  1. Thanks for the lead, and yes i love tubes. Without sidetracking this thread, here is Earles Artisan 300b. Would a tube phono pre work with a tube amp or would this lead to a sound too warm ?
  2. Yeah I have auditioned at a couple of hifi places, but not in my own system which makes it pointless. Different TT and cartridges to mine so makes it difficult to judge.
  3. So what is the sweet spot dollarwise for phono pre's ? At what point does the law of diminishing returns kick where form overtakes function ? I'm shopping for a phono pre right now, and I'd be damned knowing what to go for. Great reviews for some DIY kits costing $50 bucks, but considering others all the way to $10k bling that have great reviews. So confusing. PS. Should note I have been thinking about this very same question about DACs. Why so expensive for computer chips, which are so cheap nowadays.
  4. Already have adjustable 3d printed feet for my granite TT Base Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk
  5. what is the dimension of his platter ?
  6. wow, those parts look so basic. I might draw them up in tinkercad and start printing them out on my 3d printer. I reckon i could print the lot for about $1.50
  7. Did you audition or consider something higher up the clearaudio range like the innovation with a universal tonearm ?
  8. the acrylic platter for the project carbon is considerably lighter than the stock metal platter. the michell clamp at best might weight 200g, i will weigh it when i get home
  9. Yep, its opened up nicely now, so much so i am enjoying the table enough that I am not so fussed about my upgrade.
  10. Yep there is, when i was looking into it, afew told me the same thing about not using heavy pucks with the debut carbon. But i stumbled across quiet afew using the michelle clamps without issue so i followed that route.
  11. Here is my old thread on the 2M Bronze Upgrade http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php/topic/93392-my-first-cartridge-install-have-i-done-it-correctly/?hl=freaky#entry1499137
  12. should also point out the JA Michelle is a lighweight clamp, not like one of those extremely heavy pucks.
  13. yeah, im content with the sound now The biggest difference came with the 2m bronze, so happy with it. if you do a search i posted a thread of the upgrade including pics
  14. been using mine for a year now without issue
  15. Yep the project acryl-it, no other adjustmentsSent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk
  16. No issues with carts, run a 2M BronzeSent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk
  17. I have a project debut carbon, and upgraded to the acrylic platter, as I wanted to do away with the stock platter and that awful felt mat that just seemed to create allot of static. The immediate change I noticed was more bass, and it was quiet pronounced. I was shocked swapping platters back and forth afew times and noticing the difference. Also use a JA Michell record clamp, haven't noticed any sonic improvement but helps keep the vinyl flat with certain types of warps.
  18. i don't care about minor cosmetic damage anymore. Its all about the music.
  19. would potentially be interested in the vpi
  20. Sent from my SM-G925I using TapatalkI'm so happy with the bronze, picked it up from Germany for $380 delivered in 3 days. Makes the DC shine.
  21. I replaced the om10 on my debut carbon to a 2m bronze, and the improvement was dramatic. I wouldn't hesitate, many others have gone the bronze route on a DC. Sent from my SM-G925I using Tapatalk
