  1. I really do like that 'colour enhanced' cover. I bought the 2017 reissue of this last year (not remastered) and it was also pressed by GZ....definitely ok but not outstanding.
  2. It'll come down to price but it'll be either the Oz pressing (atm a little too expensive on Discogs for NM ones, found one on ebay graded Ex for an ok price) or a Dutch 1st pressing, which my first purchase of this was and besides the 'refundable' crackles and other physical damage, sounded wonderfully dynamic. I have a couple of those in my Discogs watchlist at a similar price to the ebay one. TBH, it's a toss up!
  3. First time I've heard this one.....my god they were on fire!
  4. After two recent attempts to get this LP and two subsequent refunds (so the search goes on).....how does this local pressing sound? I'm guessing excellent?
  5. Just now via Discogs, Stan Ridgway "Mosquitos" NM Oz pressing, Stan's second solo album. I have the Oz pressing of his brilliant first album, 'The Big Heat' and it is stunning......this should be just as good....and it's mastered by Bob Ludwig.
  6. Earlier this evening via Discogs....time for some more Art Of Noise. Art Of Noise "Below The Waste" NM Oz 1st pressing.....at a seriously good price.
  7. My Nirvana 'best of' album has lots of grunge on it.....no need to clean though.
  8. Last night I watched "The Gambler" on bluray. A very enjoyable film. I have to say Wahlberg was very good in this.
  9. Last night, post movie: David Bowie "Scary Monsters" Oz 1st pressing, side one glossy black, side two hazed.....post glue clean. Side one lovely but the glue clean didn't save side two unfortunately. Quite crackly and an annoying scratch. I'll search for a replacement. A relisten of this new Czech (GZ) pressing of INXS "Underneath The Colours" after a glue clean. It didn't save it.....pops and crackles and scratches, can't believe this is a new album. This is one reason why I cringe when I see an album I want is pressed by GZ.....they just seem so inconsistent to me. I have great GZ pressings and have had some shockers. Was this a 'Friday' pressing or something? It's so annoying. Refund will be sought which I'm loath to do because it's not the sellers fault. INXS self titled debut, Oz 1st pressing. Love this album. I've had this for 44 years and played it often and it sounds in better condition than the above 'new' album (and had better SQ)!
  10. Was looking in my CD collection for something else and found this.....forgot I owned it. Spinning now on the Bose Wave III.....it's great!
  11. Last night I watched "Beneath Hill 60" on bluray. Post Anzac Day, I really enjoyed this, a fine movie. Subwoofer warning.....there is an explosion near the end of the film which was likely felt by my distant neighbours! Impressive.
  12. Last night, post Oz WW1 movie.....some belated Anzac music: Little River Band self titled debut, 1984 Oz reissue, Maxicut (Axis/EMI). Beautiful debut album. Divinyls "Temperamental" UK 1st pressing. Loving this. Mi-Sex "Shanghaied" Oz 1st pressing, Maxicut. Also loving this.
  13. Yes, I do respect Aussie pressings in general but just couldn't find any at a decent price....and being the impatient type, I went with the US pressing. I didn't realise the Oz one was cut by Taurins though, maybe I should've waited a bit longer for a good local pressing. Oh well, fingers crossed the US pressing is ok.
  14. Just found this on Discogs at an impossible to ignore price, the Atomhenge box set of Hawkwind's "Warriors On The Edge Of Time", comprising LP Gatefold Album, CD Album, CD Remastered New Stereo Mixes by Steven Wilson, DVD Multichannel 5.1 Surround Mixes + New Stereo Mixes and Flat Transfer.....all NM. I have wanted this album on vinyl for ages, had two Oz 1st pressings on my Discogs watchlist at around $70 each but just found this complete set at $5 more. Snap!
  15. Just now on Discogs, Goanna "Spirit Of Place" NM US 1st pressing from an Oz seller.....after my Euro release Canadian pressing (odd combo) arrived yesterday with a crack in it (see below) and a big impact mark on the mailer. Refund on it's way.
  16. Last night I watched "Essential Killing" on bluray. While I found it fascinating and beautifully filmed, I wouldn't say it was as amazing as the comments on the cover declare......and do we really want to be rooting for the Taliban guy?
  17. Last night, post movie: New arrival, INXS "Underneath The Colours" new 2014 remastered reissue, Czech pressing.....sounded quite good, maybe not as dynamic as the Dutch first pressing I'm seeking a refund for due to physical damage (why the remaster?).....this one getting glue cleaned now. Recent arrival, Camel "Mirage" Japanese 1st pressing.....post glue clean.....almost perfect now. Sounded fantastic. Another recent arrival, Genesis "A Trick Of The Tail" new 2015 remastered reissue, German pressing (Optimal)....also post glue clean. This sounds sublime.....just wonderful. An oldie, Schnell Fenster "OK Alright A Huh Oh Yeah" Oz release, German 1st pressing. Such a dynamic and fun album.
  18. I recently bought 'Underneath The Colours' and I love it because it reminds me of this debut album!
  19. Checked a youtube vid on which is the best APP "I Robot" pressing because I had a NM Japanese pressing and a NM 1982 MFSL copy in my Discogs watchlist, both around the same price and wanted to know which one to buy. I have an Oz pressing which is really good but I want better. Bought neither.....dude said they were both good but lacked mid range (gutted of mid's, as he put it). The three best to him were the original UK pressing, the 2007 Classic Records 'Quiex SV-P' 200g Bernie Grundman remaster/lacquer cut and the 2016 45rpm MSFL Gain 2 remaster. Well, the latter two were at least $175 and well beyond that....so I went with a NM UK 1st pressing @ around $40. I'll see how it stacks up against the Oz pressing which uses the same Chris Blair mastering but has it's lacquer cut by Blair as well. Supposed to be super dynamic. Alan Parsons Project "I Robot" NM UK 1st pressing. Already in the watchlist from same seller (so postage discount for the second LP), America "History - Greatest Hits" NM German reissue (because it was really cheap).
  20. Listened to the modern iteration of these at the 2018 Hi Fi Show.....for their size, they were one of the highlights of the show for mine.
  21. Last night, post movie: New arrival, Genesis "A Trick Of The Tail", brand new 2015 remastered reissue, 180 g, Half Speed mastering, German pressing (Optimal). Sounded divine.....my first post Gabriel Genesis album....and I must say it's a cracker! Another new arrival, Joan Armatrading "Hearts And Flowers" NM Oz 1st pressing, post glue clean.....superb copy and SQ.....and a great album. Ms Armatrading just kept coming up with quality. Rush "Moving Pictures" US release (but possibly a GZ pressing) reissue, 'Audiophile' Direct Metal mastering.....post glue clean.....came up really excellent, SQ was superb. Simple Minds "Live In The City Of Light" Oz 1st pressing, 2 x LP.....wonderful live album.
