  1. Well done. its an unreal TV.

You ordered yesterday and getting it Friday! WOW that is incredible ,most wait months forthe 65"Panny, you must be in the know!. :D:lol::D

well ... in Singapore the large TV prices are about twice as much as Australia... so... plenty of stock over here at about AUD$8k .... not cheap ... but it is what it is .... at least I'll get it fast ...

I just hope my cabinet will hold the weight... the old 50" NEC is pretty heavy.... so it should be fine ...

the 50" moving to the bedroom (large bedroom), and the 40" in the bedroom moving to the library .... enough TV's alredy ...

  2. Never thought I would own a 65" TV of any sort, saw it pop up on various forums, thought hang on a minute, if I sell my 50" Pio and my Projector & Screen can have one for same bread, bingo, sold the lot (TV collected when new one arrived) and ordered the big Panny 1st week of Dec, it arrived last week Jan. now mounted, looks bloody awesome on the wall.

good to see Foxtail... I ordered mine yesterday.... I was tossing and turning between a projector or upgrade from my 50" plasma.... I think I'd use the plasma more often... so pulled the trigger.... should arrive this Friday ....

  3. just picked up the 609a..$9150 with free bluray player and 6 movies..these panels are gold none left in vic

I was thinking about picking one up and shipping up here to Singapore... in Singapore, the 60 pio is a bargain at 18k (discounted ... rrp is 24k)... and, hard to find .....

my hope now is that panasonic bought Pio plasma .... sooner rather then later we'll start to see some pio technology difuse through pana's model range...

anyway, I have until September to convice the CFO, since we'll be shipping the remainder of our gear in storage from Sydney to Singapore, and it would be a convenient time to ship it all up here .....

  4. I just bought the new Sony 40" W400A ... for the 32, IMHO, the Panasonic 700 is the best there is .... I originally wanted the panasonic, but I couldn't get any stock in Singapore, so I started looking at the Sony 40" and since I inteded to use as a bedroom tv/PC TV, LCD was a better option for this set up.....

the Sony looses a bit of colour when you look at it in an angle, even though you can still see the picture... the pana 32 700 is perfect from any angle you look at it ... if they made that in 40" 1080p ... I would have got a panasonic instead....

the difference between the 70 and 700 model, besides the better contrast is the sound ... the 700 has very good built-in speakers... perhaps it may not justify the price difference (aud$300) here in sing between the 70 and 700 model... but looking at them side by side.. the 700 won hands down... beating even Sony .....

if your budget streches that far and you can get hold of stock the 32 700 is great.

there is also a 37" 1080p model being launched soon ... I haven't seen one in person, but "What Hi Fi" review suggests is no improvement over the 32" 700 PQ .....

  5. I was in Singapore in January. The Onkyo 875 was quoted @ S$2050.

with the GST refund it will be around S$1950 ~ A$ 1510 at today's exchange rate

I guess you have to weight up the warranty issue and the price differential of A$600 excl the cost of shipping

you can get the 875 for around $S 1,850 - then take the GST off at the airport also ....

    S$1,000 more for the 905.... S$ 2,850 .... not bad really....

some things are even cheaper in HK ... I'm here this week.... just spotted a 500Gb external storage for aud$95 .... and yes, that's with the HDD inside... soo cheap....

  6. That's right. He posted for a while saying he had the larger drive but was waiting for a FW upgrade. I think it came through.

    Regards

    Peter Gillespie

Thanks Lyle for the PM ... been too busy with work to check the forums lately .... the move to Singapore didn't help either!

I did upgrade to a 500 Gb Seagate SATA II ( It could have been a 750...) .... the third FW upgrade recognized the correct disk size and I did a reformat and it worked fine.No problems mounting the drive, etc.. tight space, but easier then the old 5000's for HDD upgrades .... better internal layout.

However, the disk was a 'standard PC' issue... and therefore noticeably noisier then the one the toppy comes with ... so my suggestion would be to make a special order for a seagate 750Gb CE edition, which is much quieter and optimised for CE devices ..

I've been in Singapore since mid October... so I haven't kept up with later FW updates on the 7000 .....

Good luck... I'd definitely suggest at least a 750Gb SATA II CE Edition ... prices are pretty good these days .....

    Any questions, please PM me....

    Cheers,

    Marcelo

  7. I'm very happy with the PS3 as a blu ray player..... it is much better then any other stand alone player under $2k .... plus its much more versatyle..... media server, games machine, etc....

the Xbox should come with a HD DVD player as standard.... hopefully the next version will ....

