Cap values usually fall - not increase. These Mullatds sound great. Nancy Wilson's debut album on right now. I'll get round to measuring the caps in the near future. But overall I usually take an "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach. According to the previous owner I think he said he used these Mullards for approx 2-3 years with no issues.

In reply to @Silver Audiophile 's original Oct 2021 post, I can say that the failing stock Russian rectifiers pattern continues ! After just a couple of months of steady usage (2nd hand device) the left one failed (shorted). The orig Littlefuse protected the rest of this 300 Pre as intended. So I had replacement fuses at the ready (that I acquired from Mouser), knowing it could be an issue. It seems the other one is ok - but a 2nd matching one I'd not be interested in pursuing. Anyway all's well that ends well : have replaced them with Mullard GZ32 s today that look and sound pretty healthy supplied by my original vendor. A sonic boost to be sure.

Since the May overhaul, for which there is paperwork, the bass is deeper than its been in 15 years !

This classic valve preamp. A full function pre with 6 inputs including MM Phono stage. More about that below. I have owned this since new - yes 1995! Overhauled in May and working perfectly. Truly a Hi Fidelity device. You can audition. Being sold here with Synergystic fuse, Duende Creatura resonance absorbing rings. Note also in the pics quite a few Marigo tuning dots, special sized hex key, 3mtr iec - Furutech US plug. This pre made in USA and requires step down transformer. 115 volt. See ebay for these, usually $80 or so. The current Sovtek 6922 s are quiet and dynamic. It's sound will impress with lifelike images and dynamics. Sounding like the day it was made. Please see the attached reviews from Stereophile, etc , for more descriptions. Hi there all. So new Evo 300 pre owner here. Black with Siemens E80CC s etc. Question for the experts, are the tubes on the left responsible for the left channel output ? I mean a WYSIWYG layout would make sense ?

Further Information: Bought new from Addicted to Audio 2 years ago. The fully flexible passive~or~JFET~or~tube market darling. So 3 pre amps in one. Switch between modes at the click of a remote button. Yes the remote works beautifully. Volume : Mute: Input Select functions on the remote. A plethora of connection options on the back. Being sold here with 9 tubes! All testing strong, Included in the price. 4 X Russian 6H8C and 5 X Tung-sol 6SN7 GTB, brown base. Barely used. Original user manual, original packaging box, everything. The remote has a new battery. Everything working as new. A bargain, make a great chrissie present for the right person.

To ease minds, i should point out that this turntable can be used with any standard conventional step down transformer. They are available from ebay, Jaycar & other electronics shops and just need a US plug socket, 110v output. Its not a big issue.

Yep, agree, the music it makes is very engaging, with the 'piece de resistance' being the neutral tonal balance, and superb high frequency presentation. Works great with any moving coil cart, and its had Sumilkos, Benz M's, Shelter and thinking back, i may have had a dyna vector 20 years ago. The adjustments handle any compliance, any vta, any tracking force, Want to change azimuth. while LP is playing ? Turn a knob !

Heavy duty 1500 volt amp Toroidal Transformer. Made in Australia. I have been using this with usa voltage preamp and turntable. Two USA outlets. Very very quiet, virtually silent operation in very good working order. This rugged unit weighs approximately 13 kgs. Note the carry handle at top. Can be posted to all parts of Australia for $35. -

It can be wired up either way. Right now it is not shared. Actually the best config is to control the subs (on top) with the rca line level in on plate (if your preamp can handle it) because this is the best way to truly keep the activity of the subs independent from the fullrange woofer. Biwire to amp terminals mean eventually the circuits are shared. Eg u can reverse the phase of the subs, with the knob, to 180degrees, and u dont want a confused shared signal going to the woofer ~ the long way round via amp terminals Full range driver connected directly to power amp.
