HI all.... I am hoping to find a good repairer for my Sansui AU-7700 in the South East Melbourne area. The protection circuit relay has ceased triggering unfortunately. I would be grateful if anyone could assist with recommendations.

If you have no luck locally and don't mind posting your amp Bill does do good work here

    Actually works from home nowadays.

I think he used to own Merlin audio here in Canberra nice fellow and does good repair work techs are becoming harder to find unfortunately

  2. I have 3 sets of these standmounts, SP100 Spendor as well 2 pairs of Rogers LS7 and Export monitors they are well worth the effort to find a nice set if you're into the "musical sound" and no none are for sale sorry mate.

Pair them with a nice Sansui and you'll be happy (I always say that being a Sansui tragic they do work well together though). Aksa amps match well too.........just sayin.

Good luck with the search Ash

  3. Pete I had the Leben CS600 for a while only 28watts mate but just lovely to listen to I wish I still had it sometimes and the Weston amps I had as well 😞.

I actually think you would do well to try a Sansui Alpha with those Graham's I'm guessing they lean towards the "British sound" is that what you're after?

  4. I had a D11 and a 555A for a long time the D11 mid range isn't as "warm" sounding as you probably hoped for, still a nice amp though I paired mine with an old set of Paradigm SE 11 MK11 gee they sounded nice together.

Luc's right they are from a different generation of amps you can't really compare the 555A to a D11 and expect them to sound the same.

  5. Stickers, probably a heat gun Daves idea of the hair dryer is pretty much the same though, not sure but heat guns are probably hotter, a razor blade is risky but in conjunction with the heat gun is possible but still risky the stickers are probably brittle already you could just mask them carefully and paint/spray.

Gilly Stephensons is nice oil to use also.

  6. I am no expert however when my Canberra tech did my AU719 he was reluctant to replace the 2 big caps and didn't he was of the opinion that would alter the sound away from the Sansui norm it came back sounding lovely, I don't know if your's will get "bassier" with time but I would suggest not, you will get used to the sound, though they aren't usually all that strong bass wise set at zero anyway so just turn it up a notch or two.

Perhaps the choice of track (quality of the recording) may have something to do with the level of bass as well.
