  6. Hello all Need some help my head is going to explode. Upgrading the security in my garage further. Already has a alarm. Now l want to put a security camera in it, and with all thats offered l lost track of what l want. So The garage is detached, when l walk out l switch off the power, but l do have a 20amp socket that goes back to the main board an is live all the time. l have one dark ethernet cable available, wireless could be dodgy. l was thinking. Something that records offsite, has battery or solar and notifies me on my phone. Any sugestions? Confused Bruce

  10. Hello all Have a problem and l am unsure where to start or test. The Left channel is on my TDL Super compacts is low. Tried 4 different Sansui amps and it is definetly the speaker. Sounds perfect if you alter the amp balance. Any thoughts on where to start on testing the speaker? regards Bruce

  14. l prefer direct connections. From my amps to speakers is one cable with no plugs. Even when going through walls and floor a electricel base plate with a whole drilled the cable size. Tried bare wires and tinned l cant tell any difference, so tinned it is. Less connections less failure points. Interconnects l make myself, goes into a amp selector box, once again l cant hear any difference. Maybe l am lucky? regards Bruce
  15. My garage system. Networked PC running Foobar, Topping D30 Dac, Sansui AU505 with matching Tuner into 4 TDL super compacts in all four corners. The AU505 has been restored and modified. Do you like my room treatment? Mine is a working garage regards Bruce
  16. Off to the painters. All the paint needs to come off, was done in acrylic and is now being done in 2 pac. Will dull down the gloss to get a original gloss level. My painter has done 2 cars for me before and a number of touch ups, does exactly what you want. He will slap up jobs on our trucks in our yard or full resprays in a booth. Got a number of body joints that need refilling. regards Bruce
  17. Simple answer is there is a capacitor in the output stage instead of a directly coupled transisitor. Had a AU555A didnt like it as much as the AU505 but that could be personel choice. As for power the AU505 is more than capable of drivng my 4 TDL's in the garage to nose bleed levels. regards Bruce
  18. Not compared to the Capacitor coupled or valve amps. Dont get me wrong its a great sounding amp. regards Bruce
  19. l find the AU717 rather sterile but detailed and its not my go to amp, although l am listening to it now. My go to amp is a AU505 and AU70, think l might be buried with the AU505. Go a capacitor coupled Sansui for warmth. l like English speakers and use Kef based Bailys and TDL super compacts. regards Bruce
  20. l cant believe someone did that. Did the amp work? regards Bruce

  22. Progress. Should be fitting another bonnet on it today, was hoping for a new one but its a 3mth wait at the moment. if you look carefully there a 4 TDL Super compact monitors in each corner.
  23. Goodaye all After 30 years and 25 years of kids the wagon is getting a birthday. New paint and retrim, luckly most of the chrome is good. Mechanically its good, but need to upgrade the vacuum for the brakes. New cam is a little big and at low speeds brakes are not good. Have a cunning plan. Its going to remain the same color. Expect it to be 3 months at the painters.
  24. Its both. If you do less than 1k a year, things still degrade. Seals, corosion, fluids ect. If you do 10k within the 6 months needs service, you will find fluids are ok but wear on brakes and suspension parts need to be checked. You do fluids anyway. Most modern oils are designed to last 20Ks, but l dont take the chance. Me, l do every 6 months on my daily drivers. My Toys 12 months regardless. The Grp3 had a huge service before doing 3k km trip a couple of months ago, ALL fluids. New clutch, check of brakes and suspension a through going over. Still managed to pop the secondary side of the brake booster on a emergency stop. That was uncheckable but a new reco unit went back in. Its lucky if its done 20kkms in 20 years. My 57 hasnt gone anywhere since the start of covid, no not even a service. About to go in for new paint, interior trim and better brakes in the new year. The 40 Chev been out very little serviced every 12months. Of all things it doesnt like to sit and the petrol goes off even with Stabil in it, makes no sense with a 7.5:1 compression ratio. Brand new steering box sitting on the bench to go in during the break. But l am lucky l do all the work myself. Also should mention many places dont do proper services any way. regards Bruce
