  2. Item: Martin Logan Theos Premium Electrostatic Hybrid Speakers Location: SAVI Systems Showroom, 1168 Albany Hwy, Bentley, W.A. Price: $3999 $6999 Item Condition: Ex-Showroom Demo - Full Manufacturer's Warranty - Excellent Condition - No Boxes - BLACK ASH Colour Payment Method: Direct Deposit, Cash, PayPal, Pickup in store, Visa, Mastercard with no fees or penalties Extra Info: Martin Logan is proud to introduce the Theos speakers as the most affordable hand-built electrostatic speakers with real wood finishes and custom bi-wire capable binding posts in their range. Descended from Martin Logan's critically acclaimed flagship CLX™ loudspeaker, the Theos features advanced XStat™ electrostatic technology and a proprietary Vojtko™ crossover topology delivering the highest sonic standards of efficiency and precision and a great big room filling midrange. A passive 8-inch high excursion woofer and ultra low turbulence down-firing bass port generate unyielding, detailed bass down to 43Hz. Custom coupling spikes and tool-less bi-wire binding posts provide the final touch—providing the ultimate level of flexibility for connection and setup. XStat™ Transducer Sharing with its PoweredForce™ counterpart Ethos, a unique XStat™ transducer was developed to exclusively address specific mechanical requirements. Vertically identical in size and dispersion to the flagship Summit™ X, Theos' thinner 9.2-inch (23cm) horizontal panel dimension required a tighter curve to achieve MartinLogan's distinct 30-degree dispersion pattern. To accomplish this MartinLogan engineers reduced the gauge thickness of the steel stators. The reduced gauge does not alter performance characteristics of Theos' electrostatic panel. However, as a natural byproduct of tighter build tolerances, visual transparency of the panel is increased significantly. Theos' new XStat panel is so visually transparent that it nearly vanishes when you're sitting and listening. Whilst there is no box for these - the lucky buyer will still get full Australian Distributor's Warranty on these ex-showroom demo Martin Logans. Pictures:

  6. Item: LINN Sneaky DSM Music Streamer (6 inputs and LINN Amplifier inbuilt) - ex display Location: SAVI Systems, 1168 Albany Hwy, Bentley, W.A. Price: $3180 $4495 Item Condition: ex display - perfect condition Payment Method: Direct Deposit, Paypal, Cash - Pickup in store, Visa, Mastercard with no fees or penalties Extra Info: The Linn Sneaky DSM combines a Linn DS streamer with physical inputs for most types of external sources (as long as they connect with HDMI, Optical Digital, Coax Digital or analogue RCA) . This means that most devices such as your smart TV, games console etc to your turntable and delivers accurate sound from its built-in power amp. With Space Optimisation included, value is off the scale. The Sneaky DSM is kind of a dual purpose device: it acts as a mini, two channel amplifier with video switching capabilities, so you can use it with a Blu-ray player or digital TV receiver (or both; there are three HDMI inputs). HDMI is the only video that is handled, and this is just passed straight through with no processing, aside from the audio being extracted for amplification of course. In addition to HDMI audio, though, you can plug in a single analogue device or provide digital audio in the form of either optical or coaxial. But it’s the other function, the network part, that this unit is primarily about. Essentially you can stream music to it from various devices – it is both AirPlay and DLNA compatible – and also use it to grab internet radio stations. Aside from the hard-wired power switch on the left side, there are no controls on the unit proper, indeed not any display either. There’s just a single LED that has three states: bright, dull or flashing (the latter only while the system is booting up when switched on). Instead you control it using a computer or portable device that feeds music to it, in conjunction with the supplied remote control. Your network connection must be wired. Despite the not inconsiderable cost of this unit, it does not support WiFi. The unit is stereo only, too, and has two speaker outputs. It is rated at 33W per channel. If you find that too limiting it also offers a pair of analogue line outputs, which are volume controlled by the unit, so you can use whatever power amplifiers or active speakers you prefer. Streams any digital source over a standard network Supports virtually any digital format up to 24-bit 192 kHz Integrates seamlessly with Tidal & Qobuz lossless streaming 6 digital & analogue inputs to connect your other sources Integrated 33 W per channel power amp Neutrik speaker connections Space Optimisation built-in Pictures:

