  1. Hi thanks for the advice on this one. The turntable was very poorly packed and moved by professional movers and as a result was found tipped on its side in a box with the arm hanging free. It still works but the whole automatic play mechanism is out of whack and the needle has def taken damage. I'm pretty gutted. If anyone can help with information on replacement stylus or cartridge for my turntable please let me know! Many thanks!
  2. I am very new to this and would appreciate any help with my turntable. It is a garrard 35sb and I suspect it needs a new stylus/cartridge. It has a 4 point plug. Infact I probably need to get it taken in a given a once over by an expert. Can anybody point me in the direction of a solid, reasonable price repair person? Thanks!
  3. Thanks for the feed back re the turntable Rockman. I agree with you about a new stylus. I will investigate further of whats best for mine. Also nice to get a bit of perspective about the amp. My only resource for opinion so far had been google.
  4. Thank you all! it has def been alot of fun searching for the right speakers. I have since found more info about my amp which has assisted in the speaker search. Aiwa Ax7500. 110w into 4 ohms or 90 watts into 8. It says the watts per channel are 30w. I got some Celestion F20 speakers as new in dark apple wood for $160 aud. 89db, 8ohms. My amplifier is more than powerful enough to drive these 100watt speakers and they look and sound incredible. Everything I was able to find out about these speakers was complimentary so Im very happy! They are perfect as stereo speakers but I can see I will be making these the home theatre speakers in the future.
  5. Cheers guys, I'm going for the unicorn - awesome speakers for less than $150. looking on ebay and gumtree. Ultimately they don't have to be brand new top of the range as long as they are ideal for the amp I have and sound good. I've listened to Bose, B&W, wharfedale, jbl they all sound good but chances of getting anything like that in my price range is minimal to zero! Size - book shelf would be fine but bigger floor standing speakers would be cool as well. I would love to get some older seakers to compliment the old turntable and amplifier. Henry what is the reason for high sensitivity 93db+? Is it to maximise sound from the turntable?
  6. Hi there, My wife wanted to play some vinyl albums that we both have so I started by getting a turntable. I'm no expert so any comments (positive or negative) are welcomed if you know anything about what I have so far. The turntable is a Garrard 35SB - well looked after. The amp, as my user name suggests, is an Aiwa AX 7500 - also in pretty good nick but untested as I haven't got any speakers for it yet, but assured by seller it is all good. The speakers are the next part of the puzzle so I'm really keen to get any advice on what speakers would be ideal to run off the amp. From what I have learnt about the amp it is 30wpc into 8ohms. Thanks for your help!
  7. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
  8. Hi there, New to all of this but really keen to get some advice on my set up. Any suggestions on speakers to run off my Aiwa AX 7500? 30 watts per channel into 8ohms. Using it primarily to play records off a Garrard 35SB Thanks!
