  1. Hmm, You may be able to use the LFE output, connect it to one of the wall plugs and use a speaker to RCA on the other end to connect to the sub. I don't think you could use the speaker outputs on the receiveer as they would be sending down too much power.
  2. I got my wavepanel wedges last week and they seem to do the job fine.
  3. Very nice stand but I might go for a more basic alternative at this point. Found these which might do the job. http://www.wavepanels.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=17 Asking the manufacturer about them.
  4. I am considering these http://www.truesoundcontrol.com/products/MOPAD3.html
  5. Just wondering what people are using to angle their centre speaker? Thanks, Alex
  6. First Impressions: It sounds like the system is gruntier and has more in reserve and is more effortless. Of course it could just be being happy with new components. I watched Star Wars 4 on Saturday and 5 tonight. Had the volume up at a reasonable level and the system sounded pretty good The actions scenes sounded great and I could feel the woofers. Listened to a couple of CDs as well and enjoyed those as well. Don't know if I will bother with AB testing.
  7. Hey guys. Just installed it yesterday. Haven't had a chance to crank the system yet. Good news: I can fit it next to my centre speaker My centre speaker doesn't look that big now Bad news: The tv looks small Here are two photos.
  8. Thanks agelessgoodguy, I'll drop them an email and see what they have available.
  9. Thanks for the advice. I've decided to get the power amp first. Would love a Parasound a51 but slightly out of my budget Will have to settle for a Sherbourn PA 5-200 or something similar.
  10. I don't find the bass lacking at the moment. The speakers I have at the moment are full range and can go down to 30hz.
  11. I was thinking with the XPA-5 I would keep the Yamaha receiver for the time being as it does have Pre-Outs to drive the power amp for the time being Funny thing about the JBL sub is that I can't find any model identification on it so I have no idea how powerful it is. In terms of the Oppo Player I have only room for one system and so it will be for movie and music hence why I am looking at the BDP-105 as well to improve the music playback but I heard it was pretty good for movies as well using the analog outs.
  12. Forgot to mention that I do have a sub; JBL but don't know the model as it is a hand me down. I was thinking the power amp initially but just been reading up about the Oppo hence I thought I ask people on SNA.
  13. Just upgrade the speakers earlier this year =). My current setup is LCR - BW CM9s, BW CMC2 AVR - Yamaha RX-A820 (rated at 100W 2ch) Sony S590 - BDP The Speakers are rated up to 200W but I don't really need them to be driven hard. I am interested in the clarity and dynamic an amp would bring to this as opposed to a better source player.
  14. In the ongoing effort to improve our systems.... Currently using a 100W AVR and Basic Sony BDP. Have people been thru the same Dilemma and what you decide? Thanks, Alex
  15. Looking at improving my system and looking at the BD-105. It seems like a pretty good Pre-Amp to me. Only thing it seems to be missing is a few additional HDMI inputs and some room correction software.
  16. So to summarize If I hooked up an Oppo via HDMI instead the DAC would still take place on the AVR. Currently I have a Yamaha receiver with Burr-Brown DAC hooked up to a basic CDP. The BUrr Brown is supposed to pretty good I am led to believe.
  17. I thought that was the case. So provided you have a good DAC in the AVR are there any advantages in getting a hi-end CD/BD player? It seems most of the time they trumpet the fact they have a good DAC.
  18. Morning all, If I have a CDP with HDMI out going to an AVR where does the digital to analog conversion take place? Thanks, Alex
  19. Thanks for the tips guys. Now I am considering if I am better off with the XPA-5 so I could just get a dedicated PreProcessor in the future; LOL.
  20. I just checked with them about shipping and it was $270 to Sydney. Must've been using the wrong options on the fedex site. So the amp would come in under $1k landed!
  21. hmm, I was hoping to power the centre channel thru a power amp as well. Decisions, decisions. I did some quick checks on shipping the XPA-3 over from the states @%^#$! Such a shame.
  22. Currently have a WIndows 8 PC running media centre which I am happy with for TV and movies. However for audio the two issues are: I need to turn on the TV to select the music to play. Windows Media Centre doesn't support FLAC files. So I was hoping someone could recommend a solution which would address these issues. Cheers, Alex
  23. Thanks for the comments guys. I am considering the emotiva XPA-3 though I have heard people say that a dedicated Stereo Amp has better musicality.
