  1. I may be selling a pair of 300b monos by Audile shortly, would be cheaper than the cary above. If you're interested send me a pm and I can send a few pics etc and discuss.
  2. Item Condition: Very good Shipping Options: Pickup available but audition is not available.,Shipping is included in price. Suburb or Town: Kingaroy State: Queensland Payment Method: PayPal + fees, cash or bank transfer Reason for selling: Going simple integrated route for wife/bub Item: Supratek Syrah Preamp -- WITH PHONO This was up as an eoi (then a for sale which I also withdrew...) which I withdrew but I've decided to simplify the system with bubby here now for a 1 button startup. I know it won't sound as good but need it to be simple so it actually gets used by the family. This Preamp is reasonably old as the Syrah was built prior to 2010, however this particular unit went to Mick (Supratek) for a service last year, and ended up with a complete internal rebuild, and additional features installed, so the case is old, but internally it is brand new, build to the pretty much same spec as a new Cortese that will cost $6500 + 6 month wait. Even has a brand new umbilical cord. Only improvement on this for a new build is to add the LCR phono stage which adds $1700 (from memory) to the cost, but you can buy this phono stage seperate anyway, and then run 2 turntables! (A man can dream right?) It also has balance control, home theatre bypass, tape monitor, and dual outputs. The home theatre option is a switch on the top, so you can use it bypassed or not (I.e Use as a normal input for anything) you can also use it in bypass mode with the pre off, so you don't have to waste valve life for TV etc, or teach the Mrs and Kids how to turn it on too. It is all Single Ended (RCA) as having XLR reduced the number of plugs you get and these sound better on RCA. (My Last Cortese had both and I really didn't like the XLR anyway) There are minor marks in the chrome, but no chips/actual damage, and the timber is perfect I should mention there is a crack in the plastic power button but doesn't affect use. I also have original Supratek Packing to send it safely anywhere in the country. (Or any country... but don't really want to ship overseas I need to know where it is so I can buy it back later after all haha..) Lastly I should mention the power supply chassis is a slightly darker timber to the main unit, but this never bothered me. It is a little hard to tell in the photo. I also have the option to supply it with a pair of Shuguang Black Treasure 6CA7's and the PSVane 6SN7SE that are all the rage from America. Nearly $1k to buy new if you can get anyone to ship them at the moment. These will only be available separately if someone wants the Pre without them.590ax Pictured with standard tubes but I'll try and get a picture up with the others shortly. Save yourself $3k and grab a bargain PS. Also happy to look at a swap with cash your way for a Luxman L550/590ax Photos:
  3. Might be selling some pretty special 300b ams (2 300b per amp) if you wanted to try SET amps. Would be around $3000 if I do let them go but incredibly good with higher efficiency speakers. Had EL34s before and love these.
  4. I think this is the one I had built in 2017? Nice unit. After having 3 I can say I think all supra pres have their own character and they're all very good. If this is my old one it has better transformers than most. Bargain too
  5. I'm about to relist mine with premium tubes added. If you search the classifieds you'll find the old add from last time I thought about letting it go. Completely rebuilt with the latest line stage, just an older phono circuit which is still amazing. I love it but I need a 1 button solution with a clingy bubba now haha. Happy to make a trip and drop to Brisbane by the way, does have original packing, pretty much every feature you could ask for is added to it, but RCA only.
  6. Good choice. They're about $6500 though new the $2500above is just a phono pre I think even the basic line stage model is $5000+ now.
  7. I'm running a very similar design (300b pse) on 89db Jamos at the moment and it goes more than hard enough.. May be not rock concert levels but I've never run out of power.
  8. Beautiful speakers I'm in the middle of building another pair with extra bass drivers etc. Can't wait to finish them
  9. Mate would love to grab these if still available please PM me if i haven't missed out. Will fix you up after work
  10. Will be temporarily withdrawing from sale. Sounds too good and I can't afford the difference to invest in the integrated amp I'd planned. Want to simplify system, but not if it doesn't sound good once simple
  11. Smidgen lol but totally worth the $20k upgrade. Welcome to hifi. Can add the comment that this is the only integrated I've heard that actually sounds good, way better than the accuphase range even.
  12. Looks like my plasma cutter person is up and running again, so once I get the baffles I'll continue. I'll try and post a few pictures as I go. But expect this to be a slow moving thread. It's taken a while already...
  13. So, I'm finally hitting the ground running with this speaker build (Started collecting the drivers around 2 years ago..) Basically I'm making a poor mans Hawthorne Rainer with their cheaper AMT. And have all the drivers/crossover and bass amplifiers I need. I also have a local cabbie organising CNC cutting for the MDF panelling and a mate I think I can trust to paint them up. Ultimately the design is a sheet of 32mm mdf, which will have a steel plate glued to this for the drivers to actually mount to, and a further 60mm trim around the back to help reduce resonance from the steel, and of course bulk up the edges for cosmetic reasons. For the stand basically it'll be a triangle base out of heavy steel which I'll put 3 adjustable spikes into, and will have a bar frame with a few cross members between stand and panel, all welded together with the base of the steel panel welded right across to the stand. Issue I have is the only person I knew of in the area with a plasma cutter for the steel is telling me they can't do it now as their cutter is out of order. Are there any members, or members with friends who could custom cut 6/8mm steel accurately to a design? I would be able to either supply an accurate diagram of the item, or hopefully manage to just bring one of the baffles to you. I'm in Kingaroy so would need to be somebody based in SE Old, sort of Toowoomba >> Gold Coast/Brisbane >> Sunny Coast sort of area so its a reasonable drive. Panels will be around 145cm tall. Picture above is a rough approximation of what I'm copying.
  14. True but you can go searching in here for opinions. I'm only moving mine on for a baby friendly system as we have about 40 exposed valves at the moment, when bub is big enough to be safe around them I'll be buying another. Hopefully I don't need to sell the power amps so I can just put them in the cupboard till then, but we'll see.
  15. Hey as a better alternative look into Supratek, I know people who prefer them to AR pres even with their Power amps. ( disclaimer. I am selling one, but it doesn't fit your description as there is no remote or balanced, however these are standard features when you buy new now. (I didn't want the remote etc). Another good option if you like a big dynamic sound would be stereoknight if you can find one for sale or the new company they formed is AM audio who have 3 better options (buy new from Osborn speakers) but at higher cost, or I've seen a few pop up on here.
  16. I should also add that Mick offers transferable lifetime warranty on these, so if it ever plays up he will fix it for free, whether that's next year or 10 years from now.

I know it won't sound as good but need it to be simple so it actually gets used by the family, and I want to get Bub interactive with using the stereo as early as possible, not lock it away like so many do. Please note, this is only for sale while I have an option on the Integrated I'm looking at, If the option I'm looking at disappears I'll hang onto this until I find something else suitable. (Would also consider part trade towards a Luxman L590AX2 if anyone has one who wants this). 18. I have a VT20 and it's brilliant. But fyi Skype won't work anymore it was removed from all teles
  19. Funny I have the same amp with a fault yet go be determined. Can you pm me with details about what's wrong / which board it needs?
  20. You get best results using high level input, but can't be used with class D amps.
  21. If you're still looking @Triode_Lyfe I've decided to part with my Supratek. Best sounding pre I've ever owned but it's time for something simpler for a while so going integrated. I've just listed it if you wanna have a look or ask anything. Just had a full rebuild about 8 months ago to latest line stage circuit.
  22. Will print fresh labels free and can throw in the crab of necessary to make the sale, but you get to deal with my niece when she notices it's gone.. Should also add by the way I fired up the phono with a DL103 and it has more than enough gain to rub any cartridge, and the phono stage is very very quiet.

  24. By the way should clarify the $5k goal is just for the amp, would expect to spend 2-3 for a suitable CD player, but amp is first priority
