Well look at 10HD now. So you think you can dance. The Logo on the screen says 10SD2. WTF? -
Homecast Ht8000pvr Vs. Topfield Tf7000hdpvrt
BAXR6T replied to ralwig88's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
The Topfield had fantastic PQ but was very unstable. So many firmware upgrades and people still having major issues with them. Mine just died after one week so I took it back and got the Homecast. The PQ on the homecast was no where near as good as the topfield and much cheaper about $600 compared to $700 for the Topfield. The Homecast has very annoying audio dropouts that could not be rectified. If you look at the forums for both Topfield & Homecast you will see what I'm talking about. So I took it back and bought the Beyonwiz DP-P1. It's PQ is on par with the Topfield and no audio dropouts. The firmware releases actually fix problems and don't create new ones also you can stream files from your PC as well as wireless. In my opinion it's worth the extra $279 on top of the $600 I paid for the Homecast. The Homecast was a stable box but I didn't like the PQ and the audio dropouts through my Yamaha receiver optical connection was driving me mad. Oh yeah my Topfield needed a new motherboard after one week so nuts to that. Apparently it is a common problem. It just wouldn't power on...far too many bugs in this box thus is why I recommend the Beyonwiz. Goo luck. -

Homecast Ht8000pvr - Transferring Files Onto A Pc
BAXR6T replied to Zacha1503559777's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
Ok I have tried all this. I have copied a file from Homecast to a laptop successfully. I have installed the Kmplayer and it won't play it. I can't find anything that will convert these .tpo files to a more usable format. Has anyone had any luck here? I want to be able to convert and burn the recordings to DVD. Cheers, Greg -
What are people paying for the DP-P1 at the moment. I've got a Homecast HT8000 at the moment and the sound drop outs are driving me mad. I never had this with my other boxes. Cheers, Greg

I had the same pixilation issue. Had my antenna looked at and it had moved out of position. Now picture is great. I also had troubles with getting certain channels...no more of an issue since the antenna had been re-aligned.

9HD Loop. Is that still running? I have never seen it.

Yes you can record Foxtel Digital to a DVD recorder. Only the Box Office movies can't be recorded. It will start to record then stop after a few minutes. All other channels including the standard movie channels can be recorded. Cheers.

LST 5403P and HD on channel 7?
BAXR6T replied to Mark Prentice's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
This is because Channel 7 only transmit their HD 70 Channel in 576p. A good STB will upscale to 1080i like the Teac which I have. -
Yes my output is set to Component & 1080i on the set top box
-
Yes it can. I have component going to the back of my Pana 86cm HD CRT and S-Video going to my Pioneer HDD/DVD Recorder. Works a treat. Only issue you can't record one channel and watch another. No big deal I have Foxtel Digital so free to air channels are on that also. BAXR6T

Here Foxtel go again, Almost 2 years ago Foxtel told me that their digital service was HD and I didn't need a HD setop box for my then new TV. It's not and it's barely SD. The bandwidth is used for their movie channels and Box office movie channels. Everything else is just OK. I threatened Foxtel with legal action because of the lies they were telling people and won. I ended up with free foxtel for 12 months. The difference here is the it wasn't foxtel saying it was Super HD it was the installer who doesn't even work for foxtel. These guys know nothing. If foxtel wasn't too bloody expensive it would be good. Cheers and enjoy your non Super HD Digital Foxtel. I do.

Recording from HD STB -> DVD Recorder
BAXR6T replied to aNt^'s topic in Media Servers & Source Units
The Teac can do it. I connect to the TV via Component and to my Pioneer HDD/DVD recorder via S/Video. Works like a dream. Picture is very good but remember it's only SD. You can record the HD channels but the picture is not as good but very bloody close. Cheers -
I have a friend that bought one of the Soniq 42" Plasmas. It has DVI input so I was wondering if it was a SD panel or HD panel. The manual is a joke and doesn't say much. the salesman sold then a Teac DVB420 STB with it. Anyone know? Cheers.

I'm sorry...but I can't see the differences between the boxes. Even the picture is of the 800. Does anyone know anything about the box? Have a look: http://stb.teac.com.au/products/hdb820.html Cheers.

