plug can be used into the receiver if it allows one? or does it only allow you to screw bare wire as the manual suggests.
  8. G'day Brad, I've got a set on lay buy at the moment. I can't wait to hook them up and I have to tell you, part of the reason for my choice was that awesome subby. Why aren't you keen on it? The specs are great, professionally designed for ultimate sound quality and looks gorgeous. I don't know why you would want to change it? Whilst on the subject, I've posted my own thread elsewhere but I havent had any responses as yet so I'll post it here, if you don't mind. Would you have any idea what the price of M1 stands would be where you're purchasing them from are?
  9. G'day Foxy, As fussy as some people are, I did tell them to check out your website and some even claimed that the cable on your front page isn't even the cable your selling? Which I can sort of agree as it does have a totally different outer sheath/braide in the picture compared to the nylon netting but nevertheless, I've been happy so far. Cheers!
  10. Hi Guys, I've recently been holding off on 2x sets of these stands due to the ridiculous price of them. I do like them, I think they will finish off my MT-30 system very nicely but the RRP of $399 and the lowest I've been quoted, without budging one bit, was $349 per pair. I've tried reading up on the stands on the B&W website and other related websites just to read up why they are so expensive and what they are made of etc etc just to justify paying that much, but I just can't find enough info. I just thought I'd put my feelers out there if anyone has a set they would like to sell (Black) or if they know of anywhere that sell them considerably cheaper. Thanks!
  11. G'day Foxy, I just want to start off this post by saying I'm very happy with the quality, service and price, spot on mate! I've recently been promoting your products around different circle of friends and have found them not as keen as the many of us. Their main objection, although the plugs look great, was the quality of the cable itself. They've seen many other so called quality cables that have a nice braiding around it compared to our plastic look alike braiding and they're claiming the braide adds to how well the cable peforms with interference. I'm well over the different biased comments and opinions of people and in my mind, if the braiding is just there for looks and doesn;t actually do anything, then who cares as no one will see it anyway? Whats your opinion and what would be your comeback, that I could use, when people compare cables to yours and question the braiding?
  12. Lyle, No problem mate, and no offence was taken, I'm just being my stubborn self. In your analogy though, I actually read the paper from front to back daily and that is how it is written, with obvious commas and full stops ofcourse. I do understand what your saying but I don't think its me, its just people having lazy eye and short concentration spans. Thanks anyway champ.
  13. G'day Foxy, After our recent dilemma with your website not showing clearly what it was intended to, and causing a stir, I received my cables, minus 1, today and I am very happy. Thanks again for clearing up the slight hiccup and you did so very satisfactory. I'll definately be recommending your cables and service to others. Cheers buddy!
  14. G'day Tony, I thought I wrote as clearly as possibly, being my first thread, to get my point across but obviously after hearing it from 2 of ya now then maybe I'll keep that in mind for future questions. I ended up buying a reasonably high quality cable at a very good price from someone off ebay and I was able to pickup locally, have a look at it before handing over the cash, and I was very happy with the product. He also sold 24k banana plugs also and only sold em at $2ea so I was pretty impressed on quality and price, just what I was looking for actually. I definately recommend him, lookup the name Bora, not Borat, lol and have a look at his online ebay shop. Wide variety of products, including some bizarre ones. He doesn;t advertise the gold banana plugs on there but he does stock em. Anyway, I'm ending this feed now, thanks to everyone for posting and reading over my poorly created thread. Like I said, it was my first and I did state an apology in advance
  15. Tony, I'm needing new cable due to repositioning the avr so the current cables are too short and I'm out of the same cable. I'll read on from other posts and see what the go is. Cheers!
  16. Lyle, If you can't read plain english, scroll on, looks pretty plain and simple to me and a few others. Thanks for your advice and comments anyway.
  17. Guys, thanks for your feedback. I knew there would of been a million posts abotu cables on this site so the ones you pointed me too gave me plenty to read. Because I don;t know enough about the subject, I just feel I'm getting caught up in the hype of having to buy the best cables to get the best out of my devices. I come from an IT backround so I can only compare it with data transmission and theres plenty of options there too when it comes to quality cables or not with good sheilding. I'm even considering giving CATe a go but I'm not sure how the twisted pairs would rate but I'm pretty sure a good solid core cable wouldnt be far off the quality. Anyway, theres plenty to choose from and I'm not getting caught up in the hype too much and getting carried away with ridiculous prices and flushing my cash down the drain. I can buy a quality 14 gauge OFC cable of 100m for around $90 and I wont be spending much more than that, I just would like to hear other peoples pov. How would audio transmission rate on a twisted pair CAT5 cable do you reckon?
  18. Hi all, I'm in the process of building a reasonably good HT system and after getting alot of my ideas, feedback, opinions etc etc off the DTV forums, one part of it I thought would be an easy task, without having to research too much, would be the speaker cables but I tell you, after spending a fair bit on equipment, I thought the last thing I want to do is ruin it with poor cabling so I've posted my first topic to hopefully ask people to help me through their experiences and possibly professional opinions. I have a Pioneer SCLX-71 which will be driving a B&W MT-30 speaker setup 5.1, possibly 7.1. I've already run the wall runs when I renovated years ago with what I was told was professional grade 12 gauge figure 8 cable which hasn't caused any noticible loss of sound quality. I only had a low end Pioneer amp running small Wharfedale bookshelf speakers and the music/movie experience wasn't too bad but obviously didn;t contain any of the new age digital inclusions. I'm relying on the wall runs to be sufficient but I'm also willing to test a separate floor cable run to the same speakers to see if theres any difference also. With so many brands, sizes, qualities of cable out there all posing to be the best you can get, can anyone see through the marketting crap and actually know what is good and what is crap? I don;t want to make cables sound like they're simply a feed of copper wires in a pvc shield, or is that simply all they are all being jazzed up to be something different from the rest? Ideally I would like a high quality cable at a reasonable price without havig to spend $100's on a brand of cable if its not necessary. I'd probably include some decent banana plugs to make it look tidy and easy to plug in and the only ones I've seen were a pair on the back of a speaker at Selby which were labelled Monster and had a very nice construction to them with swivel ends which were gold with black plastic casing but they don;t actually sell them, they were just on show. Anyway, sorry to bore you all with a mundane question and I'm also sorry if this topic has already been posted because I did do a search but didn;t actually come across any of the topics which I thought sounded similar. Thanks guys!
