  1. My favourite whiskey of last year, and thankfully snaffled another bottle after opening which remains in the cabinet. The good news is that the 2023 has just been released and a quick check has both Nicks and the Whisky Company having it in stock. Apparently a slightly less sherried profile than the 2022 but plenty have rated it just as high. Chris
  2. Hi Zander’s. forget $100. Happy to give you this for postage. Just tested with batteries and works fine. Will also throw in the earpieces. the only thing I may not have is the charger if you can live with that- it I haven’t had a good look yet. May find it in another cupboard if you are interested. Chris
  3. I don't leave the country without my JBL charge 3 and for the size I think it sounds great - lack of bass has never been an issue for me. While sound is important I also need to take weight into consideration as most of my trips are business and require a full suitcase, and that was the speaker that ticked pretty much all of the boxes for me weighing in at around 1kg. Id at least consider having a listen to the 5th iteration of this.
  4. Does the listener being ripped also count as a preference?
  5. Hi Don, You're likely to get responses from two different camps here. The first being from those who value the simplicity of a "plug and play" turntable in which they are happy with the cartridge designed for the table. The best example here would be the Rega turntables. Simple to use and at that pricepoint you would be in the highly rated Planar 8 and Ania (rrp $4800) or Ania pro ($5400) territory. Changing cartridges couldn't be simpler if you stick with the Rega brand and you never have to worry about VTA as long as you stick with Rega. This example is also the same for some other brands Others will steer you towards a set up that allows a bit more flexibility that allows you the benefit of trying different cartridges that may require a bit more time is set up, and you would benefit from a deck that has more options in adjusting the arm, or speed. Brands like technics 1200GR ($2,849 without a cartridge) are very popular for this and also have great reviews. The first decision may be to decide which path you want to tread... Chris
  6. If these are still available Ill grab these. PM sent Thanks Chris
  7. Hi George. An Intersting comment you make on the CXC. It wasn’t that long ago that you posted that it was a real eye opener and you were “stunned” at just how good the CXC sounded. Did you do further tests that changed your mind?
  8. It looks like you have to use the remote first turn the owner on before the pleasure controller can be fully utilised. beautiful looking amp.
  9. Item:Mission 75-AS Rosewood Subwoofer Price Range: $350 - $450 Item Condition: Working Extra Info: Unit needs to be working with speakers in good condition, however no problems with minor scuff marks. Prefer Perth sale however will consider other states if Seller is willing to safely and securely pack (courier to be organised by myself)
  10. Removed - Question re voltage and plug type answered above
  11. To add to Greg's comment above another reason to maybe sell your stuff (or keep it here) will be due to the voltage differences. Im no electrical expert but at 110v in the US I'm assuming you will not be able to use your equipment unless you have a device (step down transformer?) to reduce the voltage.
  12. Thanks for thoughts George and Satanica. In the past I have leaned more towards buying the vinyl if the DR difference was substantial (and in some recent purchases such as the new tears for fears it is quite a difference)- but considering the DR for this release is roughly the same between the two formats I was interested to see if anyone had managed to compare the two. I like both formats but from what I've read at this stage I'm more likely to grab the CD.
  13. Has anyone had a chance to compare the cd to the vinyl?
  14. Hi Rustee, may pay to give either Frank Prowse Hifi or Douglas Hifi here in Perth to see if they have any copies. They dont have them listed on their website but last I looked they both had copies in store. Admittedly this was a month or so ago Chris
  15. When Stereophile give a product a rating are they rating it against similar products of its price range or Just a general rating? Could it be assumed that this delivers the same sonic performance as those other ‘Class A’ components costing $50,000?
  16. HI Paul, You may find that you get more answers by posting this in the Digital Forum, not the vinyl and turntables.
  17. Hi Vinay, Thats not the "S" version. The S is a solid state preamp only. Chris
  18. At $220 plus dollars it had want to be! Although i read that there is a 2x45 version already in the pipeline............
  19. Some TVs have a time elapsed meter so you know how long the TV's been on for. Im not sure if the Q8 has one but may be worth checking if its been on active store display for a year (or possibly two). Jbs floor stock is worth a try too if you have the time to do a couple of ring arounds.
  20. Nice pick-up Blah Blah. Ill have to get me a bottle of that too. Speyside is my favourite region.
  21. I notice that one of the majors (Liquorland here in WA) has Dimple 12yo at $40 at the moment. At that price its also a worthy contender for a daily tipple. Will definitely be worth comparing to Johnnie Black.
  22. Hi Ritero, Ive just PM'd you about a Vincent PHO-8 which Im sure will do the job.
  23. Pops110, have you had a chance to play with this yet and if yes, what were your thoughts?
  24. As someone who's favourite drams are mortlach 16 year old and oban, I have always thought the ubiquitous johnnie black an honest easy to drink everyday drink, and much more in what I would call 'affordable'. When on special (and it usually is) I don't believe you can go wrong for under $50.
