Might have something to do with the mixed feedback. A lot say using a preamp is better. Likely depends on the amp that’s been driven too -

Welcome to the Lampizator Owners Thread. The place to discuss all things Lampizator! To get things started I’m wanting to hear from folks who are using a Lampizator dac with volume control and no external preamp. Of course I can find many opinions on various forums however would like to hear from some locals. Shout out if you have experience or tried it and didnt like it Currently I’m using an older Big 4 dac that still holds it own nearly 10 years later

Nice system there. ANy plans to add one of the Waversa filters? Imagine would be bloody good with their switch as its certainly good with my switch -
Subjective experiences with all things Ethernet
Gryffles replied to Snoopy8's topic in Ethernet & Networking for Audio
My foray into upgrading my ethernet system started recently as I ditched my analog front end to concentrate on digital.......big jump for me! For perspective I am using an Antipodes K22 and a Lampizator Big 4. Below is what the chain looks like at the moment: NBN Box > Supra Cat8 cable > standard Netcomm modem/router > no name ethernet cable > sotm iso cat6 filter > atlas mavros grun cable > edis creation silent switch ocxo > atlas mavros grun cable > waversa ext1 filter > cable that came with ext1 > antipodes k22 Phew I think thats everything. To me it sounds so much better than without although I have no idea if I need the sotm iso cat6 in the chain. The Atlas Mavros Grun ethernet cables only have a few hours on them so just chilling for now. The Waversa Ext1 is rather perplexing without the Edis Creation ocxo switch. It comes to life when a switch is added fyi. I have a Sotm DCBL Cat 7 cable that I am not using since the Atlas cables arrived. Atlas have more meat on the bones than Sotm but Sotm has lovely tone. When I was burning in my Atlas Mavros spdif cable the change was very noticeable so hoping the same is true for the ethernet cable. All the bits have added something and are important so I cannot rank improvements or anything like that and once something sounds good to me I'm not a constant tinkerer or likely to spend hours swapping and comparing. To me buying items for my ethernet network for audio is no different than buying any oither bit if gear for my system. Once I has heard what a simple cable change could do that was all I needed! Its all about the music and how it sounds Edit: i did try a Supra cat 8 cable to replace the no name cable between modem/router and sotm iso cat6 and didnt like it. Ive ordered a Melco ethernet cable so will see if that suits. -

Well, well, well. It’s a music server and streamer -
Thanks Gents Indeed,, I’ve read the feedback posted on Terry’s thread. Figured there must’ve been another punter lurking around here with an ext-2
-
Has anyone compared a Waversa ext-1 to the new ext-2? Supposed to be a decent leap in SQ but keen to hear from actual experience.

Further Information: I made this 1m cable using Cardas quad eutectic solder and Klei silver rca plugs. Beautifully open and airy top end

Further Information: Retailed for $3000 and is a wonderfully honest cable that doesn’t have much of a personality……that’s a good thing. I always used it between my preamp and power amp. You won’t be disappointed I’m using a loom of matching Stereovox cables now so have decided to sell to raise funds for other audio expenditure

EXPIRED Psvane Classic 300b Matched Pair
Gryffles posted a topic in Hi-Fi and Cinema Cables & Accessories
Further Information: Low hours and only used in a preamp so not worked hard. I no longer require these as use different valves in my preamp -
Further Information: Known for making high performing cables at no nonsence prices. This true 75 ohm 1m digital cable sounds great and won't be the bottleneck in even high end set ups. The only reason I am selling is I upgraded at significant cost. The cable can be used with BNC connections as well as RCA with the adaptable high quality Stereovox cable terminations. Don’t be fooled by the price, this a great cable. Made by the late Chris Sommovigo of Black Cat fame

Ethernet System for Audio: putting it all together
Gryffles replied to dbastin's topic in Ethernet & Networking for Audio
The Atlas Mavros Grun cables have really made a positive difference in my system. Very important to have the Grun (ground) connectors hooked up as they let the cables shine. You wouldn’t pick it unless you tried the Grun connectors but it all sounds a tad greyer without them. I thought I’d get rid of the no name 3m ethernet cable that connects my modem/router to the Sotm iso cat6 filter. With the cable budget near exhausted I purchased a Supra cat 8. Well it sounds ‘beautiful’ but some other things have been traded and it’s all a bit warm and the bass is big and loose. Back to the drawing board so have ordered a Melco C1AE cable to try. -
Ethernet System for Audio: putting it all together
Gryffles replied to dbastin's topic in Ethernet & Networking for Audio
So are you actually planning on putting together an Ethernet network for audio Andy? That’s what this thread is about. Sharing experience with our Ethernet systems -
I have some Siemens 7DJ8. Pm if you’re interested
-
Further Information: Purchsed approx 18 months ago from original owner. Near mint condition with original packaging. Works perfectly and sounds great. Innuos say the Mkii Zenith will sound better than the mkiii Zen so grab a bargain.

I have a couple of good ones available: ETI Quiessence Q3000 for example. Might have an Audionote silver litz as well. Would need to check lengths as they might be 75cm PM if your interested
-
Extra Info: Looking for a Lampizator dac to upgrade from my current Big 4. What have you got? Please touch base by PM Thanks

Ethernet System for Audio: putting it all together
Gryffles replied to dbastin's topic in Ethernet & Networking for Audio
Let’s get this thread back on topic by discussing relevant posts. There is a thread that is specifically for Roon related discussion. My Ediscreation Switch that arrived a couple of weeks ago has had a significant impact on my system in conjunction with the Waversa ext-1. It’s also very sensitive to power cord changes. The instructions say to use a quality power cord and he ain’t joking. I have 2x Atlas Mavros Grun Ethernet cables arriving today………let’s see what they do! Happy days -
Further Information: Purchased a few months ago brand new and mounted using a Smartractor and Fozgemeter. Would have max 125 hrs and most likely less.......thank me later for running it in for you! I prefer the Ebony to the LPS as it's not as coloured. Think 300b vs 45 with the Ebony L being the 45 Original packaging included. Cantilever is dead straight.
