  1. Further information: For sale is my Marantz PM-5. I have since gone down the valve route and need to move this amp on. I purchased this second hand from a Sydney retailer approx. 3 years and I have loved it. Love the VU meters that dances along to the music (all working 100%) and the sound is huge and powerful. It switches from Class A (20 wattts) to Class AB (80 watts) via a button on the front although I have mainly ran it in Class A. Has lots of inputs including 2 phono (one with MC), preamp out and individual left and right tone controls. It also has a stunning headphone amp which make my HD-650s sing. Please note that Class A mode is working perfectly, but after having a technician have a look at it before sale, he has noted that in Class A/B mode, the amp becomes unstable. This has not impacted me as I always used the amp in Class A but it needs to be noted. It can be fixed by a technician but I have a new pair of speakers coming and do not want to spend further on this amp. Thanks for looking. 3. Further information: For sale is my beloved Marantz PM-5. I have since gone down the valve route and need to move this amp on. The good: I purchased this second hand from a Sydney retailer approx. The bad: There is some history of this amp that needs to be noted: - After about 6 months of owning it, it started to develop some very occasional drop outs in the left channel. I eventually took it to a reputable Sydney retailer with a service centre within the store for a complete refurbishment of the amp (given its age) - After spending $700 on the refurbishment (I love this amp), I took it home and set it up and pressed the Class A button. The amp blew up and smoke came out - The amp was returned to the same service centre who fixed it again but in the shop when pressing the Class A button again the same thing happened again with the smoke. An agreement was come to and and credit was given and I sadly took home a dead amp - After about 6 months I found someone else to look at it, a retired electrical engineer who. He spent a lot of time on the amp and fixed the self destruct button issue. Apparently he measured that some resistors were incorrectly changed in the refurbishment which was causing the amp to blow up when switched to Class A. - After that, the amp has been running perfectly (I thought) for the last 18 months but after taking it to The Factory in Canberra for a once over before selling it, it was noted while Class A is working perfectly, when switched to Class AB the amp becomes unstable As above, the amp runs perfectly in Class A but should not be run in Class AB until the stability issue is fixed. This Class AB instability may have been introduced in either the refurbishment or the previous fix. With the above issues the amp is being sold as is. 4. Hi, yes these adapter sockets allow for the tube to be used in 12AX7 circuits. Thanks
  5. Further information: Purchased from SNA seller MGO last week and tubes arrived this week. I had intended to use them in my EAR 834p phono stage and made a n00b mistake of not checking the measurements of the adapter (see pic, they are about 2mm too high to fit with the adapter). From the previous add: (see here) "For sale are these great sounding Western Electric 420a /JW 5755 NOS tubes which when coupled with an adaptor (included) function as a superior 12AX7 or a 12AT7. They are much better in many ways than other 12AX7s I have tried, including: Mullard, Telefunken, Amperex and any Chinese tubes (Psvane etc). The most obvious improvements came in bass drive and resolution. Greater timbral information and texture is evident throughout the mids and bass. Glorious textural information not experienced with any of the tubes mentioned above. Dynamics are scary. Clarity is excellent. " I have not heard any of the valves mentioned above but I can say that they sound absolutely stunning and a HUGE improvement over the stock JJ 12AX7s I had in previously and would agree with the above statement - was like a veil had been removed and I could hear everything in beautiful clarity. Price is the cost that I paid for them (minus shipping). Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  6. Hi All, A new Weston Acoustics owner (Topaz K120). To those who own one, curious what speakers are recommended, also if there is usually a burn in time for these amps? Thanks
  7. Further information: Very regretful sale but up for sale is a pair of Rega Exon Monoblocks. I bought these second hand from Len Wallis last year while my main amp was being repaired and was floored by how great they sounded. Had never heard my B&W CM6 S2 speakers sing like they do with the Exons. Very rich with some warmth and fantastic dynamics with a powerful sounding 125 watts into 8Ω. Only selling because I have a new amp on the way. Condition note: Please see close up photo. There is small crack on the front of one of the monoblocks. This was present when I purchased the ams and never bothered me as it is not visible from my listening position. The rest of the amps present in excellent condition. Local pickup or will post. Thanks for looking. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

Reason for selling: Need funds Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Bank Transfer Extra Info: Very regretful sale but up for sale is a pair of Rega Exon Monoblocks. Only selling because I have a Weston Acoustics amp on the way and need to make some space. Condition note: Please see close up photo. There is small crack on the front of one of the monoblocks. 10. Hi, I have recently purchased a pair of Sony MDR-Z7 M2 headphones which comes with two cables. One cable as 2x 3.5mm plugs on one end and 1 3.5 mm on the other but is 3m long and the other is balanced with the 4.4mm plug and approx. 1.2m and I cannot use this with my Audioquest Dragonfly red. The single ended 3m cable is too bulky for portable use (where it is mainly used) so I looked into getting a 4.4mm -> 3.5mm adapter (see https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/products/fiio-ll-44-3-5mm-male-to-4-4mm-female-balanced-cable). Using this adapter has given the sound a more brittle, harsher sound which I am not enjoying. Any suggestions? Can anyone recommend an after market cable that is 2x 3.5mm -> 3.5mm ? Thanks
  11. Item: Bowers & Wilkins P7 Headphones Location: Sydney Price: $200 ONO Item Condition: Excellent, only 4 months old Reason for selling: Too many headphones Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Bank Transfer Extra Info: After owning a pair of Bowers & Wilkins P5 headphones a few years back (and unfortunately leaving them on a plane), I had been after a pair of P7s and finally found a wired pair. Very stylish and fantastic, warm and engaging sound with great isolation. Comes with box, cable, documentation and case in excellent condition. 12. PS, how do you like the extra usb filter? What do you notice when using it?
  13. Unfortunately bought from JB HiFi and no backup receipt. I ended up getting one from Catch.com.au for $22. Seems to be working fine - will see how this one goes. Thanks!
