  1. DOA JVC-X5500 Projector

Bought from retailer based in Vic, better not mention the name. Unit was sent out directly from JVC. No more x5500 stock left as per JVC, that may be the reason why they prefer to fix it instead. The retailers website no longer show same model, I assume they have no more stock of same model as well. They still have the x7500 on the web, would be great if they give me that instead, for a little extra $ :-)
  2. DOA JVC-X5500 Projector

Thank you to everyone! I'll get the retailer to either send me a replacement or refund. Will post updates as they come. Might not go with JVC anymore, any suggestion on what other brand/model to get on a similar price range? Any thoughts on the new model Sony pj's aside from higher price?
  3. DOA JVC-X5500 Projector

Thanks guys , I actually contacted the dealer first but was told to deal directly with JVC. I paid via paypal, so have the option of disputing the transaction. Will speak to them again tomorrow and see how it goes.
  4. Hello SNA, Just got off the phone with JVC rep regarding a faulty X5500 (nil power, no lights when plugged in, dead.....) I bought the projector brand new from an Australian dealer. It arrived safely packaged, no sign of mishandling and really looks new! But does not want to turn on! Adding to the inconvenience of receiving a faulty item which was supposed to be brand new, I was told to get it to a tech to "get it certified" that it's really dead before they start the warranty process! (was told maybe just needs a firmware update!....well it's dead!) Nearest tech is 1 hr drive away from Brisbane, or I could get it couriered to the tech (which means longer delay to resolution). I cannot call myself an expert on PJ's but finding out if the unit powers or not is not that technical. I was told that it's a 1st time in JVC history that a DOA unit is received by customer (I wonder if everyone here will agree to this) and units passes through a strict QC. Hearing this I felt that he implied that I might have broken it. Needless to say, I'm less than impressed with the way JVC is handling this issue. This is the 1st projector purchase from me and obviously would not be happy if it just gets repaired at the tech ( and worse if told that there's actually nothing wrong with it). I am only requesting a new replacement unit and willing to wait, seems reasonable request to me. It's quite annoying really, resolution still in limbo, instead of making the customer feel confident that a resolution to the issue will be quick. Definitely not a good customer experience. Any advice from the community will be very much appreciated!
