  1. The ion kit is steep but damn it looks good - how have you found it nonny?
  2. Yeah that's what annoys me - I suppose we'll have to wait for the US release of RB3 before RB2 comes out here... I believe though that the guitar (and obviously mic) are cross compatible, so I'd only be after the RB2 drum kit. I suppose I could just buy that couldn't I... it is compatible with GHWT (right?!). And of course I'd want the cymbal pack...
  3. I KNOW it isn't my playing - especially on the songs I've played to-date. Pretty sure I can get 100% (minus the odd miss one invariably gets here or there), as I've only played the first handful of songs. I'd love to get RB2 but I'm still not 100000% clear on the cross-compatibility, especially if its an import game and my GHWT and everything else on my PS3, is Australian. I can't justify having two completely separate games... well, I guess I can depending on the price. Perhaps I can get something shipped to the address of one of my firm's US affiliates and get them to send it on! First port of call is see if I can get a refund on my drums cos its just ridiculous. Do you like my chances?!
  4. I'm not real keen on importing though (RB2 isn't available locally yet, is it?) Edit: $219 (presumably USD) including shipping for Goodwoodmods - really??!! Yikes!
  5. Howdy folks I stand (well, sit) here, a broken man! I bought the game from dStore on initial release, and of course promptly had issues with the yellow cymbal. Subsequent to that (and before receiving a replacement cymbal under warranty) I had some issues where the kit would just basically die during game play. And by that I mean no hits would register, the lights would all flash and it would end up not being recognised by the receiver. I've also tried the tuning kit with limited success. Thus I was sent an entirely new drum kit - pedal, cymbals, the works. I am now on my second kit. It hasn't worked properly since day one. Double-hits on the yellow cymbal. Cross-talk between the yellow and snare. Halfway through Am I Evil nothing seemed to register and I quickly failed. Then a second later it was fine. I even tried putting the legs right down as I thought perhaps the vibration through the kit was causing errors. Not much more success. I go to the Recording Studio and play with the tuning kit, and it works fine. I even try hitting it fairly hard, as I'm sure that there is the propensity to not necessarily hit the pads as hard in the studio as one isn't 'caugh in the moment' of playing an actual song. Put simply: it is impossible for me to get a streak of more than about 30 if I'm lucky, and I end up hitting very low percentages. It really is detracting from what should be a thoroughly enjoyable gaming experience. Has anyone else had any similar issues? Any tips or advice? I'm considering asking for a refund or at least some sort of cash back on the kit and stumping up (exxy, but if it works it works!) for an Ion Drum Rocker kit, so if anyone has used one of those as well I'd be pleased to hear about it. Thanks for taking the time to read my rant, any feedback welcomed.
  6. I suspect you'd need to be a fairly competent actual drummer to pull it off. Or at least, if you've 'learned' drums via GH, you will end up a pretty competent drummer if you can do it! I just realised that due to various warranty claims I already do have an additional kick pedal. What is the adaptor that I need to plug them in though?
  7. I suspect the touch pad will come into it's own in that regard - I've not really used it previously as I don't get to play very often, but hopefully I'll practice enough that I can switch from frets to touch pad during a song successfully! Also, I believe while you're playing guitar it is a must to bend the knees and hunch the shoulders over Hetfield-style! Just adds to the realism
  8. Yup - that's exactly where I'm at! Incidentally a quick web search shows Amazon has the second kick pedal, including required adaptor, for about $15 US I think, not sure about shipping though.
  9. I was singing along too - not something I did all that often on the regular GHWT, so I can only assume it's because I know the Metallica songs so effing well. Or better yet, normally when I sing along while I'm playing it is horrendously out of tune; when I'm singing along to Metallica, I'm actually trying to emulate the actual vocals (ie I'm sounding remotely like Hetfield rather than my usual strangled-cat). The kids (and my wife) were trying to talk to me while I was playing but they didn't have much success getting through
  10. I would have thought the level of coordination and reflexes required to play on Expert, and Expert + for that matter... you'd be able to operate a kick pedal. I've not done a lot on expert (though I do play a little bit of real drum) but surely it moves that fast and requires you to be pretty good.. I'd have thought if you can do that then you'd be capable of using a kick pedal. Is there any difference between Expert and Expert +, other than the kick pedal (for anyone that has tried it)?
  11. Not yet, though I don't have the second pedal. My suspicion is that is an issue of necessity and thus wouldnt' be separately identified - a quick succession of bass hits would be a good indication that it's necessary! But certainly interested to hear if anyone HAS done it.
  12. Alright, first thoughts? I like the 'story' aspect to it - didn't like that you couldn't skip through the intro bit even if you wanted to, when the band is walking up to the stage to Ecstasy of Gold (Have I got the right song there?). Love the guitar effects when you use the slider bar wah type function - very Metallica. I've started the game on medium and only played half an hour - the note charts are pretty good I think thus far (I've done Bellz, Unforgiven and Sandman), they sort of roughly approximate (or at least, as well as you can with 4 frets!) the actual playing, which I do actually know. Even the sound mix I thought was good - I was playing with my eldest stepson on bass and the bass sound was really good and strong. Also knowing how far you are from achieving a certain score/stars level is good.
  13. I'm positively giddy! I think my biggest problem is my 3 stepsons; they don't have the wrist strength, or attention span for that matter, to play most of the songs given they clock in consistently over 7 minutes! I'll have try playing it on my own most of the time.
  14. My hero! I play guitar too mate - no I can't play Blackened. I do play in a REAL band though. If you've got nothing to add that's actually ON THE TOPIC then sod off.
  15. Suuuuuuch a good song, Blackened. Imagine playing THAT on the Expert+ mode!
  16. I think you'll find Blackened is already on a game - or at least, I remember AAAAAAAGES ago seeing it on YouTube, not sure if it was a custom song or not.
  17. Just saying he has no link to the TOPIC mate. Pretty sure he won't feature in the GAME, nor any song he owns the legal rights to.
  18. Haggle?! You really think they'll want to haggle on a $29 game??!! My opinion FWIW, if a game isn't worth $29 then it isn't worth $25 either! I couldn't see them, assuming they'll budge, going much cheaper than that... it's either worth it or it isn't!
  19. At the risk of saying something RELATED to the original topic (!), update is that Lemmy is now a playable character in the game. Linky
  20. I really knew very little of Megadeth until GH2. Then Hangar 18 became my favourite song to play on it, and I've now got a few albums. They're still miles behind Metallica, though there's no doubt in the world that Mustaine is mighty handy on the axe.
  21. A further thought: I wonder if No Leaf Clover will be the S&M version or will it be sans orchestra?!
  22. Dunno about 360 but I hae PS3 and it was free for me...
  23. Just in case you're planning on importing: Pedal to the metal Looks like Metallica fans who also happen to play the drums on Guitar Hero: World Tour are getting a reprieve. Act fast, and you get a whole extra bass drum pedal. Joystiq dug up this useful listing on the GameStop online catalog, offering a free pedal as a bonus for pre-ordering Guitar Hero: Metallica. The pedal comes with a splitter, allowing it to be used simultaneously with another pedal, which should give you a helping hand when working through Lars Ulrich's more, uh, lively performances. The foot pedal will arrive with Guitar Hero: Metallica, which ships March 29. Best get to warming up those drum sets.
  24. No idea - not sure it needs a 'special' way of charting the double kick stuff, I suspect it will simply be a function of necessity; there will be many close together bass notes that will REQUIRE you to use the double kick to be able to hit them.