  10. Item: KEF Blade Speakers - Ex Showroom Demo - Location: SAVI Systems Showroom, 1168 Albany Hwy, Bentley, W.A. Price: $31 199 $48 899 Item Condition: Ex-Showroom Demo - No Boxes - Full Manufacturer's Warranty - Excellent Condition Payment Method: Direct Deposit, Pickup in store, Visa, Mastercard with no fees or penalties Extra Info: These are pick up in-store only - Postage is not Available to the physical size/weight and dollar value. We no longer have the boxes, however, the original owner's manual and frequency response graph for this pair are included. KEF’s Blade celebrates 50 years of loudspeaker innovation with the most dramatic leap forward in decades - The Kef Blades. These are a statement product, and are destined to go down in the Audio Hall of Fame as one of the most iconic looking - and superlative performing Hi-Fi speakers of recent times - and here is you opportunity to get an EX-DEMO pair in perfect condition for a massive discount off the normal price. Sonic Statement The Blade is very much a visual, as well as a sonic statement, and as such won’t appeal to everyone. But the bottom line is that this loudspeaker is a truly impressive technological achievement, stuffed with clever ideas that come together to deliver exceptional performance throughout the whole audio band. While the stereo imaging is its most outstanding and obvious characteristic, it’s also always very informative and entertaining across the whole gamut of musical styles and genres, and works well with speech and movie soundtracks, too. Despite its considerable surface area, there’s no evidence of any enclosure coloration here, either as a result of vibrations generated within the structure itself, or as an acoustic consequence of the shape of the front baffle. That is reflected in both an impressive freedom from any boxiness – or indeed any tendency for the image to cluster around the speakers – and in an exceptionally wide dynamic range, due to a freedom from low-level ‘hash’ The latter, in particular, gives exceptional results with classical material and choral performances, where the accurate rendition of low-level ambience plays a crucial part in creating an effective illusion. Stunning Stereo Certainly the first thing one notices on connecting up and playing the Blade is its stunning stereo imaging– tightly focused and precisely layered, with convincing depth perspectives and accurate lateral locations. It did at first seem a little strange, or at least unusual, to find all the sound emanating from a point source a metre off the ground, But if this is what a ‘single apparent source’ is able to do, then we ought to have a whole lot more of it. Although the best image is inevitably available for those occupying a ‘hot seat’ equidistant from the two speakers, the Blade still gives a remarkably good image around and between the speakers. Furthermore, walk around the room and the character of the sound remains very consistent and stable, which is actually quite remarkable when compared to nearly all the competition. The tonal balance is beautifully smooth, open, evenhanded and neutral as long as your room is big enough to handle them. The photos attached are taken in our show room and are of the actual pair for sale. Please contact me with any questions. Pictures:
  11. The Onkyo is not going to gel so great with the LS50's in my opinion. There have been multiple suggestions on this thread that perform better in the real world with those speakers : - Arcam, Cambridge, Exposure, NAD, Rotel....
  12. The Duntech Speaker Thread

I have a set of the Marquis they are C4000 as the model. I am told that means they are from the late 90's rather than the model from the late 80's, but I'm not really sure. Sent from my SGP611 using Tapatalk
  13. CARTRIDGES: Warm and Lush...

I am glad it worked out... however, i am not surprised that the Graham Slee slays the Yamaha... as I said earlier amongst my ramblings... "Also, what phono pre are you using? Changing the phono pre can make a Huuuge difference, and if your'e using the one built into the Yamaha it is definitely worth trying an external one as I am sure you will find an improvement - Graham Slee, Parasound and Rega all have options within your budget as do Schiit." enjoy the music!
  14. CARTRIDGES: Warm and Lush...

Hi @weavzy I have several cartridges in my collection - as well as recently having gone to an Ortofon demo night last month at one of the Hi-Fi stores here in Perth. We all got to hear the Ortofon 2m bronze/blue/black/red and Quintet range on the night too. The 2M Bronze definitely didn't sound thin, however, it was a touch sharp up top, especially as we all agreed that the 2M Blue sounded the smoothest and most lovely on the mids (out of the 2M series) - at the expense of a tiny bit of bass punch/depth and soundstage size and a slightly rolled off top end. The Quintet Black MC was really very nice and balanced and was possibly the highlight of the night for me personally - it had a massive soundstage, a beautiful extended smooth airy treble and was really a very even handed sound - plenty of bass control and extension too .... the cheaper MC carts on the night seemed a little bass shy compared to nearly all the 2M series MMs. The 2M Black did sound a touch punchier through the drums and snares (compared to the Quintet Black) - more dynamic... more 'live' if you will....but a bit uneven and almost slightly sharp at the upper mids/treble compared to the Quintet black (we all commented that the 2M black sounded live and punchy through the drums and a little ragged across the whole spectrum compared to the Quintet Black that sounded bigger sound stage, more 3D and kind of sounded 'live in the studio off the master tape'. If you can find a second hand Shure V15mk3 or Mk4 they are classic cartridges that track like champions and are definitely smooth, warm (but not muddy or dull) and quite detailed and accurate... later on you can buy a Jico SAS and move the quality/detail up a notch (or buy one 2nd hand with a Jico SAS fitted already). If a Shure V15mk3 sounds thin in your system it is definitely something else causing it. Also, what phono pre are you using? Changing the phono pre can make a Huuuge difference, and if your'e using the one built into the Yamaha it is definitely worth trying an external one as I am sure you will find an improvement - Graham Slee, Parasound and Rega all have options within your budget as do Schiit. Have you also checked the tracking weight that you are you using with digital stylus scales? If yo track at 1.5g, I would suggest trying around 1.7g (this is within Ortofon Spec) as perhaps that is all you will need to do to get the top end tamed a tiny bit and the bottom end to fill out. Best of Luck
  15. There have been several good suggestions throughout this topic. I will add my 2 bits worth into it too The Arcam A29 amplifier is a great match with the KEF LS50 - it's class G power giving it huge dynamic range and nearly doubling of power from 8 --> 4 ohms. The Arcam amps give a huge soundstage and are slightly warm/smooth up top with a generous bottom end. Nearly every review makes mention of clas sleading dynamics and soundstage - the KEF LS50's are the same. Keep in mind that the KEF LS50's are approx. 6 ohms (dip to 4 ohms) and are capable of astonishing, world class dynamics (but can sound a bit weedy with an amp that isn't crash hot into low impedance speaker loads). You could then couple the amp with either the matching Arcam irDacII (USB, Bluetooth, coax and Optical) or the new R-Play streamer depending on your listening sources - both of these are well made, reliable and well reviewed pieces of equipment. The ARCAM A29 also has a decent headphone stage and a more than decent phono stage for turntable listening. Do check the amplifier's capabilities into a 4 ohm load, as with the KEF LS50's that can make the difference between solid sound and weedy and thin. (impedance info and graph) : http://www.stereophile.com/content/kef-ls50-anniversary-model-loudspeaker-measurements Best of luck in your search - and try and demo first if possible - make sure YOUR ears hear what YOU are looking for.
