Thanks for the advice, I’m in no hurry to make a purchase straight away. I’ll keep saving I think for now I’ll watch the classifieds and see what tables are up for sale. I’ll look to upgrade the pre amp later on down the track. I guess with the tables I mentioned it just comes down to preference. I listen to a lot of modern rock, old punk, old soul as well as some hip hop. If anyone has had experiences with any or all of those models I’d be interested to hear.

Just hoping for some advice to help me in upgrading my current setup. Which is basic entry level. NAD C533 NAD PP2 I have a modest budget in mind of $1500. Definitely thinking second hand for best bang for my buck. Thinking I can always upgrade the pre amp later on put all my budget into a new table for now. Some tables that come to my mind are. Clearaudio Concept Mofi Studiodeck Rega P3,Rp6 Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all the info so far guys. I’m definitely intrigued with the D50 unit. Sounds like a good starting point. Has anyone had any experience purchasing anything via Massdrop?

Hoping for some wisdom to buy my first dac. My hifi history has mostly been involved with analog audio. I’m building a new home and I’m setting up a multi room system with a Denon heos sound bar, 2 separate heos speakers and an existing 2 channel set up of a NAD C352 Amplifier, NAD C542 CD player and Dynaudio Emit 20’s speakers. I want some advice on an external DAC receiver for all these transports. Working on a $500 budget for now. any help is appreciated I’m completely new to DAC’s and still don’t fully understand the different functions

Bluetooth receiver purchase advise
Josh83 replied to Josh83's topic in General Hi-Fi & Beginners Discussion
I’m still undecided at the moment. I have bought the bookshelves already a pair of Dynaudio Emit 20’s. I also own a Denon Heos sound bar/sub and 2 wireless speakers. I’m now thinking of purchasing the Heos Link pre amp https://www.au.denon.com/au/heoslinkhs2 As I understand this will join my Nad and speakers into the Heos network. Maybe the possibility of adding an external DAC also down the road when money allows. Again I’m open to discussion or other opinions happy to do plenty of research. -
Like the title states I’m looking to buy a Link device for the Heos system. I have the soundbar and some speakers already and I’m looking to hook up my older stereo into a home network. Located on the Sunshine Coast Qld Thanks in advance. Josh

I have a NAD C355 integrated amplifier which runs a turntable and a CD player. I’m looking into purchasing some new bookshelf speakers for the setup. I also want to make the setup Bluetooth compatible so I can stream audio from phone/devices etc. My question is would a more expensive receiver like the Audioengine B1 with what I believe has built in DAC capabilities be worthwhile over day a cheaper Logitech model? Will I actually get that much better results? Ultimately I’d rather more money to spend on speakers so this the dilemma I’m currently weighing up. Sorry for the long post any advice is greatly appreciated thanks.

I'm leaning towards this. The P3 is online for $1121. At a stretch I could probably up the budget to get the 2M Bronze which is around $500. I have had my Nad for 10 happy years I'm sure I'd at least have another 10 even happier years with that combo.
-
Does anyone have any experience with how the new P3 stacks up in comparison to the rp6? Is there still a large gap between the two tables?
-
Nice thanks for the link. Definitely a possibility in that price range.
-
Thanks for all the advice. I'll have a look over at the classified section to see what tables are for sale. Great point about the rp6 perhaps with the new p6 on the way there could be some up for sale in the near future. Cartridges is the one thing I'm not real sure on I've only ever had the stock goldring elektra on my NAD.
-
You find the ortofon carts better than the exact cartridge?
-
Hi all been inactive for a while now. But I'm considering upgrading from my old NAD C555 deck which is essentially a re badged rp2. I had a budget in mind of $1500 turntable and cartridge. I'm leaning towards a planar 3 with an exact 2 cartridge. I thought I would put it out here and take advantage of the wealth of experience and other opinions. Other considerations have been a Thorens table in the same price range. Also I'll state that I have a NAD PP2 pre amplifier. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated thanks.

The groovetracer subplatter and delrin platter would be $538 posted. The 24v motor upgrade would be $300, the psu would be $350. So at $1188 for that I could get a p3 which I don't think is much of an upgrade for that money the p6 is a different story at about $1600 less the cart.
-
I looked into the groovetracer products I was considering the deluxe sub platter and the delrin platter. I want to upgrade to a better cartridge also and I wasn't sure about new isolation feet as a possibility down the track.
-
What have you upgraded you don't mind me asking?
-
I've had a look over his site seems to have a lot of different stuff. I'm all over the place with different alternatives at the moment I think firstly I'm just going to start saving and keep researching. The clearaudio concept had really caught my eye also and that is another step up in price again so I think I'm best to start saving and see how I go.

If my budget was a $1000 for a new TT what is the best value for money. I'm guessing most would say a P3 any thoughts on the TD 235? I have read some bad reviews on the TD 295 mk v. Just weighing up all my options any advice is appreciated.
-
What TT's would you recommend under a thousand dollars?
-
Ok so after doing some research the NAD C555 is indeed a rebadged Rega P2. It comes stock with the RB250 tonearm what I was thinking of upgrading was the cheap plastic sub platter and the mdf platter. Unfortunately upgrading to a new TT is not a possibility for me at the moment.
