  2. Let us know how the vinyl sounds, really enjoyed streaming that. Limited colour vinyl is always a mixed bag, it’s an album worth a good pressing that’s for sure.
  3. I think so too! I was lucky to find this well below market value.
  4. Item: Accuphase P-300 Location: Ballarat (Can deliver to inner-suburbs of Melbourne) Price: 900 Item Condition: Excellent, see photos Reason for selling: Moving to tubes Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: For sale is this beautiful, and relatively rare Accuphase P-300 (240V) power amplifier. I've been torn whether to sell this amplifier for a while, but since moving to tubes (and buying different speakers), it sadly isn't being used. Lots of rave reviews can be found online, amazing non-fatiguing sound similar to that of tubes, but much more powerful. While rated at 150WPC, they commonly test closer to 193WPC. Typical Japanese over-engineering and amazing build quality. Note: The amplifier is in completely original electrical condition, nothing has been touched. Cosmetically: - Overall the amplifier is in excellent condition, but does have a few nicks, marks and signs of age. - I've included photos of any marks, so refer to photos for condition. Mechanically: - Internally the amplifier untouched, all original ELNA film capacitors, electrolytics, and original resistors. - Performs flawlessly, I've hooked it back up today and it's sounding fantastic. I've seen other examples sell for between $1250 - $2000. Rarely come up in Australia. A modern equivalent in terms of sound quality, would cost considerably more. Freight possible via E-GO, will most likely be between $50-75 around Australia. Will be expertly packed. Specifications Power output: 150 watts per channel into 8Ω (stereo) Frequency response: 20Hz to 20kHz Total harmonic distortion: 0.1% Damping factor: 60 Input sensitivity: 1V Signal to noise ratio: 100dB Speaker load impedance: 4Ω to 16Ω Semiconductors: 73 x transistors, 1 x IC, 2 x thermistors Dimensions: 445 x 152 x 355mm Weight: 25kg Pictures:
  5. I believe Brins is showing a worst-case scenario (ie: not his).
  6. Still waiting for them to leave Japan, but shouldn't be long. Importing seems to be risk-verse-reward gamble. Great price wise, but tough with the ambiguity in many listings. Japan is also an unforgiving environment, @Brins is informative regarding the risks associated with that. Dust and potential corrosion on those driver domes (such as his previous posts), long term storage there may not be a good thing. I'd recommend doing your research, understanding associated risks.
  7. Thanks to all those expressing interest, to avoid any further confusion I'll be closing this thread. Easier to be discussed directly.
  8. Hi there, these are pending sale to a fellow locally. But you are next in line, will message you if it falls through.
  9. Item: Zenith 49CZ852 12" Alnico Full Range Drivers Location: Ballarat (Can deliver to inner Melbourne suburbs) Price: $200 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: For sale are these excellent vintage 12" alnico drivers, sourced from Zenith's high-end stereos in the 1950's. You can read more about them here: http://www.glowinthedarkaudio.com/zenith-49cz852.html They are in fantastic condition, selling due to a change in speaker direction. Paired with a low-powered tube amp, you've got a beautiful budget system. Pictures:
  10. Thanks for the heads up, I'll look into those solid tantalums. Thanks Ian, I'll go through the schematic tonight, I have it on hand.
  11. Hi all, Wondering if someone could expand on replacing tantalums with electrolytic capacitors within a circuit? From my understanding, tantalums have good qualities such as low ESR and low leakage, but might not sound as good as similar rated electrolytics. Attached below are pictures of my Luxman CL-32 pre-amp, previously serviced with some pretty cheap parts (plan to replace all of them). But also, at some stage the 47uf 16V tantalums in the phono eq stage were replaced with electrolyic caps. Is this a wise decision? Should I replace them all with a quality electrolytic with low ESR and low leakage qualities? Thanks guys. - Chris
  12. Could you elaborate more on your experience with a spliced surround installation? IE: Cost, repairer used and final results? I can PM you directly if preferred.
  13. Yep, purchased from Yahoo Japan and currently working with an importing company versed in shipping speakers. I should have them here mid-January, I'll update you then what the total cost is plus the overall outcome of buying from auction.
