  1. Try the basic Project Phono Box E - borrowed my friend's one as he has been unable to hook up his system. Beats the built-in phono stages in your vintage integrated amplifiers.
  2. Since I wrote this comment, I have replaced the springs with stiffer ones from Vinyl Nirvana, had them tuned, replaced the motor with a newer one & anti-knocking attachment, upgraded the arm from a Rega RB 300 to RB 3000, to which I replaced the counterweight with an Expressimo Audio one, & the piece de resistance, a Lyra Etna Lambda!
  3. I haven't posted for a little while. Joe did the FVP6 upgrade in 2014 - couldn't be happier! My friend has one, which he thinks is not quite up there. I am running a Lyra Etna Lambda (0.56 mV output) straight into the phono stage, my third Lyra, no problem with any. No problem with Linn ASak (OEM Supex) or Denon DL-103 at around 0.3 mV, but the FR-1 Mk 3 (retipped by Lyra) at 0.14 mV was a bit of a stretch, as I had to turn the volume to 1-2 o'clock , whereas 10-11 o'clock is what I normally turn it up on the Lyras, & the AT OC-9 before it.
  4. I have had 2 cartridges retipped by them in the past. A Grado Signature 8 Revised with an elliptical stylus. An Audio Technica OC-9 I with a replacement boron cantilever & FG II stylus - made my cartridge "sound like a $3k cartridge", with the base cover denuded - until I bought my $3k cartridge, the Lyra Helikon; since then I have been trading up, as it is more cost effective than retipping, which would invalidate the original manufacturer's warranty anyway. I believe that AT have taken some of these on-board, as the now top of the line OC-9 XML (microline) has a boron cantilever. The Garrott Brothers' retipping serve their purposes at fair prices, but for ultra high end cartridges like Lyra, best to send it back to the manufacturer one way or the other, for a rebuild or trade-up. Attached is their 2019 price list. garrott-cartridge_service-2019.pdf
  5. I've done one for my Thorens TD-160 super since 1989. Used a DSE/Digitor 240/115V step down transformer to feed an exact 110V (via a few resistors) to the motor. Lowers the noise floor, as isolates it from mains noise. Also "Lingo'ed" upstream as I use a PS Audio P10 power regenerator for extra benefit.
  6. Thanks for your comment - very true. It has been a valuable partner to my Lyra Helikon & Skala since 2002.
  7. Further information: The Rega RB300 tonearm is well known to members of this group. I have owned this new since 1989, had it mounted on my Thorens TD-160 Super, & have performed the following modifications/upgrades/enhancements on it. - silver internal Litz wiring (from memory Cardas) - Expressimo Audio 115g "full moon" drop counterweight - improved bass reproduction, tracking, musical detail, resolution & shifts tonearm resonance to the "optimum" 10 Hz. (The original drop weight, there have been many copies since) - Expressimo Audio "VTAF" (Vertical Tracking Angle on the Fly) which allows fine VTA adjustment due to the variability of record thicknesses, without compromising stiffness, secured by original nut - Separate ground lead with mini banana plug (original was grounded through the earth of the RCA plugs) - 2 x 1.5 metre lengths of Furutech FR-alpha S22 Oxygen-free Copper (OFC) tonearm lead, which retails for $85 a metre (total value $255) (connected by 15cm of original Chord Chrysalis phono tail, which is hard wired to the internal Litz cables) - Terminated by a pair of locking WBT110 Ag silver plugs, retail AUS $88 each (total value $176) - Last 2 upgrades done in 2018 All working well. My reason for selling is that my Lyra Skala's stylus recently packed it in after 900+ hours, & am planning an upgrade to an Etna, plus a Rega RB2000. Selling price takes into consideration recent upgrades in the phono lead & RCA plugs, however, please feel free to make reasonable offers. I will post anywhere in Australia for a flat $20, on top of the selling price. Overseas customers, please check Australia's Post's website (www.auspost.com.au) for a quote from 2222 to your country. 8. Hi, I have such a combination. I have a modified TD-160 Super - armageddon-type step down transformer, plus silver wired Rega RB-300, with Expressimo Audio 115g drop weight; tonearm tail Furutech FR-222. To my ears, in my system, sounds more musical than 2 LP-12s I had in my system in 2018; one Valhalla, one Mose Hercules; with Linn Asak & Denon DL-103 cartridges respectively.

This unique filter has the best chance of "cleaning" electrical noise because it shields around 40% more frequencies when compared to other filters. It is an Active filter and can "clean" unwanted frequencies on both the upward curve and the downward curve of a sine wave (power). Most other filters only work at the crest of the wave and therefore miss a huge section of unwanted frequencies that can generate noise on sensitive electronic devices. 10. I've owned a G08.2 for 7 years now. It was a store demo for a store which is no longer with us, so it was run in. Initial problem with on-off switch & discs not playing - took it to the distributor, & found it was cold joins in the power switch & stage, & these were rectified. Has performed flawlessly since in the context of tube pre and power amplifier.
  11. I have a TD-160 Super - the motor runs at 120V, & I am running an old Dick Smith 2:1 stepdown transformer into it, much like the naim armageddon for the LP-12.
  12. Get lucky in 2019! I have strategically reduced the asking price to $888 - not just so I can attract the Asian buyers - I do not discriminate about the buyer, just want this pair to find a loving new home, where they will be appreciated!
  13. Sydney, NSW only. The pair in Brisbane sold with the NAD M25 digital amp is a lot nicer - I have no problems with anyone buying that pair, but if you're not a local, freight costs can prove to be a real killer!
  14. I think I know where I might have fouled up. I inadvertently gave away my mobile phone number in an e-mail answering a question from another member, & then eBay threatened to charge me "final value fees" if I went ahead. If that happens, it may tell me that the product is "no longer available".
  15. Your pair are nicer than the pair I have for sale on this forum. I am selling them on behalf of a friend who had 3 active sons, now grown up. By the way, what are the serial numbers of your pair? The pair I have are 1219/1220. My friend made a pair of wheeled stands for them.

  17. I have one of these plus a NAP 250 which a friend left for me for sale. There is a paucity of information on the web, even on naim's own site. These 2 come with the old NAPS power supply (the original). Sorry for the inane question, but I have not owned or operated naim amplifiers before. So how do I power on the NAC 32 with NAPS. I have the 4 point DIN cable to XLR for connection to the power amp, & have ordered a SNAIC equivalent 4 point to 4 point DIN.
  18. I have relisted, as the other place which I thought I had sold it fouled up. Someone won the bid, & when he went to pay, that site said "no longer available". They are still in my garage, for audition by anyone in the Sydney Metro area who's interested, prior to purchase. Local pick-up, Penshurst, NSW only.
  19. I have a friend with Grado Black cartridges, both mono & stereo, & is looking for a vintage phono preamp with 2 MM inputs. I had a look in the StereoNet classifieds, but was not able to find anything today. Could the "panel of experts" out there let me know what is available? I know new phono stages with 2 outputs are not available until you get well into the high end ie Aesthetix
  20. I know not many of you use cassettes these days, but if you do, I've lowered the asking price to $50 ONO.