  8. I had a few issues when going from wired to wireless on my 360. Same arrangement as you, the WMP11 saw the 360, but the 360 couldnt see to PC, in test connection, it would say "no PC" or something similar. I uninstalled my anti-virus software, Norton, and as soon as I did this, the 360 found the PC. It gave me a good excuse to get rid of the POS that Norton is and install something better.

Interestingly though, the PC and 360 were fine together when I was using a wired connection and wired ADSL modem/router, its just that when I bought a new wireless modem/router and wireless dongle for the 360, thats when they quit talking to each other.

So try fiddling with the anti-virus software, if applicable.

Thanks Dave..... I will take my Norton's out also!

    Hope that works.....

    Cheers & Merry Xmas,

    Marcelo

  9. Guys,

I don't know what I did to my PC, but the Vista Media Center will no longer connect to my Xbox 360 .... I tried resynching it, I enter the code many times, etc... and nothing, it can't find the Xbox as the 'extender' ..... 360

My 'system restore' won't work either.... again, don't know why .... I tried registry tools, etc... no avail ...

the funny thing is that I can see my Xbox in the 'media share' centre, my firewall settings, my port listings, UDP, etc.. all are fine.....

I'm trying to find a way where I won't have to reinstall Vista ....

Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions ....

    Cheers,

    Marcelo

  10. why do you need 2.5

    for what reason.......

as you probably know ..... or... as far as I'm aware..... to make it region free (for SD DVDs) you need to have 2.5 loaded first... then load 2.51 (region free hacked firmware) ... afterwards you can upload to 2.7 AND still be region free ....

however 2.51 only works if you have 2.5 loaded first.... and I can't find 2.5 anywhere anymore ....

    I have an E1 ... I'm assuming it works for it ...

  11. Hmm... so dos that mean if I get myself a USB external hard drive, load it up with mp3s, divx etc; it'll all work through the 360 now :)

That'd be a lot nicer than my old setup with tversity and wireless etc; especially with support for 5.1 (hopefully HD as well?)

    Tim

external HDD would be great... even USB stick support would be nice....

I'm running the xbox into a wired hub and my PC is on a wireless connection ... I don't think 54mb/s would be enough to sustain HD video..... I'm waiting for my MIMO usb stick to arrive... hopefully I cna get close to 108mb/s .... if that doesn't work, I will need to upgrade my router and my USB stick to Draft N .... I'm determined to get it working!

  12. The Blu-ray BOGOF made me turn purple without a player. I am not even hankering to get a player until the profile 1.1 players and the new HDMI AVRs matures a bit more. I bought 8 Disney tiltles in first BOGOF and 10 Sony titles in the latest one. I had a look at the HD-DVD B2GOF offer and I already have the titles on offer so ended up getting none. Until another BOGOF sale comes along, I won't be buying anymore Blu-ray discs.

the amazon BR BOGOF made me buy a BR player (Playstation 3)..... region 1 .....

  13. There are separate threads here about these beautiful receivers. I'm about to embark on my journey with my first ever AVR purchase and looking for some advice (sure, I helped my dad purchase a Sony ES nearly 10 years ago but that doesn't count).

I was set on getting the Onkyo 875 but now we have the Yamaha 3800 and Pioneer LX60 on the scene for similar prices...the Denon 3808 may be a bit out of reach...

I will be using the receiver mainly for home theatre as a 5.1 setup (bi-amp the surrounds to the fronts). I'm looking for your advice about the 3 receivers in question about the

I moved from a Yamaha 2500 ... I was hoping to buy another yamaha but was disspointed with the 3800 video specs.....

I bought the 905, but I'm sure I'd be happy with the 875 also ... the sound quality is great, pics up a lot of nuances which was bit muddled in the yamaha (not that I knew it was muddled when I had the yamaha... I thought it sounded great too) ....

the video side of things... put it this way ... I have a DVDO VP50 scaler.... and I'm actually putting most sources through the amp and outputting at 1080p ... is that good.... very little if any difference to DVDO on good sources... on bad sd sources (like foxtel), I actually prefer the onkyo... as it cleans up SD a little .... the only thing on the DVDO is that it has many more tweaks for stretching the picture, calibration, output options and the mixed cadence detection is a little better and faster then the onkyo ... but not worth US$3k by itself@!

the Onkyo should not disspoint ....

  14. Cheers Marcelo,

I spoke to Amber Tech's about this and they confirmed no video or photos.

My solution will be to get one of the new Windows Media Center Extenders when they come out in the US next month

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Center_Extender

    Cheers

    Curry

I also use my xbox 360 - however with a 54g wireless network is ok for audio, but not good enough for good quality video, specially HD video .... so either network cable or Wireless Draft N ....

I really wished the 905 would handle video streaming also ... with an inbuilt HDD ... how far away would those capabilities be I wonder???? my next upgrade cycle?
