  1. Channels 7,9and now 10 having been breaking up ie. no signal for a second or two for ages now and I'm in Gorokan using two HD STBs on different HD tvs. The signal use to be perfect 6 months ago and is now getting worse. There is nothing wrong with STBs or the antennae as they have been good for the previous 18 months. Somethings wrong at Mt Sugarloaf.

    Les,

Can't confirm what SBS did up your way, but ABC definitely made changes (in a lot of areas).

  2. Ok thanks for that. When I press "side by side" I was getting screen message "does not function". I looked in the menu, option 4 but but says cannot adjust. Then found I had to set Avanced OSM to on. I can't get "side by side" with my NEC HD STB via DVI which is RGB3 select and Austar which is on Video 3 as I am using S video to work.

However, I now get 2 pictures side by side BUT only Austar in one (Video3) and DVD (DVD/HD1) in the other, there must some other setting I'm missing.

According to the manual, split screen should work with RGB3 (which is DVI input) and Video 3 (which is "S" video) however it dosen't work. Anyone have it working?

  3. My mistake - it does work with different sources; I had a fiddle last night. I have Austar on video 1, and a Strong HD STB on DVD/HD1. I pressed "side-by-side" and they both came up, and by pressing "active select" was able to switch between the two.

Austar is connected to the panel via s-video, and the Strong via component.

    Mines a 42XR4, BTW.

  4. I have the new NEC NHD2000 and found it to be a good box with a good menu and you can also freeze frame the picture. Unfortunately I am having signal quality problems which I think is due to my location. I have tried the LG 5100p with the same result, but having said that I tried a Kross and Thompson standard definition stb and got excellent reception. So it makes me think the NEC and LG are only good for real strong reception areas.

I bought my NEC NHD200 from Quantum Sphere and got excellent service and price as usual.

  5. I have an NEC 50" plasma which has an option of setting up split screens, but I am unable to get it working. I have 3 main inputs DVI, S and Component which according to the manual I should be able to display at the same time. Does anyone have this function working and if so how did you set it up?

  6. Has anyone got the best phone number for Channel 10 complaints? I am having problems with Channel 10 digital from Bouddi as well. I have ten as both 1 and 10 in my box. Everything else is fine - but there is no Southern Cross signal on 56, even though previous publications indicate there should be?

Yes, how about the phones numbers of all the tv channels for complaints as it's very hard to contact any of them. It's a one way street for them.

  7. Does anyone know how to change the Fan settings in the Service Menu of the 50" plasmas? Is it only done by NEC service computer s/w? I would like to try a different setting as the fan is continuous and I thought it was thermatic.

My settings are under these headings:

Fan Mode ENA CONT ENA DIS

    Fan OFF/L --- cont up 39

    Fan L/M 51 cont time 5

    Fan M/H 54 up step ---

SF save --- down step ---

PLE save --- read time ---

    T Alarm 80 temp level ---

    Ret Time 30

    PLE Time ---

    T1 32 T2 35 PS read 43

    T3 31 T4 --- PSC out 50

    IC Error: ----

  8. I have only just changed my settings on my NEC 50XM4W to Seans original settings via LG5100p and DVI cable and found the picture to be on the soft side compared to the standard settings. Still it looks good and I think I will have to watch for a few days to appreciate the change. have now reach 2309 hours after just under 12 months use.

Is there an update to those settings?

  9. I have an LG 5100P stb and a 127cm NEC Plasma and want to program the LG stb remote control so that I can switch on the NEC plasma. There are no codes in the back of the LG owner's manual for NEC TVs and was wondering if anyone has had success if finding a code that will allow the NEC plasma to be turned on via the TV power button on the LG remote.

This is just in case someone might have missed my request. :-)

  11. Sorry brain cells not aligned properly. I should have said that the audio is through red and black leads connected from the stb audio chanels to the tv audio chanels.

Sound on my LG 5100p can take up to 5 seconds to come on when changing channels. Have digital audio optical running to my amp and DVI to my NEC 127 cm plasma and have had no problems with any other appliances even other stbs so has to be the LG. Also it is slow changing channels and takes a few seconds for sound and picture to stop pixelising and breaking up and to settle down. Once it's settled it is perfect. Seems like a Firmware problem and it's a brand new release.
