  1. I agree with you. In my sight there is no contradiction. Natural/organic is not veiling but showing (micro-)details in the right/correct way. Therefore might be more detailed ... I have this experience i.e. in the comparison of solid core to stranded cables, where I prefer the solid core sound. Copper is fine while for interconnects I prefer silver(/gold) at the moment with Australian Eichmann plugs. :)

  2. You are right no-one can mistake an original with the Douk. The Douk - 140x110x318 mm - the E.A.R. 125x105x230 mm.

    I added the Miflex KPAL-01, 1µF/600V condenser (KPAL510J).

(Maybe the copper version* sounds better, but it is triple the price.)

I looked for the other coupling caps on the Net. The used Philips 0.15/10/250 MKT344HQ seem to be fine in audio circuits.

Maybe I will try some tube exchange later on. I read in V3 an ECC82 can be used, too. I have some NOS Telefunken here.

Else I think the JJ are not bad. I added some tube dampers ...

*or Jupiter or Duelund or Audio Note or .....

  3. I changed only the last cap in the row and it makes the sound more balanced. In the standard configuration it sounds too bright and a bit aggressive in my ears.

But the caps have only some days and will open up some more (I hope).

I changed some tubes (Sylvania and Genalex/Gold Lion replica) but not with a real success. Now it is better for me.

The caps are new polish caps (Aluminium/Paper) like Jupiter or Duelund .... but much cheaper. I have chosen the less expensive aluminum instead of the copper version. (http://miflex.com.pl/en/products/kondensatory-audio-en-us/)

In the original E.A.R. case there will be not enough space for the caps but the Douk case is “much“ bigger.
