I have an 851D you could potentially audition if you're not too far. Pretty happy with it but can't compare to dedicated DAC + Pre separates, doesn't seem to be much discussion around on them however they did receive some fairly solid reviews. Only negative for me is the fact it doesn't do DSD format. Not sure if it's comparable but I previously had some Paradigm Studio's which I found harsh and fatiguing. Went from a Marantz AVR -> DacmagicPlus & Emotiva Amp -> Cambridge 851D/851W. With various cable changes a long the way. While there were audible improvements with each upgrade, the bright presentation of the Studio's had remained. Ended up getting rid of them and haven't looked back.

I have had mine running for a couple weeks with a hdplex power supply, via a regular HTPC. Removed it from the system today to confirm what I initially heard wasn't influenced by the rave reviews. As awayward stated, improvements throughout.... less noise, more detail and greater presence. You may have seen a few posts stating there is 'more bass', this is not to be confused with louder. With the REGEN in my system, there is particularly more detail in the lower frequencies which no doubt extends to all frequencies. Certainly worth the small outlay in my instance, however cannot say how it performs with the included wall power supply. With a SOTM USB card the improvements are less pronounced but still there.

Certainly is a generous offer. I had spent countless hours on CAD drawings for the latest Ekta Grande cabinets. Multiple efforts, trying to find the easiest way to assemble in my spare time. Has anyone considered building Troels current preferred speakers, the ATS-4's or even the new Illuminator 5's? Toying with the idea but the cabinet construction is daunting for the average DIY'er! I guess with the window of opportunity closing, what driver from AE would you guys recommend for a DIY sub to replace a Paradigm Sub 12? Essentially looking for a more musical sub (or two) with greater output and good pace.

Just a follow up from my post the other day, the Ekta Grande's arrived and have been running in for the last 2 days. Initial impressions being driven from a Cambridge 851W amp, and 851D source. So they are a huge step up from the fatiguing Paradigm Studio 20s they replaced. Chalk and cheese! Uncolored, very natural representation. Smooth mid and top end, the Scanspeak 12M midrange truly is a fantastic driver. Bottom end very detailed and controlled. Ever so slightly too heavy, but will reassess after some room treatment has been put in. Very pleased with the outcome and would have to thank Troels Gravesen for sharing his brilliant designs, and Edward at Adelaide Speakers for doing a great job on the cabinets!

I am getting some Troels Graveson Ekta Grande cabinets built at the moment by Edward at Adelaide Speakers. This project started 2-3 years ago, though I never got around to building the cabinets due to work commitments. Opted for the superior crossover kit and XT25 tweeter, in hindsight I should have went for the Scanspeak ring radiator. But I am sure the VIFA tweet will perform just fine. Also purchased some Soundocity outriggers to achieve the 5 degree tilt for time alignment. Can't wait to finally hear them!

Great work! Would you say the Jenzen D is leagues ahead of the other Troels Gravesen designs you have built? Currently having some Ekta Grande's built in a similar fashion with all the best components etc. Not sure what to expect from a DIY design, but have heard only good reports!

How long does it take for them to dispatch, my receipt was received on the 16th of january and I have had no further emails.

I picked up my LA55A950 the other day, seems its a december build (9th digit in serial is C), firmware is 2008/11/12_001010 whatever that means. Noticed an issue with screen dimming and returning to normal every so often yesterday.... but seems to have stopped now.
