  1. Wow. Have the C2s and can only imagine how these must sound. Great price as well. GLWTS
  2. Any half decent system reveals vinyl's imperfections, and the need for an RCM or effective cleaning regime. I used a cloth to wipe down records played on my parents' system and that was the end of it. We did suffer regular crackles and pops, and my parents' records, which I have and play on occasion are worse for wear, and they were treated relatively well. I couldn't get by without an RCM, and new records regularly look like they've been plucked from a dumpster - there's no way they're going anywhere near my stylus without a clean. So bottom line, you're right; get an RCM !
  3. While I think the season was rushed in parts, I thoroughly enjoyed the last episode and some of the ironies. I read the books as they came out, and realised I've waited 23 years for an ending. Still like to see George have a crack at completing the books, but that's unlikely. D&D did an incredible job at putting what seemed like an unfilmable story on the screen. Technically, it has to be the greatest accomplishment ever for the medium.
  4. Also using mine with Dynaudio C2s. Stunning results. GLWTS
  5. Had free time so grabbed my copies today. Played the standard release and so far no quality issues (although it did get the obligatory okki nokki pre-clean). Sonics are fine and I'm enjoying the first spin. 'Not In Kansas' is a stand out track so far.
  6. In Sydney I buy my vinyl from Beatdisc records. While they carry many genres, punk is a speciality as well as Australian punk / post punk era. Their second hand stock is regularly refreshed through purchased collections. The owners are easy to communicate with and I have ordered obscure pressings via Facebook Messenger at all hours and they are highly responsive. Their prices are also reasonable.
  7. I've ordered and will collect Monday. Taking a punt on the pressing quality, but return is always an option if GZ drop the ball.
  8. Long time since I’ve listened to The Smiths. 1984 S/T Japanese pressing. Sublime.

  12. Nice. The MOFI Pixies vinyl does sound excellent, and their version of Doolittle has shot up in value. GLWTS
  13. As an audience recording it sounds a lot better than it should. Michael Stipes’ vocals are prominent and the audience chatter is barely audible through most of it. The performance is acoustic, and the instruments are brought forward at different stages. If you’re looking for an audiophile experience this isn’t it, but it’s a great time capsule for REM, and I enjoyed listening to it.
  14. PM sent with intent to buy a few items

  16. My Frank Black collection is now a little more complete, thanks to a reasonably priced Discogs seller
  17. Nothing is more normal than scouring equipment specs and reviews in obscure sites and comparing them with descriptions from numerous forums and refreshing classified listings umpteen times a day while breaking it all up by examining vinyl pressings and matrix numbers and markings and country of origin and vinyl weight with the aim of making micro gains on a system that is financially equivalent to a new car or house extension. Yes, this is all completely normal.
  18. I’ve got the Sound City doco and watched it a few times. I think the interviews and details of bands and their recordings (particularly the iconic albums) at Sound City are excellent. It’s a great historical piece and portrays well the twilight of analog recording as protools became ubiquitous. The second half where Grohl does the improvised album with his heroes is disposable I suppose. But the doco is worth the price of entry for the first part.
  19. Can confirm. I bought the MF amp from LWA for the $995 offer.
  20. I think you win 🤣 ”You got faulty speakers, the sound ain’t coming from where it should be ! And you paid a fortune !”
  21. Lol. Dave Grohl champions analog sound, bought the Sound City mastering desk - which is an engineering feat and makes documentaries as an ode to great recordings. Yet, some of the worst pressings in my collection are Foo Fighters. I actually use one of their albums to demo the difference between good and crap pressings.
  22. @Whites A friend who is very particular about where people rest their drinks at her house (and fair enough), placed her wine glass on one of my speakers. She moved it, but didn’t understand what the issue was. So so I feel your pain. lol.
  23. I listened to a Henry Rollins interview where he talked about his hifi system which includes Wilson Alexandrias. His car was a Mazda 626. Man has his priorities straight !
