  1. Yes sounds like the one, will let you know what I think but don't have much else to compare to as it's the first 4K set I've owned.
  2. Not even sure on the model tbh, might have been a 7 series? My wife and I just bought it from Harvey Norman it was only $1800ish on sale last week, which seemed reasonable for a 4k 75" TV. Was more of an impulse buy. Doesn't get delivered for another 3 weeks though.
  3. Ended up being just the lamp not what the tech said (lamp driver). Gave the set to my parents lol and acquired another set from a bloke who didn't want it any more (so now have 2 70" models). Have just bought a 75" Samsung but curious to see if anyone is still using their old rear Pro Sony TVs?
  4. Olddddd thread revival. My 70" has just died, displaying 5 red blinks and won't display any picture. TV tech thinks the lamp driver needs replacing but unfortunately the part is no longer available from Sony. Can any one on here help sourcing a lamp driver or point me in the right direction before I finally put this behemoth television set to rest? Thanks!
  5. The refurbished OB's were installed in home so I don't know if they had the chance to test them prior. Not good buddy, where abouts are you located and is your set still under warranty (70" or 60")?
  6. Thanks, problem sorted by updating the mod kit firmware via merlin audio website
  7. W212 who is repairing your set? European Electronics of Melbourne have tried 2 optical blocks in mine so far, the first had very poor convergence and the second which is still in my TV, has perfect picture but is not aligned to the top of the TV (2-3cm off). The tech said he would be in contact with me soon once he has a solution... So far I have found European Electronics great to deal with, the owner Angelo seems very willing to help.
  8. I'm having a problem with my region free modded BDP-93 that I got with this group buy. The player seems to be locked on region B for blu ray, I can press 1, 2, or 3 to turn the player on but the region does not change and stays on B. I have disconnected the power as well and it still won't revert back to region A like it is supposed to. I am all out of ideas and was wondering if anyone can suggest anything I can try?
  9. I have a broken Topfield TF7000HT HD set top box that died on me a while ago and I really have no need for it and will not be getting it repaired. It was working fine and then all of a sudden it would not power on, if I had to have a guess I would say power supply or fuse related(?) but really have no clue. I was going to turf it but thought I would first check on this forum if anyone thinks they can fix it and wants to come and pick it up for free you're more than welcome to, i'm sure it could be repaired. I purchased this in 2006 where I paid $495 from Wicked Digital haha. I have original box, manual and remote packed with it as well. I am located in Box Hill North, Melbourne. If you're interested just send me a private message or email to timmcconnell75@hotmail.com (email will be quicker), otherwise it will end up in the bin... Was a really good STB and has a few scratches on it and the front mirror panel is warped a bit (can glue it back down). You could even sell the remote on ebay and make a small profit haha if you can't get it working. Cheers.
  10. Well my Topfield TF7000HT died on me a while ago and I really have no need for it and will not be getting it repaired. It was working fine and then all of a sudden it would not power on, if I had to have a guess I would say power supply or fuse related, but really have no clue. If anyone wants to come and pick it up for free you're more than welcome, i'm sure it could be repaired. I still have the receipt from 2006 where I paid $495 from Wicked Digital haha. I have original box, manual and remote packed with it as well. I am located in Box Hill North, Melbourne. If you're interested just send me a private message or email to timmcconnell75@hotmail.com (email will be quicker), otherwise it will end up in the bin... Just had a look on ebay where just the remotes alone are going for $30. You can make a profit haha!
  11. FINALLY hooked my OPPO up to my Sony SXRD 70" Bravia and initial impressions were quite favorable haha
  12. Just had another refurbished OB installed today, picture quality is back at 95% and absolutely stunning! Huge difference in quality to the previous refurbished unit they installed (which had the convergence issues). Some crappy iPhone pics can even portray the very good picture quality: http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu203/t...36/6920210b.jpg http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu203/t...36/d308e0c2.jpg There is now unfortunately a new alignment problem, the tech spent quite a while trying to align the OB but couldn't get the picture to reach the top of the screen (can't be corrected in service menu AFAIK), falls short by a few centimeters, so not sure where they will go from here, but he did say he would get back to me. I am tempted to just put up with the small, fairly un-noticable black space at the top of screen because the picture is amazing and my TV has been yellow for a very long time. You can't see the misalignment via the corner markers in the following pic, adjusted as high as they can go: http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu203/t...36/33343f5f.jpg Owen I hope you get everything sorted soon, and I definitely agree with you on the SXRD still being up there with the best the market has to offer at the moment.
  13. I have just killed my launch day 60g by pinching the BR drive power cable and shorting out the board (irreplaceable as they are encrypted/paired to the main board) FTL! Also repaired my 40g YLOD numerous times but as mentioned was not a permanent fix and keeps coming back. Probably sell them off for parts on ebay and get a new one...
  14. Thanks champ. Glad to hear yours it back in business, did you have it fixed recently, if so where abouts did you have the work done? I have just called European Electronics again to discuss my convergence issues, been dealing with a guy named Angelo and he has been fantastic, customer service so far is exceptional. He has arranged for a technician to come out to my place later in the week to see if he can have a play around with the service menus to fix it (i've already tried via the service menu so honestly I can't see the issues being solved this way). If the problem remains, hopefully they can rebuild my old OB that they now have and it will solve my issues. He did mention they have done a few of these and seem to have a high success rate, so fingers crossed. Owen, any developments with your 70" inch and SSS Electronics? In other news my reconditioned LG MW-60SZ12 60" rear-proj' LCD is just starting to develop a blue tinge in the bottom left of screen haha, I don't think I will ever buy another rear projection TV again, even though the SXRD is simply awesome when it is working.
