  8. A used LH Geek Out. I still used it occasionally. Great product. With v2 out, I'm sure v1 can be had with a discount.
  9. The SuperDupont Mod did elevated the performance further for hd800 to my ears as well. Though I didn't make the mod myself, but ordered directly from sorrodje who pioneered the mod from France. It took about 2 weeks for his mod to arrive via regular postage. His thread is below http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/superdupont-resonator-summary-and-interest-check.1558/ This SD mod also made me listen to 800 more to he1000 nowadays :-)
  10. For me, most of closed phones have incorrect timbre, which can be quite annoying in listening to acoustic instruments and vocal. Some have plasticy, hard timbre, and the worst have metallic timbre. So far, only th-x00 and ether c sound close to have correct timbre for me. If timbre is not a priority, th900 and audeze sine are also nice phone. That's why it's best to audition them :-)
  11. For my he1000, it's been about 2 months that I used Norne Silvergarde 'S'. It's a clear upgrade to stock. Back to back, it make stock cable sound grainy and compress. It gave more body and richer mid-range, deeper and more open stage, impactful bass and smoother treble. Also, it seem to reduce that softness character that he1000 seem to have. Of course they were subtle, but still noticeable when comparing back to back on my setup. I think they are pure silver though. So YMMV. The downside is burn-in, which seem quite long.
  12. Yes, a2a had both mjolnir 2 and ragnarok on demo. I still feel that ragnarok was bit more refine than mjolnir 2. Hope you find what you looking for!

  14. To my ears, somehow Abyss seem always feel to fail me with a solid mid range on vocal. That's after auditioning them for many times within a year or two with various amp. DNA Stratus seem fill the mid range a bit, but still prefer both hd800 and he1000. For anything else without vocal, Abyss was awesome, particularly for Movie soundtrack and electronic music. While stax, vocal seem too floaty, maybe ethereal. Though I like its stax bass presentation, particularly from bhse. I used to like lcd range, but seem the new fazor range was a bit sterile for my ears. I like the old lcd3 non fazor for some reason. But I read there was an issue with its reliability. I sold my lcd-x, and replace it with he1000, as compliment to hd800. The amp was dna stratus. That's for my ears, but hope it help a bit. Audition definitely recommended. Good luck with the search. Hope you find your perfect headphone setup!
  15. With that kind of budget, I will take he1000 & schiit ragnarog, both on classified. But I think, auditioning first will be great idea :-)
