From the many emails I sent them with all the issues, I'm disappointed that they didn't replace the optical reader as you mention. Looks like they've gone for the cheapest fix first.
That's what I think too seeing in my emails I sent them links to quotes that said how Oppo had fixed the problem overseas yet everything they did here didn't fix a thing.

I've had to send my Oppo back to Interdyn because I started getting many 4k discs constantly glitching yet they worked fine in my Panasonic.
First time they replaced the main board and that didn't help so they then replaced the loader.
From what I read on the AVS forums Oppo overseas always replaced the optical reader and that fixed their problem.

Have cleaned all the discs. Makes no difference.
Did you try installing the new firmware again?

So I just updated to latest firmware via USB.
Previously, of the 4 latest 4k discs I'd tried, 2 worked and 2 would not. They'd spin up for over 60 seconds, then come up as unknown disc.
Of the 2 not working, one now plays (Black Panther), the other still does not (Avengers Infinity Wars).
Now though, instead of spinning up as Unknown Disc, it freezes the player, and I get a blue screen and have to turn Oppo off and on again.
Ironically, all discs work perfectly on my much much much cheaper Sony UBP-X700 that's in the lounge room
Packing this up tonight, this thing is a lemon.
So disappointed after having a 105D that worked perfectly.
Anyone know if I need to send it back with power cord? (I'm thinking no)
Did you reset factory defaults and also try erasing persistent storage:?

Is this something that the oppo picks up and it updates automatically?
thanks
It wasn't on Friday so I did it by USB but I don't know if the player will do it manually yet.

Pretty sure it's well known and I know Sony mention it and have a few features that try to stop it. Things like pixel shift and doing a screen rinse when it's been off for a while. It also asks you to do a screen refresh after every x amount of hours. They can also be done manually but they recommend not doing more than two a year I think.
If someone left it on CNN or any other 24x7 channel with watermarks like that on it all day they deserve burn in IMO.

I also have the Mission Impossible 1 - 5 4K UltraHD Blu-ray collection for sale $100 and $10 for postage, so $110 total.
I'll take that if you still have it available.

Has anyone updated to the new official UDP20XAU-60-0224 firmware and had any problems?
Yes and no problems.
The only problem with the beta for me was that the Oppo info displayed incorrect output when playing DV. That's been fixed in the official release.

Did you have one of those free $20 applied to your account that I've read about?
You might get one when you sign up.

that either the player or display can be used for DV post processing. which is very smart on part of oppo.
This was implemented for Sony TV owners. Apparently it also fixes DV faults for other TV's if they let the Oppo do it seeing there was a problem with grey bars and crushed blacks.

Would that beta version be U.S specific? Or would it work on Oz model? Would love to be able to play discs on the long weekend
You have to wait for Aus release as the US version doesn't work for our Oppo's.

Still waiting for the next firmware update, getting a bit impatient as I've got half a dozen discs that won't play. Anyone know when it might drop?
Not long. Beta released in US today https://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-udp-203/UDP203-firmware-60-0601B.aspx
Mainly for Sony TV owners with DV.

I got Apollo 13 and Inception for $32 although am curious as to why when the email came through itdoesn't say Apollo 13 4K UHD next to it when Inception does. The link in the email goes here though https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B076QCZST9/ref=pe_2361882_282382012_TE_item

Star Trek-Into Darkness 4K and Blade Runner 2049 4K ...both play without ANY issues here..again, running Beta firmware which has been 100% trouble free..
Why are you on the beta still seeing that's older than the latest firmware release?

I live near a JB Superstore yet they rarely have 4K's in for collect. Strangely other smaller JB's around always seem to have them. Weird.
-
Just a copy of the original so if you've seen it then you know the ending.

Just watching the 4k of this stupid movie “Billy Lynn’s long half time walk” and it’s out of the player at 10mins, what a crap film, crap cinematography and don’t get me started on the acting/directing.
And to to add insult to injury, 60fps. Yuck.
I liked that movie.

So this new tone mapping feature is only of any use if you want to convert HDR to SDR because your TV or Projector doesn't support HDR?
-
Sounds like you have a dud copy. I never even had a problem with BR2049 before the latest firmware.
-
Would colour space and depth have anything to do with it?
I have resolution on custom and set to UHD 24Hz
Colour Space is 4:4:4
Colour Depth is Auto and it outputs 12 bit

I sent another email to Interdyn saying their previous two fixes still hadn't solved the problem and they haven't even replied. They are hopeless.
