If you're referring to floating blacks, I've never seen it on my 58VT20. If it was there I would have noticed it.
Cheers.
Andys.
I wish that was the case for me.
Spoils an otherwise good panel.

However, after watching Tron Legacy in 1080p last night, with lots of bright whites/white-blues next to deep blacks (the good guys suits/bikes/etc...) in high movement scenes, it was noticable and boardering on distracting. It may of been my source material of course, but I doubt it. I did have playback stuck on 60Hz though.
This sounds more like phosphor lag rather than posterisation.
Posterisation occurs between subtle gradients, whereas phosphor lag you see in fast movement of high contrast scenes. Tron would be an excellent example. Sin City is another one.

And the Panasonic GT's suffer from a new phenomena labelled floating brightness/whites.

I have noticed this effect on my 54" version of this T.V. On Foxtel, DVD's and free to air broadcasts. I have a tech coming out Monday to have a look. managed to capture some scenes from shows on my IQ2, so have plenty of material to show him. It's very annoying and quite disappointing. I have a 50" Lg Plasma in the bedroom, (had this T.V for about 3 years and was moved to the bedroom when I got the Panasonic.) Never noticed any of this with that T.V. Hoping there is some sort of adjustment, fingers crossed. The fault is more visible when in THX mode.
I've read that the Panasonics perform worse than other plasmas in this area.
Are you able to play the same content on your LG to see if you get the same effect?

Wherever you go, whoever you ask, whatever website or review you see, you'll always get a different response.

I posted another review here.
http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?s=&...t&p=1690392
What stood out for me is that (at least in this model) has limited off axis viewing. Due to it's screen filter apparently.
Similar to LCD, but vertical rather than horizontal.
A step backwards, as this was an advantage to plasma compared to an LCD.
Oh, and still exhibits floating blacks.

Here's a review on the GT30.

Interesting link here showing models and comparisons.

Exactly......... this is insane. I have never seen it nor do I want to . I have a suspicion that a lot of this is another load of w@nk that comes from people in the USA who need to get a life .
If this is an issue that is so obvious like the dog's proverbials I would have seen it by now.
Come to think of it I have seen dead Collingwood supporters .....they appear on the screen when I turn my head away... and they dissappear as soon as I take another look....floating blacks and maybe whites ...who knows???....
Damn you Panasonic!!
I see FB's all the time, so do others.
If you don't see it, good for you, but don't dismiss it as a load of rubbish.
There's no guarantee it won't exist in 2011 models either.

From what I've read, the VT30 may not even address the floating blacks issue.

Do most of you watch in the dark? I have lighting on the back wall to the level recommended on the DVE set-up Blu-ray. Maybe that's why I haven't seen any floating blacks.
I have a 30 watt lamp behind my tv (which sits in a corner) so it provides a fair amount of lighting as it reflects off the wall.
-
I see floating blacks all the time when watching any episode of Vampire Diaries, Fringe, The Gates, Spooks, Being Human.
Any show with darks scenes in it.
Only at night time or early morning with little, or very low, ambient lighting.
It's ironic that it's at night time that plasma's are meant to be at their best, but I don't like this panel for night time viewing at all because of the floating blacks.

Have they addressed the floating blacks issue in the 2011 models?

Aren't Seven ditching Tivo now?

Hey guys
What's the better TV, NX810 or the HX800?
I have a hx800 which has some issues and Bern offered a nx810 to replace it for a little extra
Anyone?
What issues did you have with the HX?
-
A very noticeable issue & I am not the only one.
http://www.avforums.com/forums/plasma-tvs/...elp-please.html
It occurs on 24p bluray (not just 50hz) - stood out on Matrix Reloaded that I was watching tonight.
It is most obvious next to skin on panning scenes; sort of rainbow effect.
What are others' experience?
Is it posterization or phosphor lag?
I see this ALOT.
Particularly on Foxtel, but then again, Foxtel is 95% of my viewing.
It does go away if you enable IFC, but I just can't tolerate its effect.
I didn't expect to see artifacts such as this on a plasma, and I'm disappointed.

For how long would you have your VT displaying the desktop at any given time you think?

I was watching the International Tennis Challenge tournament on Foxtel HD last week. On THX mode the yellow hue is really obvious & annoying. It looked far better on Normal mode.
I think I read a post on here that you can just adjust your blue gain to +5.
This is what I have done, and it's practically erradicated the yellow tinge I also got on THX mode.

Would anyone know what it could possibly be about this TV that plays havoc with my Foxtel remote?
Ever since I bought this TV, using the remote seems hit and miss sometimes and pressing a button on the remote causes it to do something completely random.
Like pressing pause would cause it to turn off, or fast forward would bring up the planner.
I have a few foxtel remotes, and they all behave in the same random way.
It's becoming quite tiresome and annoying now.
Any ideas?

I have recently started to notice posterization too, quite severe on occasions. I noticed it on the SXRD as well, though infrequently. Is it to do with bit-rate? I have not seen any on a BD so far.
I asked the same question, and MLXXX provided an explanation here.
http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?s=&...t&p=1655823
Alot of it went over my head, but I understood the basic concept.
I found this link helped as well.

I feel a bit ripped off that we don't get timer recordings onto USB like overseas models do.
I'd love a feature like that!
We're stuck with just instant record
Why on earth would this not be available to Aust. models?

I don't enable IFC even though it does eliminate this artifact.
I'd rather see dithering/posterisation some of the time, than that aweful motion interpolation all of the time.
