  1. Great album, lyrics that keep me coming back 25 years later
  2. If you want try and find out anything related to Australian electronic music of this era and hit a dead end, try emailing Robin Fox at MESS. He has been/is archiving a lot of recordings from various university music departments etc. If anyone will know it would be Robin. https://mess.foundation/
  3. Anyone have an opinion regarding which version of the Trouble No More bootleg series, LP vs CD set? The CD set has alot more music, but I suspect if the pressings are good this music could sound pretty great on record. And no need to suggest the obvious 'get both!'
  4. James Yorkston is a Scottish songwriter I have been a fan of for a while, When the Haar Rolls In is probably my favourite of his solo albums. This album is his third with Khan and Thorne, they are really hitting their stride melding the various influences
  5. I've become increasingly selective about what records I'm willing to purchase. But this one is sublime
  6. I think they've tried this with the 'Crazy Arms' venue. Guess it's just not working out. I shudder to think what the % increase in rent must have been over recent years at that location.
  7. 'Institution' status of the store itself aside, the current owner is a really nice person. No attitude. The staff at Dixons across the road could take a leaf out of his book!
  8. Not sure if this the right thread, but I just read that Hildur Gudnadottir became the first woman (as a solo artist) to win a Golden Globe for best film score for Joker. I didn't even know she did that, now I will have to see it. It's that weird realisation that your favourite 'underground' artist suddenly became world famous while you weren't paying attention.
  9. Wholehearted agreement with Radigue and Oliveros. Shame this music will remain unknown to those who prefer their endless repressings of Abbey Road! Are those write-ups your own?

  11. They were the medium of choice for DIY for a while in the mid 90's. I volunteered at a community radio station and for a few years almost all the local bands submitted their stuff on MD. It would be quite the archive of that period of local independant/underground music. None of it commerically produced though.
  12. Item: Paul Giger- Ignis Amina Alaoui- Arco Iris Franz Schubert - Trio in Es-Dur, Notturno (Thomas Demenga, Hansheinz Schneeberger, Jorg Ewald Dahler) Location: Reservoir, Melbourne Price: $10 each plus postage Item Condition: Franz Schubert is sealed. The other two are opened but in NM condition, discs, jewel cases, inserts, and outer cardboard sleeves. Reason for selling: Sometimes I buy things and forget I already have it. Payment Method: If picking up cash is OK. Paypal only if by post. Extra Info: Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  13. My current favourite noise-related video on you tube. Believe it or not, it's a synth review.
  14. Here's the undisputed modern master. Was at this gig Of course the point of a Merzbow gig is to feel it more than hear it!
  15. Item: Wireworld Solstice 7 - Stereo Audio Interconnect 1m Location: Reservoir Vic Price: $59.50 Item Condition: New, box opened but cables unused Reason for selling: Too short Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal. Will post at buyer's expense. Extra Info: Got these today from Selby Thornbury (as advertised in the SNA commercial classified). Got home and discovered I'm an idiot. Well I already knew that, but specifically in this case I didn't measure properly. Vince from @Selby Thornbury can confirm that I purchased today. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  16. Item: Sennheiser HD650 headphones Location: Reservoir, Vic Price: $225 Item Condition: Headphones are in great working order. There is some paint/enamel that's come off the headband as shown in photo (similar on both sides). Reason for selling: Every time I try them, I go back the T90 headphones instead. HD650's just don't seem to be suited to my music preferences or taste. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only. NOTE preference will be given to pick up/local buyers. Postage is possible but I think it will cost a bit, at buyer's expense and risk. I will pack as carefully as I can but Australia Post is Australia Post. Extra Info: Comes with the storage box as shown in photo, marks on corner. I don't have the outer 'wrinkle' box or the marketing/display box. I just recently replaced the foam headband insert with a genuine replacement direct from Sennheiser, and inner foam discs. Original stock cable only as seen in photo (no fancy aftermarket cables I'm afraid). Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  17. @Dave O))) So you may be the only person on SNA interested in hearing these results of some recent knob twiddling and square pushing that I have been indulging in. I can't wait for this to be the most ignored post in the most ignored thread on SNA
  18. Recently been re-appreciating what a special songwriter she is.
  19. Anything with Anja Lechner playing is worth the admission price, this one is no exception. The fact there is Gurdjieff's music makes it doubly irresistible!
  20. I've just started exploring the catalogue of this label sm-ll. Certainly isn't something with broad appeal, but I love it! Generally tends to be repetitive, sparse, employing a relatively limited sound pallette. You'll either love it instantly, or go 'huh?' To me, this kind of thing is the 'point' of electronic music. An example: https://sm-ll.bandcamp.com/album/zimn-kr-l
