  1. They are typical quad esls. Very airy open sound. They are just too big for my place.
  2. Hi, thanks for your Interest. I tried them out about three months ago. The static was audible at low volumes but didn’t appear to be there at normal levels. And I couldn’t tell that there was a difference in levels between The two speakers
  3. Further information: I am the second owner of these speakers and have had them for a number of years. When we moved house they were far too big for the room and have been sitting in the garage ever since. I tested them a couple of months ago and had forgotten how open and transparent they were. One speaker has very low static when the music is low or off but doesn’t seem to intrude when the volume is turned up to normal. The other has no issues. These were checked out by John Hall long ago and put away and never been used since. The speakers themselves are in very good condition. The top veneer is a bit faded but are very smooth and all it would take is some furniture oil to bring them back up. The “socks” (sleeves?) are in excellent condition and very clean except for a small 1 cm nick on the outer back edge which you can’t see from the front. The white spots on the base of the stands are bits of white paint which splattered while I was painting in the garage. I had the speakers carefully covered except for the stands so there is no paint any higher than the bases. This was acrylic paint so will come off easily Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved. Further information: Have had these fabulous speakers for some years and they have brought me hours of listening pleasure. There are many reviews on the net, all of them being hugely positive. They are dynamic, transparent, detailed without being bright and image brilliantly. They have always had the covers on. Anyone looking for high quality stand mount speakers would be truly satisfied with these. I have the original box and packaging and willing to ship at buyer’s expense and risk. Price does not include stand. . Naturally the better the signal the better the sound and these incredible speakers won’t be embarrassed by equipment far more expensive. I have always had the speaker grills on. The speakers are sold with all the original packaging. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

Further information: selling my great Primare 30.5 amp as it’s not being used and have been collecting stuff over the years but now it’s time to sell so I can free up my garage. This is a brute of an amp putting out 120 wpc. there is a dent on the bottom left hand side of the amp which I did because it is so heavy that I bumped it against another amp. But you can’t see it from the front. Anyway obviously this doesn’t effect the working of the amp. Checked all the channels and all working fine. sorry I can’t ship as it’s too heavy for me to take to the PO. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  6. Hi Andy, I was in exactly the same position as you, probably even more confused. I have Dynaudio Confidence C1 speakers and wanted to start streaming with equipment that would do justice to the Dyns. I also wanted to reduce the number of cables etc. I would have considered almost every streamer without actually understanding what they were talking about. I wanted an end game so didn’t want to have to worry about the upgrade path. Eventually I was advised by two dealers that a combined amp/streamer would be the way to go for my purposes. So I auditioned three and decided to buy the Naim Uniti Nova. I’m not saying that it was the best but it is certainly easy to operate and that’s what I needed. The price I was offered was amazing and that also helped with my decision. I quite like the idea of a Nad because it has the Dirac system but I didn’t have the opportunity to try it. The dealer I bought mine from actually had my speakers in their showroom for a short time so I was able to hear what the Nova would sound like with my speakers. and they sounded good. good luck with your search. It can be exciting and frustrating.
  7. The 160s are a 4 ohm speaker and need lots of power to really make them sing. And preferably something on the warmer side of neutral. I had mine running with a Redgum 160/304 wpc with Redgum’s famed mid range warmth and great bottom end they were fabulous. But with other much more expensive but transparent amps they can be a touch too detailed for me although some may like that sound. And don’t even think about a receiver. I tried mine through my Marantz receiver and it was just rubbish.
  8. Further information: I bought these items in a rash moment several years ago and I don’t think they had been used. I have had them opened but can’t remember using them myself and as I don’t use headphones and I have moved on, I suspect I never will. However, someone may enjoy playing around with these and experimenting. There is a tube buffer, a headphone amp and a power supply. All in their boxes. Took these pictures 7 years ago and never got around to posting it on SNA . Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

  10. I don’t know why I didn’t do that in the first place. Will do that tomorrow
  11. Further information: i have had these speakers since new. RRP at the time was $4$ but I bought them from Tivoli for $3k. They are wonderful, smooth sounding speakers and the cabinets are works of art. Almost flawless ( I noticed a couple of small marks on the base which you can’t see from the top). They go deep and I never needed a subwoofer with them and only bought a REL when I replaced them. I have included a page from their brochure as well as an extract from a review done at the time ( hope it’s readable). They weight about 50 kgs the pair so only pick up I’m afraid Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

  13. Thanks for that Mallard. If sjb266 is interested in doing it that way I’d be happy to consider it.
