Hi @sthpaul apologies for the delay - missed this while away. It looks to be great value but after some thought I think I'd like to stick with an established brand. It's my first time integrating one with these speakers so think it's easier to go with something tried and tested. Thanks very much for the offer though. -

Item: 12" Subwoofer Price Range: Depends on brand and if it's single or pair. Item Condition: New or Used Extra Info: Was looking at something like Rythmik, Rel, SVS. Possibly a pair depending on price/availability. -
This is just a stab in the dark, and other members might have better solutions to trial first - but have tried a different cartridge? I recently had a weird issue where it was the cart itself causing the issue (despite being properly connected).

WTL: 4x Gold Lion KT88s Would like to experiment with these. If they prove better than the Tung Sol KT120s in my system I'd be open to a swap if interested. I'm located in Melbourne.

First of all apologies for the late reply and thanks everyone for the detailed responses . And all for the healthy debate on some of the models, all makes for a good read! 😂 Some nice speakers suggested which I've passed on. The friend is located in Prahran, Melbourne just for clarification. We'd be happy to ship something though. On picking his brain a bit more, he's a big fan of vintage speakers (or at least ones that look that way - it's for a vinyl setup he has been building). Which is why I'd initially thought an old JBL monitor or similar. Have to be patient with those poppin

Ah ok thanks. I'll use the standard counterweight then. I just always read people commenting they sound better with more weight.

What do you think of the state of this stylus?

Thanks everyone for the replies. I had been using the ME trick, although in this case some debris had built up on the cantilever itself too. Anyway, the cartridge is pretty long in the tooth, so I've decided to err on the side of caution and not use it. Will just order a replacement for it when funds allow. -
So I've recently purchased a Denon DL-103 which I'm using with my Jelco SA750D. I understand they perform best on an arm with a bit of mass. I'm using the heavier counterweight that comes with the Jelco (which seems to be recommended). The issue is that with it, there's no longer enough mass to balance the headshell. To get around this I've added some bluetack and a dollar coin. (and of course re-adjusted the tracking force to 2.5g). My question is though, I'm not sure exactly how much weight is the optimum amount to add to the headshell for best performance and avoid
