  1. Great to hear. I'll find a local dealer and give them a listen. Cheers!
  2. My speaker cables are all banana plugs, so I guess I’m looking for something I can easily plug my cables into rather than older speakers with spade type connections. Perhaps I could change the connections at the back of the vintage speakers but I wouldn’t know how or where to start...
  3. Thanks to you and Grizzly for alerting me to the Wharfdale Lintons. They definitely pass the eye test. Have you listened to a pair? Do they pass the ear test (particularly lower frequencies)?
  4. Thanks for your very thoughtful reply. The room is an open plan lounge/kitchen/dining, so a decent size space. We tend to entertain a lot so I'd like to get something that can be turned up loud on the odd occasion. I'd prefer a set of speakers that does not require an additional sub, but am willing to get one if required.
  5. Hi all I'm currently looking for a new set of classic style speakers to go with my PrimaLuna HP Integrated amplifier and turntable. I'm looking for something with a classic look and all round speaker (with nice bass tones). Essentially, I'm after a high performing speaker in a retro box. My listening tastes are all over the map, spanning from afrobeat, to classic, to hiphop, to rock and everything in between. The speakers I am immediately attracted to are heritage speakers coming out of the US: JBL L100s Klipsch Heresy III Klipsch Forte III Can you recommend any of these speakers? Are there other models I should be looking at? Cheers Fred
  6. I wouldn't trust most of those either mind you! True true!
  7. I don't trust our postal service enough to send the items by post. If you arrange a courier, I'm happy to dispatch the items that way.

  9. Item: Clearaudio Concept Turntable Location: Canberra Price: $1600 Item Condition: Near new Reason for selling: Upgrading Payment Method: Pickup - Cash or bank transfer Extra Info: This is a fantastic German turntable and a great entry point into high fidelity. The magnetic tone arm means the table is extremely quiet. The turntable is set up with an Orofon Red cartridge with less than 15 hours play on it. I'll also include the original Concept MM cart (retail value $350) that will need to be re-tipped. I'm looking to upgrade so selling this turntable and a Thorens (also posted on this site). Pick up in Canberra. Pictures:
  10. Item: Thorens TD 160 mk I Location: Canberra Price: $800 Item Condition: Very good used Reason for selling: Upgrading Payment Method: Pickup - Cash or bank transfer Extra Info: For sale is my Thorens TD 160 mk I. It has a Rega RB250 tonearm on it that has an upgraded metal stub and counterweight. The RB250 has been rewired as well. The whole TT was fully serviced by Decibel Hifi a few years ago. The original Perspex cover has been replaced by a new one, with no marks on it. The side pivots have been removed with new hinges put on the back, leaving a small hole on either side. The cartridge is a Roksan Corus Blue, which looks in good condition and should have many more hours in it. The motor runs perfectly smoothly, no bearing noise at all. The speed has been tested on both 33 and 45 and it is spot on. It sounds very, very nice, and compared very well with TT combos worth multiples times more. Pick up in Canberra. Pictures:
