  1. The Sugden and these speakers would make for a fabulous system.
  2. There will be lots of people who won’t buy gear where the company is ceasing operations because of servicing. Shame to see them go.
  3. Extra Info: I am after a rca to bnc cable for my new dac which is about 1 month away. I'm after something practical like Mogami or Canare rather than the more esoteric cables. It does need to be 75 ohm.
  4. This is seriously good buying. A very good dac at a few hundred above the cost of the power supply.
  5. I like the question mark- do I or don’t I?
  6. Kimber make really good cables (I have the 8TC speaker cable) but if you really want to try other inter connects I would suggest using the Mogami https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/203558125911? It is seriously good and a fraction of the price of some exotic cables. I sold an interconnect recently that was a high end cable but the replacement is every bit as good.
  7. I agree. Living very close to a transmitter I am sensitive to RF. I recently had a MM cartridge which picked up the radio very loudly and changing to a MC eliminated all of the noise. I can't use a lot of Naim gear as they generally have a less filters approach and the last Supernait was unlistenable in my room. Sugden A21 SE is perfectly fine.
  8. Hi Alan, Will you be showing any of your gear at the Sydney HiFi show in April? I would love to hear the floor standers.
  9. A borrowed ZYX Cartridge on the PU7 thanks to @rossbwho kindly set it up. The actual setup is difficult with the bolt and nut arrangement. The cartridge is sounding stunning, a definite improvement over the Benz Wood SL. My system leans on the darker side with Sugden Class A amp, LS 5/9 speakers and a valve (Tron) phono stage so the Benz might be a tad too much warmth. This particular cart was retipped by @cafe latteso I can’t comment on how the original sounds, but I can say that the retipped cart is brilliant. ZYX carts are now high on the list for my upcoming trip to Japan. Any store recommendations are appreciated.
  10. Good point. @Powerglidehas made some fabulous gear.
  11. You could use a freight forwarding service for shipping.
  12. Thanks for the heads up. I didn’t realise that Clay was making cables.
  13. I ordered an S5 today. I’ll let you know how it sounds in a months time when it arrives.
  14. If I was in QLD I would audition for sure. I am very close to buying an Audial S5
  15. I think a good server Volumio based and a good dac can still sound awesome. People shouldn’t be daunted by thinking they need all these extras (in some cases a lot of money for small improvements). It all comes down to budget and what sound level that you can be happy with. My DAC is a Giesler Gross and I have a repurposed old Antipodes Ref server running Volumio which costs less than some of the filters available. IMHO it sounds great.
  16. This is a bit of a bargain on pinkfish For those that aren’t aware of the model, it was Graham Tricker’s state of the art phono stage at the time and sold for about £3500. Unlike his later models this is all point to point wired with no circuit boards. Not many were made, maybe due to being very labour intensive. I am the second owner from new. This is set for 100 ohm, suitable for most cartridges. The NOS valves are a matched pair of original Telefunken ECC83’s, diamond based etc; a vintage Mullard yellow label ECF85. This unit has been significantly upgraded with Jupiter 1 uF 100v copper foil, paper & wax capacitors, Shinkoh & Charcroft Z film resistors and gold wiring by Graeme @Valvebloke (Ampregen) for its previous owner. No box so collection or meet up in the West Mids area would be best, or Meat-Van if this can be arranged. Yours for £1350. https://pinkfishmedia.net/forum/threads/tron-nucleus-phono-stage-mc.286040/#post-5212884
