  1. Thanks for the quick replys, yeah has to be new. He listens to a range of stuff, lost of 90's rock and more acoustic stuff like Paul Kelly.
  2. Hi Guys, I'm after advice on an amplifier and speaker setup for my dad. He's after a replacement stereo amplifier and speakers. He went down to Domayne and they suggested a Denon PMA-52AE amplifier for $455 and JBL Studio 230 6.5" bookshelf speakers for $490. Total $945 I dare say he'll be quite happy with them however I thought I'd ask on here if there was any better deals out there as I asked the same thing a few years ago on here and was pointed in the direction of a better deal online for a NAD amplifier and wharfedale speakers which turned out great. So basic question if you had less than $1000 to spend on an amp and speakers what would you be buying?
  3. Hi guys, I've recently come into possession of a AGS turntable of some kind. I can't say a whole lot about it other than it's belt drive and probably hasn't been played in a very long time. It appears to spin however I haven't tried in on a record yet. Is this turntable likely to be any good and is there anything I should be doing before trying it with a record?
  4. Yeah in hindsight old member isn't very accurate here.
  5. Hi guys, I've used this site for recommendations in the past but decided to make a new account. My system at present consists of a NAD c316BEE amplifiier, some Wharfedale 9.1's which were suggested by some poeple on here, and the strangest assortment of random bits and pieces you've seen including a TEAC AM/FM tuner that my mum bought with her first stereo in 1977 (I'm only 23 so long before my time), a Sony 5 disk cd player, an old CDC turntable and a behringer phono pre amp which was generously donated by a member on here. I've joined again to get some advice on some gear I've inherited and I've posted over in the amplifiers section about an old NAD 3240PE amplifier I've been given so if anybody knows anything about it then head over there and give me some advice. Thanks
  6. Hi Guys, I've recently been given a NAD 3240PE amplifier and some B&W ovale speakers (I'll leave the speakers for another post). Upon setting it up and turning everything on I've noticed the right channel is not working and there are some bad pops and cracks. I've looked around the internet and it looks like this is common with these units. My question is whether you think it will be worth fixing and if so what costs you would imagine would be involved.