  19. I don't understand why they don't reintroduce the electric chair, hanging or even the 5 soldier shoot out. Would be handy for people like Nurquzik.
  20. G'day Zorq, I just had mine delivered from Syd. When I was desperately looking around for one recently, there were none left in Vic according to JB's system and only a couple places left with them in stock, and thats not to say their system is accurate which it wasn;t with a couple of stores. I found 1 store in Syd with 1 left on the shelf and I had to bargain over the phone and get a friend to pick it up for me and send it down, he wasn;t happy mind you because they weigh a tonne. The thing is also, with not many of these left in store, and with Pioneer only manufacturing presale orders left before discontiuing, JB know of this and aren't easy to budge anymore even though I was able to bargain down quite significantly. If someone is willing to part with theirs at around the $1400 mark I would snap it up if you have ya heart set on this model otherwise just wait and extra months pay and grab yourself the 81.
  21. I just wanted to send a post thank you to Mo for conducting this GB and to everyones comments and feedback. Hopefully together with a considerable saving and playing enjoyment, we'll all live in the perfect world, ummm maybe not! thanks again. I just wanted to ask a possibly repeated question, as I haven't had time to scroll through the feeds, but I've chosen Option 1 in this GB only because I prefer the peace of mind of a warranty and to not experience a DOA and be totally p!ssed. I was reading a little while back that due to the Blu Ray hierarchy making region free illegal and so Oppo choosing to release them region locked within the ruling to avoid any legal battle, I was under the beleif that region free wasn't going to be available or have I missed a very important announcement? Are mods simply inevitable and cracks are always going to be produced so these Blu Ray people are simply trying to police the manufacturers knowing the rebellion are still going to get their way? Sorry, I've just missed something between reading something a little while ago and now we're able to order 25 premodified units directly from the states? God is watching you know, hahahah so how is Oppo getting away with this now? I apologise in advance for my ignorance. Cheers!
  22. ToolTime, I actually found a set of settings on another Philips TV forum for the previous model. When I first got the TV I performed the calibration setup guide of the TV itself and found I was choosing options which seemed nice to the eye but were actually too bright. I then inputted these following options; contrast 88 brightness 48 colour 50 sharpness 4 Pixel Perfect HD ON 100mhz - Minimum All other options turned off. and I havent changed it since and found them very easy on the eye giving great PQ, nice contrast and brightness levels which don't strain the eye after lengthy viewing. I've even left the 100Hz option off at times unless I'm watching footy as I found that the picture generation was too much when just viewing normal shows and then turned it on watching sport only. Once again, its personal preference and what could be nice for ones eyes is terrible for the other so treat it as just a guide. I don;t know why the person who displayed those settings chose those exact settings either but they seemed to work for him and me also. Good luck!
  23. ToolTime15, I think they've just made a stupid mistake. I just clicked on your link for the catalogue and did read the same. They've just received this model we've all purchased recently and only starting to put these on the floor from their warehouses so I can;t see it being any different from the ones myself and others have already purchased. Its simply a mistake and I think they're going to regret that typo if people are expecting it to have that option. Especially at $3,799, theres no way it would have ambilight also.
  24. I would be surprised if they do bring out Ambilight with the 52" in October when they havent for the 42" or 47". My understanding was the reason they included it in the European market and not in the Oz market on the 9703 was because of the price increase making it harder to compete in the market here. Including Ambilight would increase the cost to almost an extra $1K and I wouldnt think that bringing out the 47" at around $3,800 without it, they wouldve had much success, although better Tv's, with other cheaper Sony's, Samsung's, Sharp's or LG's if they tagged it at $4,800 for a 47". Thats my understanding anyway. Like I've said before, compared to the world market, Oz is miniscule and I'm not sure of the stats or buying trends but we're possibly even stingier when it comes to Entertainment equipment so why would they release a High end TV when no one is going to buy it because its too dear compared to the other brands? I think they smartly designed the High End 9703 model to suit their costs without the Ambilight and fit in well within our market to be able to compete which I think they've done quite well. Thats my lack of knowledge understanding of it all.
  25. I've had my 47PFL9703D for almost 2 months now and have no annoying problems whatsoever. I'm a huge fan of this telly and not because I forked out the money for it. Like I've said before, if I found any problems with it after purchase I wouldve been back on here letting out my frustration but in actual fact, I've actually gone quiet from this topic because I'm totally pleased, blown away and enjoying every minute of my viewing experience from it. Even the adds are worth watching these days, sadly enough. If anything I am saving up and lookign forward to adding my first BluRay player to the collection which I'm looking forward to experiencing the full benefits of 1080P. If anyone is interested in buying this unit, you wont be disapointed. In terms of looks with its plastic wave border, I actually find it impressive and attractive, not an eye sore. In terms of picture, you will be blown away when setup properly. I'm not an expert on the technology and all of the Tv's capabolities but for what I use it for, FTA, DVD, SD Foxtel, I'm impressed by its stunning pictures and watching the Olympics and Footy is jaw dropping at how crisp the picture is.
