The beautiful and real wood veneers are impeccable making it suitable for all types of room design. There are 3 drive units in each enclosure, the two 6.5 inch units cover bass frequencies but each one has been mechanically tuned to cover mid frequencies. To improve dispersion the upper bass driver has a phase plug whilst the lower unit has a ProAc open weave cap. This gives the 148 tremendous bass power and depth with a clear precise mid range. The bass drivers crossover to the 1 inch silk dome tweeter used in many other ProAc models. The bass drivers are loaded by a port in the bottom of the cabinet and through the plinth. Spikes are used to raise the cabinet allowing air to move under the enclosure and through the port. Improvements can be heard in all areas from a tight, cleaner and extended bass through a detailed mid-range with a sweet and detailed high frequency, the 148 also has a large spectacular sound stage with pin point imagery. The studio 148 comes in a variety of real wood veneers and is above average for efficiency, meaning the use of small high quality valve amplifiers and transistor amplifiers. Specifications Nominal Impedance 4 ohms Recommended Amplifiers 15 to 250 watts Frequency Response 25Hz to 30KHz Sensitivity 91 dB linear for 1 watt at 1 metre Bass Driver 2 x 6.5" (165mm) ProAc units with coated cone and mechanical tuning with dust cap and phase plug. Our enclosures may look conventional but this hides the advanced technology required to build a rigid and well-damped cabinet. Our loudspeakers are made in our factory at Brackley, England. They are slim and elegant, finished in gorgeous real wood veneer. With first class sound quality, you’ll be listening to ProAc speakers long after you would have become tired of a fashionable but poor sounding alternative. We are renowned for producing compact high-end speakers evidenced by both Tablette and Response 1SC which have become iconic over the years. The Response D TWO is a new speaker in this fine tradition, designed for the finest quality music and giving true monitor performance. The cabinet is made from a heavily damped, thin-wall rigid birch ply carcass, with a 25mm back panel. The bass driver is new, using the same cone technology as the Response D15 but with a revised coil and magnet. The tweeter is the same 1" silk dome as used in other ProAc models and the drive units are seamlessly mated with an HQ network designed and built by ProAc. Sound quality from the D TWO is one of extreme transparency; a lush and potent bass response and a silky detailed high frequency. The D TWO also have a huge sound stage with pinpoint imagery. The speakers are designed to sit on high mass stands from 18" high depending on your seating position. Specifications Nominal Impedance 8 ohms Recommended Amplifiers 30 to 150 watts Frequency Response 30hz to 30Khz Sensitivity 88.5db linear for 1 watt at 1 metre Bass Driver New 61/2” (165mm) ProAc unit with Excel Magnet system, glass fibre weave cone and copper phase plug. The new equalised vent was designed, using two billet aluminium rods between the cabinet and plinth which together with the drive unit frames are shaped and coated in a non-resonant material. Although slightly smaller than the D38, the D40 has a more extended and potent bass response, amazingly detailed midrange and a sweet and extended high frequency response. The huge sound stage is bettered only by the Carbon Pro and new K series. Supplied with a high quality ribbon tweeter, for those who would prefer a dome tweeter, this model is available in this format to order, as the Response D40. It uses a "Retro" design Cat's Eye tube for monitoring output level for each channel. You can see them in the photo above left. These are the round green "things" on the left and right side of the amplifier front panel. They were used on various products back in the 1960s, especially on tape recorders (they were reel-to-reel recorders back then). Only professional recorders had VU meters, and this was long before LCD recording meters that we see on modern cassette recorders of all price ranges. The Rocket 88 is switchable between functioning in Triode Mode (20 watts Pure Class A output per channel), and Ultra-Linear Pentode Mode (40 watts Class A/B per channel). There is a small toggle switch behind the far left KT-88 and far right KT-88 for switching each channel between these two modes independently, although I cannot think of a reason why I would ever use one channel in triode mode and the other channel in pentode mode. It may be just to keep the circuits as isolated as possible. Specifications Circuit: Push Pull, Balanced, Class A Triode, Class AB Ultra-linear Tube Compliment: Four KT-88 Output tubes, Two EL-84 Current Source Tubes, Two 6922 Input Tubes Power Output: 20 Watts RMS per Channel in Triode Mode, 40 Watts per Channel in Ultra-Linear Pentode Mode Inputs: RCA Single-Ended, XLR Balanced MFR: 15 Hz - 30 kHz ± 1 dB Output Indicators: Dual Cat's Eye Tubes Size: 9" H x 10" W x 18" D Weight: 42 Pounds

Further information: Location: Class A Audio, 8/585 Blackburn Rd, Notting Hill, VIC, 3168. phone (03) 8555 0735 The term “digital” is often erroneously applied to amplifiers with Class D (switching) output stages, but in the case of NAD’s new M2 Direct Digital Amplifier that word is appropriate. In fact, the M2 represents a major rethinking of audio-system architecture, directly converting standard-resolution or high-res digital bitstreams into signals that can drive loudspeakers. Functionally, the M2 is an “integrated amplifier” that replaces a DAC, preamplifier, and power amplifier. The M2 eliminates from a traditional signal path all the electronics of a DAC as well as the active analog gain stages of a preamplifier and power amplifier. It does this by converting the PCM signal from a digital source directly into a pulse-width modulation (PWM) signal that turns the M2’s output transistors on and off. That’s it—no digital filter, no DACs, no multiple stages of analog amplification, no interconnects, no jacks, no analog volume control, no preamp. The conversion from the digital domain to the analog domain occurs as a by-product of the switching output stage and its analog filter. This is as direct a signal path as one could envision. Specifications Continuous output power: 250Wpc (8 ohms); 250Wpc (4 ohms); 300Wpc (2 Ohms) IHF dynamic power: 300W (8 ohms); 450W (4 ohms); 600W (2 Ohms) Peak output current: >60A Signal-to-noise ratio: >120dB (A-weighted, referenced to 200W) Digital inputs: S/PDIF on RCA jacks (x2), AES/EBU (x1), TosLink optical (x2) plus TosLink in/out loop Sampling frequencies supported: 32kHz–192kHz up to 24 bits Analog inputs: Unbalanced on RCA jacks, balanced on XLR jacks Analog-to-digital converter: Fully balanced, 192kHz/24-bit Dimensions: 17.12" x 5.24" x 17.87" Weight: 44.45 lbs.
