  1. Thanks for responses. Apologies for not getting back but I was off line for a couple of days. This heavy noise is present for all records, whether old or new and occurs as soon as the needle touches the vinyl. The turntable does not have an earth wire. I had used it previously with an earlier amplifier and did not have this problem. have attached a photo of the turntable.
  2. I have a GRTT2/AMP turntable and a Digitech integrated amplifier (AA-0470). The amplifier is brand new. I'm running a CD player through the amp as well as the turntable. Unfortunately, when i lower the needle of the turntable onto the record i get a very loud, heavy static noise. No similar problem with the CD player. Any suggestions about what I can do to stop the static?