Panasonic has one of the best pictures I have ever seen. I have the 86cm WS/HD and it's great. Have the Teac 800 connected vis component. HD pictures are stunning. Sony are good but I preferred the Panasonic. I thought the picture was better. The salesman explained the differences between the 2 brands and he recommended the Panasonic. I agreed with him. Cheers.

Channel 7 has a lot to answer for.....not only do you get sound pops when it goes to and from a commertial (Dolby/MPEG), you now get the sound screech. My speakers were up quite loud at the time. It scared the crap out of me....let's not forget it could have blown the speakers as well. Lift your game Channel 7. You might not be able to do anything about you crappy High Definition of 576p but you should be able to do something about the sound.

RGB Input into the DVD recorder ????? Which recorder does that. I have the Pioneer 80GB HDD/DVD recorder that I connect my Teac HD Box to, but the input's are either RCA or S-Video. Of Course I use S-Video. Picture is quite good even though it down converts HD to SD but there is not much difference. It has Component, S-Video & RCA out but of course I use component. Cheers, Greg

Free to air STB vs Foxtel Digital
BAXR6T replied to skipjack's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
PilotPal....it's because they took Foxtel to court over it. It took Ch2 ages to agree to transmit their digital signal. I have also been told they they never will agree something about a monopoly. No one would need to buy a SD STB if all they needed was Foxtel Digital. The difference between Foxtel Free to air channels and a good STB is huge. Cheers. -
Free to air STB vs Foxtel Digital
BAXR6T replied to skipjack's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
Foxtel only transmit SD no HD. I have Foxtel Digital Satellite and I love it but I'm sorry it doesn't hold a candle to a HD STB. Ch 9, ABC, ABC2 & SBS transmit in digital. On Foxtel cable you also get analogue Ch7 & 10. Because it's analogue and you have a widescreen TV it stretches the picture so everyone is short and fat.....looks crap. I watch Fox for everything else except free to air channels. Try watching the AFL through Foxtel. The picture breaks up terribly and freezes on occasions. Get a HD STB....soon you will understand. -
Channel 7 HD Audio Issues
BAXR6T replied to djbigk1503560164's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
Hi All, That's a relief in a way. Nothing wrong with my Teac. Someone stated that software update v1.07 was meant to fix the sound pops but how can it when it's transmission related. Channel 7 need to pull their finger out and fix this....that's if they are going to. I was going to replace my Teac with the AUSID box but not now if it suffers the same problem. So who is going to complain to Channel 7? Cheers Greg -
Channel 7 HD Audio Issues
BAXR6T replied to djbigk1503560164's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
I have exactly the same thing with my Teac HD box. I thought it was the box. Maybe it's CH70 and Channel 7 transmission. The Hotchip is not a rebadged Teac is it? The Teac is a rebadged box itself. -
AUSID or Topfield and DVD?
BAXR6T replied to jlambas1503560166's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
Is there a website where I can see the specs on one of the AUSID boxes. I am still happy with my TEAC because it outputs Component to my TV & SVideo to my HDD/DVD recorder. There are still a couple of niggles with the Teac but if the AUSID can do what the Teac can I might look at changing. -
Future FW releases for the DVB800
BAXR6T replied to Dr_Mutley's topic in Media Servers & Source Units
I agree with being able to change the time that the OSD is displayed would be handy, but it toggles also doesn't it? You can also change the degree of transperancy which helps I feel. As for the favourites thing, there are only 6 channels, just press the number... JSmith  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Since there is now a reminder...how about if this works correctly and have an Auto channel changing....so your PVR can record more than one channel if your not home to change it. -
Hi Guys, I still am getting the sound pops on CH70 when the ads come on after upgrading to 1.07. It's only on this channel and has always been only this channel. This is my 1st upgrade from Ver 1.0. I waited for a stable one. I also find the reminder feature is hit and miss and the Now and Next event still sometimes doesn't work. All in all I'm happy with the upgrade but hopefully these things will be fixed with the official release. I hope I'm not the only one with these common problems after upgrading to 1.07. BTW: The channel changing is a hell of a lot quicker from Ver 1.0. Cheers, Greg.
