Carl, read that thread and I'm none the wiser! Hi Peter, I had an S1 and the power supply has gone. Its streaming was pretty good (sometimes). I've got a popcorn player so its not a dealbreaker- but would be good if I could setup the 2400 to stream as well.

Hi guys, Just picked up a 2400 today. It's great to be back with Topfield after 2years with the bug ridden Beyonwiz S1. I've trawled this forum exenstively, and don't think I've found a clear answer re: streaming movies from my computer. Can I do this with the current Dec firmware? My computer isnt coming up in the list of devices. I'm running Snow Leopard and on a MacBook Pro. Any help appreciated. I'm hoping its just a simple setting. Thanks.

Is this still a reccomended buy? Is there anything on the horizon (even from Sony) that addresses these issues?

Maybe the HTPC is the way to go- I know a couple of guys running a Mac Mini with PLEX at the moment, seems to be promising. And as to my thread locking comment- there was a couple locked. I dont really care to tell you the truth- but just adds to the perception that the forum is too heavily moderated. Instead of stopping an entire (to the most part- negative) discussion about the f/w, why not just delete the few offending posts in question? Easy excuse to silence complaints maybe? Who knows. BTW: I'm having a major stuttering problem with 720P files on the BW atm. Can anyone help? Not sure If I'll get branded a "troll" by the BW fan click if I start the thread here.

Trolls like me? That's a bit harsh Tony. I havent been on that forum for the best part of a year. There's no need for personal attacks. Anyone would think you're part of the company the way you overreact to any criticism aimed at the BW.

I'm keen to know the answer to this too. Cant wait to get rid of mine- its a joke. Might just have to get the new Popcorn Hour and go back to my Topfieild for the ICE TV PVR. A bit to think about. Also, seems you cant even ask about new firmware updates over at the BW forum these days without threads getting locked either.

Most people do unfortunately. I work on the production side of TV advertising and its a constant headache, framing shots, graphics and supers within the 4:3 safe zone- even while shooting or producing in 16:9FF Its a pain in the arse to say the least. Totally destroys the ideal frame composition we could get if we didnt have the 4:3 TV crowd to cater for.

What an absolute joke. Channel 10 have lost it.

Anyone had any experiences using Plex as their primary media player hooked up to a HT? http://elan.plexapp.com/ Had a Beyonwiz for quite a while- but starting to think about loading up Plex on a Mac Mini and primarily using that to stream movies, music etc. Some of the UI's look amazing.

PRL: Just completed the steps outlined in your post. Fingers crossed! Will check tonight after work. And also, Im not suprised that the thread you linked degenerated into a sh** fight with the core members and mods attacking 1 person for being frustrated with something to do with a product. Its a gang mentality over there and they constantly refuse to acknowledge that the BW programmers are responsible for any of the promises they make. Its a joke. /rant

OK, entering user & pass into the Windows sharing settings on the BW has worked! BW can now see my Mac. Thanks for your help everyone! In saying that, it seems I've got the same problem as other users who've updated to 10.5.4 Cant access any files and hangs my BW. Anyone found an easier solution to that posted in the BW forum with rolling back setup files with Pacifier etc? Looks like a pain in the ar**

Latest firmware on the B/W. I know what you're talking about now. Aaah, yes, sorry- I'll have a go tonight and enter in the details of the admin account (only account) on my Mac and see if It works. Cheers PRL (and everyone else).. Hopefully will have good news later.
