Item: NAD M51 DAC with Remote Location: QLD Brisbane Price: $800 Item Condition: Great Condition, some slight scratches & a scratch at the top back from previous owner, see photos. Reason for selling: No longer required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: This DAC has been apart of my system for 2 years & I have been extremely happy with it. It can also be used as a digital preamp running power amps directly to the NAD M51. The NAD M51 is a DAC and a digital preamp, equipped with HDMI, SPDIF, AES/EBU, Optical and Coaxial inputs and USB Audio Class 2. USB Audio Class 2 supports sample rates of 192kHz. The M51 offers two HDMI inputs and one output with video pass through. This opens up the possibility of using the M51 Direct Digital DAC as the heart of a “Video 2.0” system using the mandatory two-channel linear PCM soundtrack from Blu-ray or DVD to make a compelling two-channel high definition theatre presentation. Excellent well regarded DAC Reviewers said: (Stereophile) "I admit to having been a little suspicious at first of the PCM-to-PWM approach that NAD has taken in the M51. That was before I'd had a chance to live with it for a couple months. Nothing raised an eyebrow, and the claimed benefits in jitter rejection and filter design have obviously paid off. I prefer DACs that reveal as much as possible about what was captured on the tape or in the digits, and couldn't care less about adding a rose-colored tint to dodgy digital sound. In this regard, the NAD M51 succeeds with a wonderfully detailed and revealing sound best described as honest, with a friendly smile. And it was a pleasure to listen to. In other words, bitstream brilliance." In fact, we’d go further than that by saying it’s one of the best NAD separates we’ve heard in recent memory." (SoundStageHifi - https://www.soundstagehifi.com/index.php/equipment-reviews/498-nad-masters-m51-direct-digital-digital-to-analog-converter) "The DAC market is a crowded place. To make any headway, a new entrant -- even one from a thoroughly established brand like NAD -- needs to offer something special. Feature-wise, the Masters M51 matches its competition, and ups the ante with those two HDMI inputs and its pass-through facility, making it the only high-end DAC of which I’m aware that really fits in the two-channel home-theater space ... The M51’s sound, too, is something a bit different. Other DACs take a tighter hold on the music, tease out more detail, or create a better-defined soundstage. What the Masters M51 offers is a sound that’s smooth, laid-back, and always pleasant, no matter what you throw at it. Its slight favoring of the midrange imbues the sound with just a hint of extra warmth. For many listeners, such a combination is a recipe for audio bliss."

Hey Arcsabre, An owner of the Arcam AVR850 just sharing some thoughts. Separates are definitely the way to go. The Arcam AVR850 won’t compare against the AV860 with separate amplification. In saying that, a cheaper AV Processor like Marantz ... with separate amps would still have better amplification but that’s where it likely stops. From my experience, products like the Arcam 850 are easily superior in sound quality to the cheaper flagship’s ( AVR or AV ), wether it’s the DAC implementation, quality components etc. You seem more stereo orientated, so putting that extra money towards stereo is a far better idea. As for my AVR850, I do run monoblock amps for my front 3 speakers, & I have the Arcam take care of the other channels which it seems to handle without a sweat. Damon.
