  1. Might go after work, just want to see it in action so i can compare to my current Sony.
  2. Just went to JB, Myers and DJ (Melbourne) and none of them had a 3d display to view. Anyone seen one at their local stores?
  3. just picked a copy for my wife from JB 25, it does say on the back English DTS HD Master Audio (5.1). Is this not the case?
  4. Big dog, classic lol. I also like the popcorn fragrance oil awesome, If Rexona get wind of this I will try the indoor plant and the Bicarbonate for now and then move to stage 2 smell restrictions, the Nilodor and smellgone.
  5. Gior, its not a nasty smell so I would say its not bacterial but its like a new car plastic type of smell. Its stronger than the leather smell from the couch. I should mention that I have a few collectable figures in there which would contirbute to the new smell but its almost been 2 years. Also after a couple of min in there you don't notice it as it becomes a part of you but on entry it hits you. Broke, there where plans to move a microwave in there and a small fridge but never got around to it. Oakenshield, have thought about burning candles etc but havn't tried it as it might be harder to get the scented smell out if I get over it. Simon will give Bicarbonate of soda a try and see what happens. The smell goes on.
  6. I've had my HT room for almost 2 years now and I'm still having a issue with the that new room / furniture smell. The room itself is a room within a room and insulated for sound and as it would appear insulated for smell. On nice days I open it up (2 windows) and let the air con run for a while without any real result. Does anyone have any suggestions as I've read somewhere that this can be very bad for your health like the new car smell.
  7. I've got the Sony Z5500 and the pic is great. Running blu ray looks amazing with lots of depth also the motion plus 200hz works great even for normal dvds. Some people dont like the effect but I think its a big plus. Should be able to get this for 2.1k.
  8. Warner Bros is advertising the release of the lord of the rings 3 pack on bluray, release date April 6th. http://www.lordoftherings.net/
  9. If the subs are on a concrete floor, build a stage full of rockwool and put them on. I have found that the bass will travel to the front of my house via the concrete drive way, HT room is at the back. Also you can try moving the subs closer to the seats or riser if you have one and turn them down, should still get the effect of massive bass without the complaints.
  10. With the current heat wave in Melbourne I realised that the best place to be is in the HT room watching a TV fav Clone wars series 1 on blu, even with the aircon set to low the room is super cool. The room itself is a converted garage with a air gap between the brick work and the sub frame, insulated for sound but does a great job at keeping the heat out. So if you need any more justification to why you need a HT room you can use the cool factor.
  11. Just rock up and go straight up to a sales dude and say "best price for the pana is x can you do better" I reckon on most occasions they match it or least give you their best price. Shows you've done some home work on the product.
  12. Looks great Scott, one of the photos above with all the equipment on the floor took me back to when I just put my screen up, exciting times. Just got a quick question, in terms of testing the sub what where you looking / listening for? Cheers
  13. I just replaced the KV36 with a 46 Z and your right in terms of FTA TV non hd the 36 looks better. The FTA HD on the Z is probably 20% better in terms of picture but the difference and the reason to buy the Z is that the blu rays look crystal clear and have so much depth its amazing.
  14. I just put the tv cables behind the wall without to much hassle just need a drill and 2 desk grommets (60mm). Locate the studs and mark out the desk grommet hole (just make lots of little holes with a drill and then rip it out) somewhere behind the speaker or to the side (depending on where the stud is) and then drill another hole at the bottom. Put a snake (plastic bit) through one and out the other, done. then you can run the cable down the skirting. You might need to bang in the grommets but be careful as you might crack the plaster luck for me the tv covers it.
  15. One of the settings that helps the pic is under picture make sure its on Vivid, that should make FTA look better and make blu rays jump out of the screen. Also with FTA need to be watching the HD channels the others can look crap. Cheers Edit: Pic setting is vivid not vibrant.
  16. Another happy customer, great service and super quick delivery
  17. Also i think the name SONY still holds itself high in terms of product and service. I know a few people who had massive issues with Samsung customer service and after hearing their complaints I stayed well clear. I do like Panasonic V but the price drop and free ps3 was the clincher for me.
  18. I also went to myer yesterday and the best they could do was 2.8k. I said every one else can do 2.3k yet your 500 more, maybe you should get new buyers! Not very happy with Myers. Got the 46Z from good guys for 2.3k they had it in stock so took it home. Picture is from planet Sony, its that good.
  19. just checked out the JB online store, the Sony prices are below Harveys, 46Z for 2250. Hmm seems the no rebate trick didn't work that good for Sony, lost to much market share.
  20. I had a frame on my dvd shelf just up from the TV and each morning I would wake up and it would be facing the opposite way. Scared the bejesus out of me until one day I saw it start to turn and I froze couldn't move until is stopped and then went over and it was the heater blowing on the wall and hitting the frame.
  21. I have a NAS connected to the ps3 via usb and plays all avi, mov no worries. Doesn't play iso and havn't tried the mt2s (HD) file type.
  22. I just finished a garage conversion, was thinking about adding a frame but due to space available just stuck the plaster boards (13mm soundcheck) directly on the bricks. Insulated the roof with ceiling batts, top underlay for the carpet and weather sealed the door. In terms of noise only the bass can be felt and heard outside. I wouldn't worry about anything other than trying to reduce the bass that goes through the concrete.
  23. They look awesome, big fan of the movies. I have Optimus prime and you could of started a trend here.... What sort of paint did you use if you don't mind me asking?
  24. With my conversion from double garage to Ht room I used both anticon and batts. I put the colour bond roof on myself, just nailed the anticon at one end rolled it out and then put the roof on. The more insulation you get the better off you'll be in the long run, when I redo the roof on the house defiantly be doing both. Also reduces rain noise when we get rain.
