  1. oops! didn't realise it was so full, I have cleaned it out now
  2. Some extra info on the LPSU: The Hologram 3 brings sonic improvements which literally leave your jaw on the ground. I know very well how the supply operates - I designed and refined it over a long period - but the subjective effect on the music is something else again which defies comprehension. Most linear supplies use feedback to control voltage; this circuit does not, and so there cannot be any damped overshoot characteristics or slew rate issues. Regulation is done in real time rather than after the event. Impedance falls with rising current and speed is in the MHz range. This appears to be the clue to what is going on. Dimensioning is extremely critical and must be tailored to the current draw very carefully. I'm very, very pleased with it because it's unique and works so incredibly well. I intend to bring quite a few to RMAF, and run a continuous, dynamic demonstration with a SB for all to hear. Hologram is a premium power supply/conditioner from Hugh Dean of Aksa Amps was $750 new! http://www.aksaonline.com/discussion/discussion_hugh.html Share this comment Link to comment

  8. Great comments, thanks! The email I got yesterday states 2/3rds of customers upgrade to lifetime license. It ticks a lot of boxes, I guess I'll throw a coin, heads 1 year, tails lifetime. Was also running the trial of HQPlayer, interesting software..
  9. My Roon trial is coming to an end and I wanted to ask opinions on what membership is worth going for 1 year or lifetime? CA moves that fast! a year is a long time, although feels quicker these days
  10. 250 inc shipping?? Open to offers??
  11. Hi, I have a barely used Intel NUC for sale that still has plastic on it, it runs Roon perfectly also Netflix and Kodi streaming. Barely used! comes with box and charger. Specs: 4Gb DDR3 RAM 120Gb SSD Updated 2830 CPU 1Gb Ethernet WiFi 802.11 bgn Bluetooth 4.0 1x USB 3.0 on front panel 2x USB 2.0 on back Full HDMI port supporting upto 7.1 channel audio. Built in IR port I can re-image with Windows 10 before pickup/post.
  12. Hi John, When I first set it up I had a few drop outs, I have since changed a few setting in Roon and it appears to playing really well now with no drop outs. (Early days and I need more time to listen to various formats) It's still in beta so I think it's a good opportunity to feedback any issues people experience to Devialet, this is what it should have sounded like when it was released instead of the broken implementation they sold to the public. Dare I go as far in saying that Devialet owners should get rid of the streamers they have? That's a personal call but I'm far from displeased with the sound as it stands and hopefully the Windows beta won't be far behind for those that don't have a Mac. I also think this solution is only viable with 3rd party software solutions like roon that give you a good remote control option and interface. It does sound very different to USB though! And it's got me listening much.
  13. Thought I'd start a new thread for people's views and opinions similar to here: http://devialetchat.com/showthread.php?tid=3028&page=20 Just got a trial of roon and installed new v3 beta on my old 2010 iMac with ssd and 8gb ram connected via Ethernet. Air Ethernet only as Air wifi didn't play without having dropouts. Can't use DOP with DSD files as you get background hiss so have roon converting to pcm. After a few hiccups I'm surprised to say over he past two nights I'm really impressed in its beta form, music is very engaging and I am pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds. More listening again later tonight, but I can only describe it as immersive 3D like and I was so close to pulling the trigger on a microrendu. What are other dev owners finding? I for one need more time but I may be purchasing roon at this stage.
